What are creative commons licences?

By choosing your CC licence during the publication process, you decide in a simple yet legally binding way under which conditions the public may use and re-use your publication. To use the CC licences, the corresponding rights must still be yours, i.e. you must check in advance whether you have assigned exclusive rights to a publisher, for example.

However, with regard to non-commercial use, please note that this choice may limit the visibility of your document, as this regulation also affects providers of search engines and resource discovery systems. Further information on the individual licences can be found at creative commons.

If you do not select a CC licence, the signed declaration of consent applies - this is effective in any case - and of course German copyright law. According to the declaration of consent, the TH Brandenburg University Library is entitled to make the work available for use on the internet in accordance with the conditions stated therein. Within the scope of this provision, users are entitled to use documents free of charge in accordance with copyright law, in particular to download, save or print a small number of the document for private and other personal use (§ 53 UrhG).
