Kontroverse Literatur der Neuen Rechten in den Beständen öffentlicher Bibliotheken in Deutschland

Seit den letzten Jahren kommt es auf dem deutschen Buchmarkt vermehrt zum Erscheinen von sich zu Bestsellern entwickelnden Büchern, deren Inhalt als politisch rechts eingeschätzt und in der Öffentlichkeit kritisiert wird. Die Frage des Umgangs mit dieser Literatur beschäftigt derzeit nicht nur Buchmessen und Buchhandlungen, sondern auch öffentliche Bibliotheken in einem verstärkten Maße. So erscheinen seit Monaten immer wieder Beiträge zu diesem Thema über verschiedene Medienkanäle der Bibliotheksszene. Ihren vorläufigen Höhepunkt erreichte die bibliothekarische Debatte in Form von zwei Podiumsdiskussionen im Juni 2018 auf dem Bibliothekartag in Berlin, an der eine Vielzahl an Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekaren teilnahm. Aufgrund des differenten Meinungsbilds innerhalb der bibliothekarischen Belegschaft stellt sich die Frage, wie momentan der Stand der Bereitstellung populärer aktueller umstrittener Literatur der Neuen Rechten in den Beständen öffentlicher Bibliotheken in Deutschland ist.
Die vorliegende Arbeit soll einen Beitrag zur angeführten Diskussion leisten, indem sie sich der Beantwortung dieser Forschungsfrage anhand der Durchführung einer Untersuchung widmet. Eine entsprechende Datenerhebung existiert bisher nicht. Das Ziel ist es, mithilfe des erarbeiteten Untersuchungsergebnisses Zusammenhänge zwischen der Bereitstellung populärer aktueller umstrittener Literatur der Neuen Rechten in den Beständen öffentlicher Bibliotheken in Deutschland und dem Auswahlverfahren im Bestandsaufbau der einzelnen Bibliotheken, deren regionalen Verteilung sowie dem Auftreten von Bibliothekszensur aufzuzeigen.
Richard David Lankes‘ New Librarianship verfolgt das Ziel eines partizipatorischen Bibliothekswesens, welches auf Gordon Pasks Conversation Theory fußt. Bibliotheken fördern in diesem Konstrukt die Wissensgenerierung innerhalb ihrer Community und verbessern damit gleichzeitig die Gesellschaft. Die Bibliothekarinnen nehmen im New Librarianship eine proaktive Rolle ein. Analysen deutscher Bibliotheken auf Grundlage von Lankes Theorien fehlen bisher.
Die vorliegende Arbeit schließt einen Teil dieser Lücke und beantwortet die Frage, welche Position deutsche Behördenbibliotheken im Gefüge des New Librarianships einnehmen. Ferner werden Handlungsmöglichkeiten skizziert, welche den partizipatorischen Ansatz in Behördenbibliotheken einbinden. Sie dienen als Denkanstoß und Diskussionsgrundlage für die Praxis.
Mithilfe der Fallstudie wird die konkrete Arbeitsweise von Behördenbibliotheken beleuchtet. Anhand von Beiträgen der Fachliteratur, Beobachtungen in der natürlichen Fallumgebung und Kurz-Interviews werden Services und Merkmale von Behördenbibliotheken in Hinblick auf die Forschungsfrage analysiert.
Lankes überwiegend theoretische Vorgehensweise, seine dem New Librarianship innwohnende Euphorie sowie der fehlende Bezug zu deutschen Bibliotheken erschweren die Übertragung auf die hiesige Bibliothekslandschaft. Nichtsdestotrotz formt New Librarianship eine Grundlage für die zukünftige Arbeit von Behördenbibliotheken in Deutschland.
