TY - THES A1 - Baier, Sebastian T1 - Parametrisierte Generierung diverser Planeten als Spielwelten für ein interplanetares Aufbaustrategiespiel N2 - Explorational video games and video game genres like Rogle-Likes depend heavily on the presence of an interesting and exciting game world and high replayability. This can be achieved by a high amount of content generated by procedural generation. Space themed games in particular usually lack game worlds with visual and gameplay diversity. This work focuses on the generation of diverse planets as game worlds for an interplanetary building strategy PC game. Therefore, a generator was developed within the Unity game engine to generate pseudo random planet models. Classic and modern approaches to procedural content generation were evaluated and compared in order to assess their suitability for the implementation of the generator. The generated models utilize a data structure that allows for changes in the model based on player interaction. The resulting planets differ in size, biomes and surface structure. The planet's basic sphere geometry is derived from a subdivided icosphere. Using a voronoi diagram, its surface is divided into regions representing biomes, continents and oceans. A basic simulation of continental plates is used to determine mountain and canyon locations. These are formed by nested noise functions and domain warping creating a height field. The planet surface consists of multiple material layers represented by data. However, the related terminology is not unified among the different domains, such as digital media steganography, text steganography, cyber-physical systems steganography, network steganography (network covert channels), local covert channels, and out-of-band covert channels. To cope with this, a prime attempt has been done in 2015, with the introduction of the so-called hiding patterns, which allow to describe hiding techniques in a more abstract manner. Despite significant enhancements, the main limitation of such a taxonomy is that it only considers the case of network steganography. Therefore, this paper reviews both the terminology and the taxonomy of hiding patterns as to make them more general. Specifically, hiding patterns are split into those that describe the embedding and the representation of hidden data within the cover object. As a first research action, we focus on embedding hiding patterns and we show how they can be applied to multiple domains of steganography instead of being limited to the network scenario. Additionally, we exemplify representation patterns using network steganography. The interplay between the phase transition effects and the contact-line motion, leading to its arrest, remains poorly understood. Here we reveal the early solidification patterns and dynamics of spreading hexadecane droplets. Total internal reflection imaging is employed to temporally and spatially resolve the early solidification behavior. With this, we determine the conditions leading to the contact-line arrest. We quantify the overall nucleation behavior, i.e., the nucleation rate and the crystal growth speed and show its sensitivity to the applied undercooling of the substrate. We also show that for strong enough undercooling it is the rapid growth of the crystals which determines the eventual arrest of the spreading contact line. By combining the Johnson-Mehl-Avrami-Kolmogorov nucleation theory and scaling relations for the spreading, we calculate the temporal evolution of the solid area fraction, which is in good agreement with our observations. Using LP modelling and representative annual load profiles on an hourly resolution, we investigate the impact of the price level for wind peak power supply of residential quarters with heat, cold and electricity in Germany in combination with different power ratios of wind supply and demand. As we show, an application of wind peak tariff is technically and economically feasible and allows using green leftover energy without going in competition with e.g., green fuels or green H2 production. N2 - The subject of this master thesis is the realization of an exit puzzle with integrated elements of AR and VR. Applied in the context of knowledge transfer in the subject area of mathematics, both the use of a board game and modern techniques have a motivating effect on the student body. The analysis of related work is based on theoretical insights, which were collected by literature research. On the foundation of eleven semi-structured interviews, information about the target group, the context of use, and possible problems of the scheduled puzzle could be gathered. Based on this knowledge, a catalog of the main requirements and priorities was made. In the conception phase, this accumulation used to be the groundwork for the development of the exit puzzle, which was implemented prototypically afterward. Finally, this prototype has undergone an evaluation with ten user trials, which on the one side should capture the usability of the puzzle and on the other side should record suggestions for further improvements. This concluding evaluation could confirm the usability of the puzzle as well as provide indications that the application has a supporting effect on the usage and understanding of the subject matters. Furthermore, the evaluation has shown that the application under certain conditions is suitable for use in mathematics class. The forecast of the market share of new BEV car registrations in Germany can help efficiently evaluate strategic and future-oriented decisions, e.g., the climate targets set by the federal government. Machine learning methods were used to implement forecasting. Two machine learning models were used to forecast of the market share of new BEV car registrations in Germany: SARIMA(X) and DeepAR model. Due to variety in input datasets, four univariate and multivariate time series analysis models were trained. Afterwards, all four trained models were compared with each other using the RMSE metric. The last six months of the dataset were used to evaluate the model quality. The result of model comparison shows that SARIMAX model needs the exogenous variables to create a forecast of the multivariate data sets. However, the DeepAR model does not require any exogenous variables to generate forecast. Furthermore, if the input dataset contains at least 300 observations, then the implementation of DeepAR model is much more advantageous than SARIMA(X) model. DeepAR model not only supports the univariate and multivariate datasets, but also creates a global model that generates a forecast per variable. This is a great advantage over the SARIMA(X) model, which is not capable of this. Unfortunately, research has mentioned that older users often face challenges in using them. Although some papers have created guidelines for designing interfaces for the elderly, these applications are still focused on developing according to the need of young people. In addition, the aging of adults increases their chances of facing some difficulties. Therefore, this thesis aims to give a better understanding of the interface of the mobile instant messaging (MIM) application preferred by its users, specifically Indonesian users. By distributing an online-based survey to 150 Indonesian users of the MIM application, the preferences of several features in the message list and messaging interface of this application are collected. Then, the statistical analysis of the results found that the preferences of both users’ age groups differ. Among them are the button or icon each age group finds more suitable, the bottom bar in the messaging interface, and the placement of action options to be performed to the message they prefer most. Thus, this research also presents design recommendations that both younger and older users prefer. To interact with the digital world, we use gestures (most common: swipe gestures), voice, facial expressions and mental commands. The latter has become more important by recent press releases about scientific achievements, for example, from Neuralink [1] using invasive technology to control a computer game by thoughts only [2]. Another study says an application can display text on a screen by just thinking about a word [3]. Currently, BCIs are mainly developed for neurotechnology and healthcare. However, it is a question of time when these services will be available for commercial products for everyday life. (Until then, manufacturers have to minimize health risks and face privacy and safety regulations.) The thesis is that in the future, you will be able to interact with your digital devices just by using your thoughts and you’ll do much faster. This makes sense in many situations where you f. e. do not have a free hand (manufacturing, sports) or cannot speak (underwater). But for such services, you cannot rely on conventional visual design guidelines or interaction patterns, frameworks or libraries. Navigation interacting with a digital service by mental command has a lot of advantages, the human brain comes naturally with some specific features that force us to find a radically new way to interact with digital interfaces. The following study introduces you first into working conditions with mental commands, comparing invasive and non-invasive technologies, and later on comparing several possibilities of interaction patterns for a BCI of everyday usage. By means of AI, cyber attacks can be efficiently conducted more successful through offensive AI. As for cyber defense, AI can be also utilized against cyber threats (defensive AI). Due to limited resources, especially in small and medium-sized companies (SMEs), there is a need to deploy more effective defensive cyber security solutions. Precisely, the adaptation of AI-based resilient defenses must be driven forward. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to identify and evaluate AI-related use cases with a high impact potential on the cyber security level, while being applicable to SMEs at the same time. In order to reach the research goal, an extensive literature review of several online catalogs, surveys and online platforms was conducted. In conclusion, seven crucial AI-based security features were outlined that are providing a high impact potential to the security level for SMEs. Afterwards, the results are discussed and set into a broader context. Even though AI-based security solutions are providing a large range of advantages, certain challenges and barriers using AI-related security applications are addressed in the paper as well. ESORICS 2021 International Workshops N2 - Due to the increasing number of complaints alleging privacy violations against companies to data protection authorities, the translation of business goals to system design goals and the subsequent consequences for customers’ privacy poses a challenge for many companies. For this reason, there is a need to bridge the economics of privacy and threats to privacy. To this end, our work relies on the concept of privacy as contextual integrity. This framework defines privacy as appropriate information flows subjected to social norms within particular social contexts or spheres. In this paper, we introduce a preliminary version of a semantic model which aims to relate and provide understanding on how well-established business goals may affect their customers’ privacy by designing IoT devices with permission access, data acquired by sensors, among other factors. Finally, we provide a use case application showing how to use the semantic model. The model aims to be an educational tool for professionals in business informatics during the modeling and designing process of a product which may gather sensitive data or may infer sensitive information, giving an understanding of the interaction of the product and its footprint with diverse actors (humans or machines). In the future, a further complete model of the presented may also target other groups, such as law enforcement bodies, as part of their educational training in such systems. There are three main reasons for this development. First, on the one hand, it is the immersive character of this media form, and, on the other hand, the development of recording and presentation technology has made significant progress in terms of resolution and quality. Third, after a decade of dynamic rising, the MICE Industry focuses on a disruptive change for more digital-based solutions. 360-degree panoramas are particularly widespread in VR and AR technology. However, despite the high immersive potential, these forms of presentation have the disadvantage that the users are isolated and have no social contact during the performance. Therefore, efforts have been made to project 360-degree content in specially equipped rooms or planetariums to enable a shared experience for the audience. One application area for 360-degree panoramas and films is conference rooms in hotels, conference centers, and any other venues that create an immersive environment for their clients to stimulate creativity. This work aims to overview the various application scenarios and usability possibilities for such conference rooms. In particular, we consider applications in construction, control, tourism, medicine, art exhibition, architecture, music performance, education, partying, organizing and carrying out events, and video conferencing. These applications and use scenarios were successfully tested, implemented, and evaluated in the 360-degree conference room “Dortmund” in the Hotel Park Soltau in Soltau, Germany. Finally, the advantages, challenges, and limitations of the proposed method are described. The crystal structure of the obtained composite samples, the porosity and the microhardness were studied by the X-ray diffraction, the electron microscopy, the weight method, and the Vickers method. Electrical characteristics (dielectric permittivity, tunability and losses) of as-prepared and annealed in oxygen medium samples were investigated at microwaves. According to structural analysis, the synthesized samples are a mixture of KFeSi glass, ferroelectric BaTiO3, and dielectric barium polytitanates; the ratio of the latter determines the electrical properties of the composites. Depending on the content of barium titanate, the studied composite samples show a permittivity from 50 to 270 with a dielectric loss level of 0,1–0,02 in frequency range from 3 to 10 GHz. Annealing of composite samples in an oxygen-containing environment leads to an increase in their dielectric permittivity and tunability by 10–25% and a twofold decrease in dielectric loss. The question type STACK in the Moodle learning management system combined with the interactive graphics library JSXGraph has a great potential for implementation of e-learning resources addressing these skills in formative and summative settings. The authoring process of such materials is complex due to multiple markup and programming languages like HTML, LaTeX, Maxima and JavaScript (JS) being involved. The Meclib concept mitigates this complexity and allows for efficient bulk production of material with consistent appearance and user experience. The core of Meclib is a set of pre-defined JSXGraph-based objects with an interface to Maxima, such that no problem specific JS code is required at all. The present paper outlines the basic ideas of the implementation and demonstrates the approach for some typical examples of different complexity. The focus is on applications in engineering mechanics, starting from static illustrations up to an editor for free body diagrams, with rich adaptive formative feedback. N2 - Digitalization is one of the big challenges of our time. Along with the increased online life, the importance for companies to establish a representative online presence is growing as well. Especially for small and medium size companies, the operation and maintenance of an online presence means a high effort in terms of time and financial investment. The aim of this study is to provide an alternative to common content management systems for small medium size companies. In addition, they should be supported in the decision making process. To answer the research questions the methodical approach of a literature and internet research was used. From the analysis, three online business platforms were identified and their advantages and disadvantages compared to content management systems were presented. Subsequently, criteria were defined and recommendations were presented, which should support small and medium-sized enterprises in the decision-making process. Finally, the setup as well as the most important functions of a platform were presented. The results show that the use of an online platform is a sensible alternative for locally limited companies with low functionality requirements and high cost sensitivity.
