However, it is currently difficult to compare the performance of these VCE methods as the evaluation procedures largely vary and often boil down to visual inspection of individual examples and small scale user studies. In this work, we propose a framework for systematic, quantitative evaluation of the VCE methods and a minimal set of metrics to be used. We use this framework to explore the effects of certain crucial design choices in the latest diffusion-based generative models for VCEs of natural image classification (ImageNet). We conduct a battery of ablation-like experiments, generating thousands of VCEs for a suite of classifiers of various complexity, accuracy and robustness. Our findings suggest multiple directions for future advancements and improvements of VCE methods. We introduce the Vector-Quantized Graph Auto-Encoder (VQ-GAE), a permutation-equivariant discrete auto-encoder and designed to model the distribution of graphs. Considering the stimulus-response of humans, interacting with objects is easier if depth information is provided by stereoscopic vision. However, most people are used to work in monoscopic virtual environments. Therefore, we propose a case study, to analyze if an interaction approach using stereoscopic vision, compared to a conventional monoscopic vision, results in a higher user acceptance and stimulus-response correspondence. Our interaction approach is based on a robust and fast running 3D hand- and head-tracking provided by Microsoft's Kinect. We present a simple non-collision-based method for grabbing and manipulating objects within a 3D virtual environment. By tracking the head, the user is able to move within the environment and interact depending on his current position. The use of stereoscopic vision allows a natural and instinctive hand interaction with the augmented object. Finally, the experimental results and studies show how the use of stereoscopic vision improves the mental mapping and thus the user acceptance and stimulus-response correspondence in consideration of using the here presented interaction approach.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{BraunSchreibmannAckvaetal., author = {Braun, Peter and Schreibmann, Vitaliy and Ackva, Ansgar and Balzer, Arndt and Bayer, Sven}, title = {PEDELEC}, series = {Proceedings of the 6th RMUTP International Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development: Current Challenges towards Creative and Green Economy}, booktitle = {Proceedings of the 6th RMUTP International Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development: Current Challenges towards Creative and Green Economy}, language = {en} } @article{Huffstadt, author = {Huffstadt, Karsten}, title = {Personal und Arbeit im Customer Relationship Management-Gesch{\"a}ftsmodell}, series = {Zeitschrift f{\"u}r Personalforschung}, journal = {Zeitschrift f{\"u}r Personalforschung}, number = {4}, language = {de} } @incollection{Huffstadt, author = {Huffstadt, Karsten}, title = {Analyse und Darstellung des Return und Invest (ROI) bei der Einf{\"u}hrung einer mobilen Supply Chain Management-L{\"o}sung}, series = {Mehr Gewinn durch Instandhaltung}, booktitle = {Mehr Gewinn durch Instandhaltung}, editor = {Bandow,}, language = {de} } @article{HuffstadtJanowski, author = {Huffstadt, Karsten and Janowski, J.}, title = {Kundenorientierung als zentrale F{\"u}hrungsverhaltensdimension}, series = {Zeitschrift f{\"u}r Organisation}, journal = {Zeitschrift f{\"u}r Organisation}, number = {6}, language = {de} } @article{Huffstadt, author = {Huffstadt, Karsten}, title = {Mobile Maintenance Management}, series = {Arbeitsbericht 11. For the Amazon rainforest, automated mapping is of critical importance, as land cover is changing rapidly due to forest degradation and deforestation. Several research groups have addressed this challenge by conducting local surveys and producing maps using freely available remote sensing data. However, automating the process of large-scale land cover mapping remains one of the biggest challenges in the remote sensing community. One issue when using supervised learning is the scarcity of labeled training data. One way to address this problem is to make use of already available maps produced with (semi-) automated classifiers. This is also known as weakly supervised learning. The present study aims to develop novel methods for automated LULC classification in the cloud-prone Amazon basin (Brazil) based on the labels from the MapBiomas project, which include twelve classes. We investigate different fusion techniques for multi-spectral Sentinel-2 data and synthetic aperture radar Sentinel-1 time-series from 2018. The newly designed deep learning architectures—DeepForest-1 and DeepForest-2—utilize spatiotemporal characteristics, as well as multi-scale representations of the data. In several data scenarios, the models are compared to state-of-the-art (SotA) models, such as U-Net and DeepLab. The proposed networks reach an overall accuracy of up to 75.0\%, similar to the SotA models. However, the novel approaches outperform the SotA models with respect to underrepresented classes. Forest, savanna and crop were mapped best, with F1 scores up to 85.0\% when combining multi-modal data, compared to 81.6\% reached by DeepLab. Modern means of transportation, like cars, ships and planes, thus come equipped with onboard navigation systems, assisting with this task, based on the global positioning system (GPS), or a derivative. However, the navigation task is not solely limited to outdoor environments. Reaching the correct gate within an airport, finding a ward in an unknown hospital, or the auditorium within a new university, represent navigation problems as well. With the GPS requiring a direct line of sight towards the sky, it is unavailable for absolute location estimation indoors. Therefore, the question for suitable indoor navigation techniques arises. Besides localization accuracy, additional factors should be met for such a new system to become a success. It should be easy to set up and maintain, limiting required working hours and costs. Likewise, hardware for the users themselves should be cheap, and readily available. Due to the ubiquity of smartphones, these devices represent a desirable platform for pedestrians, backed by the variety of sensors installed in these devices. Within this work, smartphone-based pedestrian indoor localization and navigation is discussed in detail. This covers examining the suitability of several available sensors: step-detection using readings from the accelerometer, relative turn-detection utilizing the turn rates of the gyroscope, absolute heading estimations based on the magnetometer's indications, and altitude evaluation from the barometer. While all aforementioned sensors do not require any additional infrastructure, thus suitable for all sorts of buildings, they only allow for relative location estimations. Absolute localization can utilize Wi-Fi, as it is supported by all smartphones, and most public buildings already contain the required infrastructure. Due to the behavior of radio signals, the smartphone's current location can be approximated by examining signal strengths of nearby transmitters. This aspect is often utilized by Wi-Fi fingerprinting, which, however, requires a time consuming setup process. Therefore, an alternative is developed that allows for significantly faster setup times. Additionally, the building's 3D floorplan is included, modeling potential pedestrian movements, limiting impossible walks to improve estimation results, and to provide routing towards a desired destination. For this, two spatial floorplan representations are derived and examined. All aforementioned aspects are hereafter combined probabilistically, using recursive density estimation based on the particle filter. This allows for fusioning all sensor observations while respecting their individual uncertainties, and the building's floorplan as additional constraints. To summarize, the system described within this work covers probabilistic 3D pedestrian indoor localization, using commodity smartphones, contained sensors, a building's existing infrastructure and floorplan, all combined by the particle filter to derive an indoor localization and navigation system that is easy to set up and maintain.}, language = {en} } @article{Mueller, author = {M{\"u}ller, Nicholas}, title = {Mensch und Technik in der angewandten Forschung}, series = {HMD Praxis der Wirtschaftsinformatik}, volume = {57}, journal = {HMD Praxis der Wirtschaftsinformatik}, issn = {2198-2775}, pages = {372 -- 384}, abstract = {Empirische Erkenntnisse der Grundlagenforschung in den Alltag zu {\"u}berf{\"u}hren, ist eine der elementaren Herausforderungen der angewandten Forschung.
