Color changes occur not only for variation of the star’s angular elevation above the horizon, but as well for decreasing nighttime sky brightness due to the transition from photopic via mesopic to scotopic vision. The maximum number of stars showing color to the naked eye depends on star illuminances on Earth and the background sky luminance. The limit of observing color is found to correspond to apparent visual magnitudes around , defining the number of colored stars. This also means that naked eye perception of stars with color is only possible for a certain star distance range, which is well below the maximum naked eye visual range of stars. However, DVM is often oversimplified, with limited consideration of how light-driven risks and resource needs vary across taxa and life stages. This simplification is partly due to constraints on collecting high-resolution, size-resolved data —especially at night, when subtle shifts in illumination reshape nocturnal risk landscapes. To overcome these limitations, we deployed a high-resolution in situ modular Deep-focus Plankton Imager and an image-recognition approach to quantify fine scale DVM and body sizes of Cladocerans and Copepods in Lake Stechlin, Germany. Data was collected from day into night and across moonrise and was compared with environmental data from vertical profiling sondes. Typical DVM patterns emerged, with deeper daytime distributions, however, moonlight introduced additional behavioural complexity: larger individuals avoided illuminated layers, likely managing predation risk, while smaller individuals moved into these layers, possibly exploiting foraging opportunities and reduced risk. These light-mediated shifts were further shaped by ecological conditions; copepods tracked food-rich layers regardless of light levels at night, while cladocerans showed light-dependent responses to both temperature and food, such that light caused them to avoid otherwise favourable (warm, food-rich) layers. Our approach provides new insight into how zooplankton navigate nocturnal lightscapes, revealing size- and taxon-specific strategies. Two major challenges accompany this trend. First, the training of surrogate models often requires a sufficient amount of data, the determination of which is inherently difficult. Second, these models often exhibit high complexity, limiting both the traceability of their outputs and the extraction of useful insights. Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) methods have therefore emerged as promising tools to enhance the interpretability, explainability, and transparency of such models. In this work, a combination of the established Shapley Additive Explanations (SHAP) approach with a bootstrap-based method is investigated. The proposed framework provides insights into the contribution of individual features and enables an assessment of data sufficiency with respect to surrogate model performance. Building upon these findings, the Bootstrap-Informed Feature Importance (BIFI) method is proposed. BIFI offers a model-agnostic, robust identification of relevant features.The method is analyzed in the context of Design of Experiments (DOE) processes used for surrogate model construction. Evaluation on four synthetic datasets of increasing complexity, as well as a dataset from aero-engine development, demonstrates that BIFI-based DOEs can improve surrogate model quality measured in terms of R and MSE by up to 90%. Following established SLR methodology, we identified relevant work by systematically search in different academic online libraries and applying a selection process. Nine publications were chosen for indepth analysis. Our synthesis reveals differences and similarities of how the KG is accessed, traversed, and how the context is finally assembled. To that end, we develop a methodology and build a data processing pipeline that allows to gather data from different OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) sources, and processes it to obtain relevant cybersecurity metrics. To validate its operation and usefulness, we apply it to two countries, Germany and Spain, allowing to study the main threats that affect medical IT systems in these countries. Our initial findings reveal that 20% of German hosts and 15% of Spanish hosts tagged as medical devices have at least one CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) with a CVSS (Common Vulnerability Scoring System) graded as critical (i.e., value 8 or greater). Moreover, we found that 74% of CVEs found in German hosts are dated from earlier than 2020, whereas for Spanish hosts the percentage is 60%. This indicates that medical IT systems exposed to the Internet are seldom updated, which further increases their exposure to cyberthreats. Based on these initial findings, we finish the paper providing some insights on how to improve cybersecurity of these systems. To assess and mitigate these impacts, it is crucial that measurements of night sky quality are reliable and comparable across sites and instruments. However, the lack of standardised night sky brightness metrology and the use of a wide variety of measurement instruments with varying spectral responsivity and field-specific measurement units hinder meaningful comparison. We collected night sky spectra from 44 nights at dark locations (existing and proposed dark sky parks). Based on this observational dataset, we created a larger random set of spectra. These data served to fit conversion parameters for a wide variety of units. We demonstrate that RGB cameras, when used as multichannel measuring devices, enable the retrieval of measurements that facilitate conversions between different units. Furthermore, even airglow can be quantified from a given measurement, enabling the determination of oxygen and sodium emission line contributions. Since this contribution is not negligible, quantitative measurements of its magnitude are crucial for accurately assessing light pollution at dark-sky sites. Using our spectral measurement database, we constructed the most probable transformation from the cameras’ R, G, and B channel 𝑑𝑠𝑢 values to other units, such as the astronomical Bessel V band magnitudes. The model features two distinct roles that interact with a knowledge base which stores malware features and helps building a context for the incident. For evaluation, two image steganography malware types are chosen from popular databases (malpedia and MITRE ATT&CK®), which are analyzed in multiple steps including steganalysis and code analysis. The physiological effects of abrupt exposure to artificial light at night (ALAN) on migratory fish, such as the light experienced passing near illuminated infrastructures, remain poorly understood. This study investigates the physiological responses of brown trout (Salmo trutta) smolts to low-intensity (0.02 lx) and short-term (30 s) ALAN, simulating nocturnal migration light conditions near illuminated bridges. To evaluate the influence of social dynamics, trout were tested individually (solitary) or in groups of six. Using continuous cardiac monitoring with data storage tags, alongside analyses of oxidative stress markers and adenylate kinase (AK) activity in the heart, we identified distinct patterns of physiological responses. Solitary fish exhibited significant heart rate variability (HRV) increases following repeated ALAN exposure, suggesting impaired physiological regulation under repeated ALAN exposure. In contrast, trout in groups displayed consistently lower HRV over the entire 90-min experiment, implying that social dynamics likely influenced a sustained oxidative stress response, corroborated by increased AK activity. Oxidative stress markers further reflected social effects, with significant upregulation of key antioxidant enzymes (sod1, sod2, gpx1, gpx4) and elevated lipid peroxidation, identifying lipids as primary oxidative targets. The observed divergence between superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and sod gene expression suggests adaptive post-transcriptional regulation to maintain redox balance under combined environmental and social stress. Nevertheless, ADPs position themselves deliberately in the competitive space of large competitors, targeting customer groups whose values and mindsets differ from mainstream DPs. Although there are many examples to find in practice, the variety of ADPs across different DP ecosystems and industries, especially in regards of strategic objectives, directions and characteristics, has not been researched in-depth yet. Based on a systematic, practice-based artifact review, this paper analyses and compares 105 ADPs in the competitive space of dominant DP ecosystem players. The study utilizes the theory of Corporate Aikido as an analytical framework, mapping the strategic elements of overthrowing established value propositions and turning a competitors’ strengths into weaknesses. Our findings indicate that privacy- and security-awareness, empowerment and inclusivity, premium quality and curation, open source and free access, uncensored, transparent and decentralized platforms as well as ecological and climate-friendly offers shape the landscape of alternative approaches in today’s DP economy. JF - European Journal of Education N2 - The study examines the effectiveness of microlearning in developing the capacity to address climate change and adapt to environmental challenges. Conducted as an online field experiment with 140 participants, the study focused on the impacts of smartphone use as an illustrative learning domain for education in climate change-related areas. Using a pre–post research design and simultaneous equation models, the study found improvements in knowledge retention, with a median increase of 38%. The results indicated that the brief microlearning units also promoted sustainability action competencies, such as confidence in one's influence and willingness to act sustainably. This suggests that higher-order learning processes were also triggered, although to a much lesser extent. Furthermore, learner satisfaction was identified as a mediating variable for these positive outcomes. The study concludes that short bursts of knowledge delivered through microlearning activities can be used alongside traditional training methods to build the critical skills needed for initiatives such as the EU Green Deal. On the other hand, while DPs enable SMEs to reach new customers and outsource costly managerial tasks, many SMEs struggle with the negative consequences of asymmetric power dynamics and dependency risks in platform business. This paper analyzes 14 cases of SMEs that face power asymmetry as DP value providers, unraveling challenges encountered and coping practices employed in this situation. The findings reveal that power asymmetry between dominant DPs and SMEs creates significant challenges, including exploitative relationships, loss of autonomy, surveillance pressures, and devaluation of SME contributions, while SMEs cope through disintermediation, multi-homing, individual resistance tactics, and striving for more equitable DP models. Moreover, three relationality types are identified: DPs being SMEs' “partners,” “tools,” and “necessary evil.” This article offers a new perspective on boundaries of SME strategies in the DP economy and contributes with empirical insights to the advancing field of entrepreneurial platform research. Such systems are often referred to as smart systems because they can autonomously monitor and respond to environmental conditions and can be integrated both indoors and outdoors to detect, for example, structural anomalies. However, these systems typically have high energy consumption, data overload, and large equipment sizes, which makes them difficult to install in constrained spaces. Therefore, three challenges remain unresolved: efficient energy use, accurate data measurement, and compact installation. To address these limitations, this study proposes a two-to-one threshold sampling approach, where the CO2 measurement is activated when the specified T and RH change thresholds are exceeded. This event-driven method avoids redundant data collection, minimizes power consumption, and is suitable for resource-constrained embedded systems. The proposed approach was implemented on a low-power, small-form and self-made multivariate sensor based on the PIC16LF19156 microcontroller. In contrast, a commercial monitoring system and sensor modules based on the Arduino Uno were used for comparison. As a result, by activating only key points in the T and RH signals, the number of CO2 measurements was significantly reduced without loss of essential signal characteristics. Signal reconstruction from the reduced points demonstrated high accuracy, with a mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.0089 and root mean squared error (RMSE) of 0.0117. Despite reducing the number of CO2 measurements by approximately 41.9%, the essential characteristics of the signal were saved, highlighting the efficiency of the proposed approach. Despite its effectiveness in controlled conditions (in buildings, indoors), environmental factors such as the presence of people, ventilation systems, and room layout can significantly alter the dynamics of CO2 concentrations, which may limit the implementation of this approach. Future studies will focus on the study of adaptive threshold mechanisms and context-dependent models that can adjust to changing conditions. Existing studies are limited in scope and lack scalable methodologies for systematic evaluation. Concept: This study analyzed 209 MDS2 documents and 161 security white papers to extract structured information on ports, protocols, and protective measures. Over 52,000 question–answer pairs were converted into a machine-readable format using customized parsing and validation routines. The aim was to establish whether this dataset could inform risk assessments and future applications involving Large Language Models (LLMs). Implementation: The analysis revealed 367 distinct ports, including common protocols such as HTTPS (443), DICOM (104), and RDP (3389), as well as vendor-specific proprietary ports. Approximately 40% of the devices used over 20 ports, indicating a broad attack surface. OCR errors and inconsistent formatting required manual corrections. A consolidated dataset was developed to support clustering, comparison across vendors and versions, and preparation for downstream LLM use, particularly via structured SBOM and configuration data. Lessons learned: Although no model training was conducted, the structured dataset can support AI-based OT security workflows. Dieses Szenario umfasste typische Systeme und Hersteller im Gesundheitssektor, darunter Krankenhausinformationssysteme, Medizingeräte sowie Netzwerkinfrastrukturen. Die gesammelten Daten wurden auf diese Infrastruktur gemappt, um zu prüfen, in welchem Umfang spezifische Bedrohungen abgedeckt werden. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass eine technische Integration grundsätzlich möglich ist und für generische IT-Bedrohungen belastbare Indikatoren vorliegen. Gleichzeitig steigt jedoch die False-Positive-Rate erheblich an, insbesondere bei komplexem HTTP-Verkehr. In Georgia, cervical cancer ranks as the fifth most common cancer among women, with approximately 330 new cases and 200 deaths reported annually. Despite the availability of effective HPV vaccines, national vaccination coverage remains low. This study aimed to evaluate HPV vaccination coverage, analyze cervical cancer incidence trends, and model the potential impact of increased vaccination uptake on cancer prevention outcomes in Georgia. Study design A retrospective observational study was conducted using national health registry data and modeling projections to assess the burden of cervical cancer and estimate the effect of scaled vaccination coverage. Methods National health databases were used to analyze HPV vaccination rates and cervical cancer incidence. Descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and linear regression were applied to identify trends and disparities. Additionally, a dynamic transmission model was developed to simulate the 10-year impact of increasing HPV vaccination coverage on cervical cancer incidence. Results The crude cervical cancer incidence rate was 15.7 per 100,000 women, with an age-standardized rate of 10.6 per 100,000. In 2022, only 38 % of eligible girls aged 13–18 received the first HPV vaccine dose, and 26 % completed the second dose. Regional disparities in vaccination and screening were noted, and overall screening coverage declined to 13,890 women screened in 2022. Modeling showed that increasing vaccine coverage to 60 % could reduce cervical cancer incidence by 50 % (preventing ∼163 cases); coverage of 80 % and 90 % could reduce incidence by 70 % and 85 %, preventing 228 and 276 cases, respectively. Conclusion Low HPV vaccination uptake in Georgia (38 % first dose and 26 % dull coverage) and declining screening limit cervical cancer prevention. Modeling shows that increasing vaccination coverage to 60–90 % could prevent 163–276 cases over the next decade. Strengthening vaccination and screening strategies is essential to move forward elimination. This study integrates genome-wide association study (GWAS) data from the International League Against Epilepsy Consortium on Complex Epilepsies with transcriptome-wide association studies to identify genes whose genetically regulated expression levels are associated with epilepsy. Methods To achieve this, we used multiple computational approaches, including MAGMA, a tool for gene analysis of GWAS data, and its derivatives E-MAGMA and H-MAGMA, to improve gene mapping accuracy by utilizing tissue-specific expression and chromatin interaction data. Furthermore, we developed ME-MAGMA to incorporate methylation quantitative trait loci data, providing insights into epigenetic factors. Results We identified a total of 897 false discovery rate-corrected (<.05) candidates. These include voltage-gated calcium channels, voltage-gated potassium channels, and other genes such as NPRL2, CACNB2, and KCNT1 associated with epilepsy pathogenesis that act as key players in neuronal communication and signaling in the brain. Significance In this study, we propose new candidate genes to expand the dataset of potential epilepsy-causing genes. Further research on these genes may enhance our understanding of the complex regulatory mechanisms underlying GGE and other types of epilepsy, potentially revealing targets for therapeutic intervention. The theoretical literature mainly addresses spheres under ideal conditions and simulations allow full access to all particle parameters, but experiments cannot fulfill these idealizations. We investigate granular gases of soft, rough spheres by combining microgravity experiments and adjusted simulations. We introduce Smart Particles with embedded autarkic micro-sensors for in-situ measurements of rotation rates and accelerations. Additionally, we extract 3D positions, translations and orientations of the particles from stereoscopic video data using Machine-Learning based algorithms. A sphere suspended in a discharging silo experiences both weight of the overlaying layers and drag of the surrounding moving grains. In experiments with frictional hard glass beads, the force on the obstacle was found to be practically flow-rate independent. In contrast, flow of nearly frictionless soft hydrogel spheres added drag forces which increased with the flow rate until reaching saturation at high flow speeds. The total force grew quadratically with the obstacle diameter in the soft, low friction material, while it grew much weaker, nearly linearly with the obstacle diameter, in the bed of hard, frictional glass spheres. In addition to the drag, obstacles embedded in the flowing hydrogel spheres experience a weight force from the top as if immersed in a hydrostatic pressure profile, but negligible counter-forces from below. In contrast, the frictional hard particles create a strong pressure gradient near the upper surface of the obstacle. Numerical simulations provide additional information that is difficult to access experimentally. They reproduce the experimental results and give hints for the origin of the different force contributions. Many celestial objects like stars and galaxies as well as transient phenomena such as comets and supernovae can be observed in the night sky. We discuss the furthest distances of such objects and phenomena observable with the naked eye during the night-time for Earth-bound observers. The physics of night-time visual ranges differs from that of daytime observations because human vision shifts from cones to rods. In addition, mostly point sources are observed due to the large distances involved. Whether celestial objects and phenomena can be detected depends on the contrast of their radiation and the background sky luminance. We present a concise overview of how far we can see at night by first discussing the effects of the Earth's atmosphere. This includes attenuation of transmitted radiation as well as its role as a source of background radiation. Disregarding the attenuation of light due to interstellar and intergalactic dust, simple maximum night-time visual range estimates are based on the inverse square law, which can be easily verified by laboratory and demonstration experiments. From the respective calculations, we find that individual stars within the Milky Way galaxy of up to 15 000 light years are observable. Even further away are observable galaxies with several billion stars. The Andromeda galaxy can be observed with the naked eye at a distance of around 2.5 million light years. Similarly, the observability of supernovae also allows a visual range beyond the Milky Way galaxy. Visual range depends first on the properties of the material between observer and object and its interaction processes with radiation, but second also on our visual perception system. After a rough comparison of ranges in water, glass, and the atmosphere, we focus on the physical basis of visual range for the latter. As a contrast phenomenon, visual range refers to allowed light paths within the atmosphere. It results from the interplay of geometry, refraction, and light scattering. We present a concise overview of this field by qualitative descriptions and quantitative estimates as well as classroom demonstration experiments. The starting point is the common geometrical visual ranges, followed by extensions due to refraction and limitations due to contrast, which depend on scattering and absorption processes within the atmosphere. The quantitative discussion of scattering is very helpful to easily understand the huge ranges in nature from meters in dense fog to hundreds of kilometers in clear atmospheres. Extreme visual ranges from about 300 km to above 500 km require optimal atmospheric conditions, cleverly chosen locations and times, and a sophisticated topography analysis. A user study with 15 participants was conducted in which users navigated predefined routes with varying difficulty. We collected both objective performance measurements and subjective user assessments. While touch-based methods yielded higher accuracy in objective metrics, TUI-based interactions were rated significantly better by participants in terms of user experience. Notably, the car-steering tangible control was particularly well-received, highlighting how physical, playful interaction can enhance usability despite lower accuracy. This phenomenon is known as artificial skyglow. Its consequences on freshwaters are largely unknown. In a large-scale lake enclosure experiment, we found that skyglow at levels of 0.06 and 6 lux increased the abundance of anoxygenic aerobic phototrophs and cyanobacteria by 32 (+/- 22) times. An ecosystem metabolome analysis revealed that skyglow increased the production of algal-derived metabolites, which appeared to stimulate heterotrophic activities as well. Furthermore, we found evidence that skyglow decreased the number of bacteria-bacteria interactions. Effects of skyglow were more pronounced at night, suggesting that responses to skyglow can occur on short time scales. Overall, our results call for considering skyglow as a reality of increasing importance for microbial communities and carbon cycling in lake ecosystems. Despite extensive work, the superconducting pairing symmetry in La3⁢Ni2⁢O7 remains unresolved, with conflicting results even for identical methods. We argue that different superconducting states in La3⁢Ni2⁢O7 are in close competition and highly sensitive to the choice of interaction parameters as well as pressure-induced changes in the electronic structure. Our study uses a multiorbital Hubbard model, incorporating all Ni 3⁢𝑑 and O 2⁢𝑝 states. We analyze the superconducting pairing mechanism of La3⁢Ni2⁢O7 within the random phase approximation and find a transition between 𝑑-wave and sign-changing 𝑠-wave pairing states as a function of pressure and interaction parameters, which is driven by spin fluctuations with different wave vectors. These spin fluctuations with incommensurate wave vectors cooperatively stabilize a superconducting order parameter with 𝑑𝑥2−𝑦2 symmetry for realistic model parameters. This study assesses the feasibility and benefits of serious games for people with mild to moderate dementia over a 10-week intervention. Sixty-one patients were recruited, with 35 completing the study. The intervention included six games focusing on physical and cognitive training. Outcome measures were motor function, cognitive assessments, quality of life, and depression. Results showed significant improvements in dynamic balance (p = .013) but no significant changes in other measures. The findings suggest that serious games are feasible and can improve motor functions like balance. However, short intervention periods may limit their impact on cognitive function and quality of life. Longer interventions and personalized game designs are recommended for greater benefits. ALAN attracts nocturnal insects from their native ecosystems and disturbs their functions in the food web. Road lights in this context are ubiquitous and relevant ALAN sources that are often not considered in conservation approaches. In a previous study we showed that shielded LED road lights are suited to be part of conservation measures by effectively reducing the attraction of nocturnal insects. Here we show that this positive effect holds true for parasitoid wasps in an experimental BACI design (Before-After-Control-Impact). Combining morphological with molecular and phylogenetic analyses, we identified 106 individuals (62 morphotypes) of a minimum of 45 genera out of 13 Hymenoptera families. We were able to identify 21 species, 11 of which are newly reported in Southern Germany (Baden-Württemberg). Further combining knowledge on life history and host appearance from our data and the literature, we discuss potential impacts of ALAN ranging from an influence on nocturnal pollination via parasitoid pressure on moth species and biological control of invasive pest species to tritrophic interactions between primary and secondary parasitoids. Zu diesen Monitoring-Systemen zählt Wazuh, welches in der Lage ist, die "Integrität" und "Vertraulichkeit" unter Zuhilfenahme von Agenten zu überwachen. Damit deckt Wazuh lediglich zwei der drei Schutzziele der IT-Sicherheit ab. Aus diesem Grund wird in dieser Bachelorarbeit untersucht, auf welche Art und Weise sich das SIEM und XDR System um Heartbeat Monitoring erweitern lässt. Dadurch wird Wazuh befähigt das dritte Schutzziel der IT-Sicherheit, die Verfügbarkeit, zu überwachen. Zu diesem Zweck wird eine Erweiterung der Wazuh-Implementierung um den Heartbeat Daemon des Elastic Stacks durchgeführt. Die Implementierung soll in der Lage sein, die Daten des Heartbeat Daemons zu empfangen, zu speichern, darzustellen und Benachrichtigungen auszulösen, sobald sich der Status von überwachten Systemkomponenten ändert. Um die Funktionalität dieses Proof of Concepts zu überprüfen wird Heartbeat Monitoring ebenfalls in einem Vergleichssystem umgesetzt. Dabei handelt es sich um die native Umgebung des Daemons, den Elastic Stack. Die Funktionalität des Elastic Stacks konnte auf unterschiedlichen Wegen reproduziert werden. Dies erfolgt zum einen durch die direkte Verarbeitung der Heartbeat-Ausgabe durch Wazuh. Alternativ besteht die Möglichkeit, die Heartbeat-Daten direkt in Wazuhs Datenbank zu schreiben. In Abhängigkeit der Version des Heartbeat-Daemons ist die Verwendung von Logstash als Middleware erforderlich. Das Darstellen der Daten ist für beide Methoden in Wazuhs Weboberfläche möglich. Das Erweitern von Wazuh um Heartbeat Monitoring ermöglicht der Software die Abdeckung der relevantesten Schutzziele der IT-Sicherheit. Zu diesem Zweck werden Proof-of-Concept-Anwendungen entwickelt, die auf den Webframeworks Spring MVC und Spring WebFlux basieren. Diese Anwendungen werden anschließend einem Stresstest unterzogen, um die Leistungsunterschiede der Threading-Modelle zu analysieren. Die Ergebnisse der Untersuchung legen nahe, dass die Verwendung von Virtual- Threads im Vergleich zu Platform-Threads in einer asynchronen Spring MVC- Architektur zu einer Reduktion der durchschnittlichen Antwortzeit um etwa 20 % und zu einer Steigerung des Durchsatzes um nahezu 20 % führt. N2 - The bachelor thesis analyzes the performance and resource utilization of platform and virtual threads in Java 21. In the context of the e-commerce platform of Telefónica Germany GmbH & Co. OHG, the question arises as to whether the newly introduced virtual threads can be used to optimize the company's current software development process. To this end, proof-of-concept applications based on the Spring MVC and Spring WebFlux web frameworks are being developed. These applications are then subjected to a stress test to analyze the performance differences between the threading models. The results of the investigation suggest that the use of virtual threads compared to platform threads in an asynchronous Spring MVC architecture leads to a reduction in the average response time of around 20% and an increase in throughput of almost 20%. Furthermore, a reduction in CPU and RAM utilization at maximum load of 11% and 13%, respectively, was observed. PSP is the estimation of the 3D structure of a protein, generally through deep learning architectures. Information about the geometry of the protein chain has been proven to be crucial for accurate predictions of 3D structures. However, this information is usually flattened as machine learning features that are not representative of the geometric nature of the problem. Leveraging recent advances in geometric deep learning, we redesign the 3D projector part of a PSP architecture with the addition of CGENN layers . CGENNs can achieve better generalization and robustness when dealing with data that show rotational or translational invariance such as protein coordinates, which are independent of the chosen reference frame. CGENNs inputs, outputs, weights and biases are objects in the Geometric Algebra of 3D Euclidean space, i.e. G3,0,0, and hence are interpretable from a geometrical perspective. With the addition of the GCAN we obtain a geometry-aware pipeline for camera pose regression from RGB images only. CGAPoseNet employs Clifford Geometric Algebra to unify quaternions and translation vectors into a single mathematical object, the motor, which can be used to uniquely describe camera poses. CGAPoseNet solves the issue of balancing rotation and translation components in the loss function, and can obtain comparable results to other approaches without the need of expensive tuning of the loss function or additional information about the scene, such as 3D point clouds, which might not always be available. CGAPoseNet, however, like several approaches in the literature, only learns to predict motor coefficients, and it is unaware of the mathematical space in which predictions sit in and of their geometrical meaning. By leveraging recent advances in Geometric Deep Learning, we modify CGAPoseNet with a GCAN: proposals of possible motor coefficients associated with a camera frame are obtained from the InceptionV3 backbone, and the GCAN downsamples them to a single motor through a sequence of layers that work in G_ 4, 0. The network is hence geometry-aware, has multivector-valued inputs, weights and biases and preserves the grade of the objects that it receives in input. CGAPoseNet+ GCAN has almost 4 million fewer trainable parameters, it reduces the average rotation error by 41% and the average translation error by 8.8% compared to CGAPoseNet. Similarly, it reduces rotation and translation errors by 32.6% and 19.9%, respectively, compared to the best performing PoseNet strategy. In this work we solve Maxwell's PDEs both in GA and STA employing the same ResNet architecture and dataset, to discuss the impact that the choice of the right algebra has on the accuracy of GA networks. Our study on STAResNet shows how the correct geometric embedding in Clifford Networks gives a mean square error (MSE), between ground truth and estimated fields, up to 2.6 times lower than than obtained with a standard Clifford ResNet with 6 times fewer trainable parameters. STAREsNet demonstrates consistently lower MSE and higher correlation regardless of scenario. The scenarios tested are: sampling period of the dataset; presence of obstacles with either seen or unseen configurations; the number of channels in the ResNet architecture; the number of rollout steps; whether the field is in 2D or 3D space. It has been demonstrated how this geometric structure of data can be captured effectively through networks sitting in Geometric Algebra (GA) that work with multivectors, making them suitable candidates to solve differential equations. GA networks however, are still mostly uncharted territory. In this paper we focus on non-linearities, since applying them to multivectors is not a trivial task: they are generally applied in a point-wise fashion over each real-valued component of a multivector. This approach discards interactions between different elements of the multivector input and compromises the geometric nature of GA networks. To bridge this gap, we propose GA-ReLU, a GA approach to the rectified linear unit (ReLU), and show how it can improve the solution of Navier-Stokes PDEs. The luminaires are individually tailored to only emit light onto the target area and to reduce spill light. In addition, a customized shielding renders the light source nearly invisible beyond the lit area. We show that these novel luminaires significantly reduce the attraction effect on flying insects compared to different conventional luminaires with the same illuminance on the ground. This underlines the huge potential of spatially optimized lighting to help to bend the curve of global insect decline without compromising human safety aspects. In dieser Arbeit wird ein neuer Ansatz anhand eines Fallbeispiels vorgestellt. Der An- satz zielt darauf ab, Daten- und Versionierungsstrukturen in einem relationalen Da- tenmodell zu vereinigen und dabei eine einfache Integration von Geschäftsprozessen zu ermöglichen. Insbesondere wird darauf geachtet, dass die Erzwingung des korrekten Ablaufs von Geschäftsprozessen durch eine maschinelle Umsetzung derselben möglich ist. Das Datenmodell beinhaltet eine vollständige Versionierungshistorie in Form eines gerichteten zyklenlosen Graphen. Hiermit bietet es eine breit anwendbare Lösung zur Datenversionierung, die zudem gut in bestehende Abläufe und Datensätze integrierbar ist. N2 - Versioning of Datasets is a highly complex problem whose solutions are required to take many different aspects into account. As such, no universally applicable approach has been published yet. Various authors have tried and developed solutions for their own use cases. In this thesis, we present our approach based on our use case. The approach shown here aims to unify structures for data persistence and version control into a single data model and to allow a seamless integration of business processes. In particular, the aim is to ensure that an enforcement of business processes via an automated execution of said processes is easily possible. The data model delivers a complete version history as a directed non-cyclic graph. As such, it offers a widely applicable solution for data versioning in small systems, which is also easily integratable into existing data sets, processes and structures. This thesis presents the combined data model and explains its appliation using generic examples. Afterwards, the funcionality of the approach in a real-life setting is demonstrated with our use case of managing the curricula of the Department of Computer Science and Media at the Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences. The aim of the research was to elucidate the effects of hand and massage chair massage on the biomechanical parameters of muscles of lower limbs and back, indicators of Pain Pressure Thresholds (PPT) and subjectively perceived fatigue. A total of 32 female recreational athletes (18 – 50 years old) were assigned to a hand massage, massage chair, or lying down the group. They were measured for muscle biomechanical properties (MyotonPro), PPT (Wagner Instruments) and subjectively perceived fatigue (VAS scale) before and after fatigue tests and treatment. The recovery procedure and subjective satisfaction with treatment were rated on a Likert scale. Changes in the median value of m. rectus femoris and m. gastrocnemius stiffness with treatment showed that hand massage could be more effective in reducing stiffness, as compared to chair massage. Hand massage may have benefits for recovery from physical exertion, but due to the individuality of subjects, detailed methodological studies are needed to evaluate the effects of massage chair vs. hand massage. This work describes the development and usage of a new software called FINEconcepts which creates a digital twin of an energy system. This virtual model can then be used to optimize the energy system based on annual costs, CO2 emissions or other relevant criteria such as self-sufficiency. Because all system components, which include renewable technologies as well, can be added as a building block with chosen but changeable parameters, the software allows the user to explore and awaken interest and understanding of technologies that were previously considered too costly, irrelevant, or unrealistic. Implemented projects in small and large companies as well as in residential areas did prove, that the usage of FINEconcepts leads not only to more efficient energy systems by increasing the use of renewable energy, but also increased knowledge and understanding in terms of energy. Zur Beantwortung der Forschungsfragen wurde der methodische Ansatz einer Literatur- und Internetrecherche verwendet. Aus der Analyse konnten drei Online Business Plattformen identifiziert, sowie deren Vor- und Nachteile gegenüber Content Management Systemen dargestellt werden. Anschließend wurden Kriterien definiert und Empfehlungen dargelegt, welche kleine und mittlere Unternehmen im Entscheidungsprozess unterstützen sollen. Letztlich wurden die Einrichtung sowie die wichtigsten Funktionen einer Plattform dargestellt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Nutzung einer Onlineplattform für lokal begrenze Unternehmen mit geringen Anforderungen an die Funktionalität und hoher Kostensensibilität eine sinnvolle Alternative ist. N2 - Digitalization is one of the big challenges of our time. Along with the increased online life, the importance for companies to establish a representative online presence is growing as well. Especially for small and medium size companies, the operation and maintenance of an online presence means a high effort in terms of time and financial investment. The aim of this study is to provide an alternative to common content management systems for small medium size companies. In addition, they should be supported in the decision making process. To answer the research questions the methodical approach of a literature and internet research was used. From the analysis, three online business platforms were identified and their advantages and disadvantages compared to content management systems were presented. Subsequently, criteria were defined and recommendations were presented, which should support small and medium-sized enterprises in the decision-making process. Finally, the setup as well as the most important functions of a platform were presented. The results show that the use of an online platform is a sensible alternative for locally limited companies with low functionality requirements and high cost sensitivity. One significant source of potential vulnerabilities is medical cyber-physical systems (MCPS). Detecting intrusions in this environment faces challenges different from other domains, mainly due to the heterogeneity of devices, the diversity of connectivity types, and the variety of terminology. To summarize existing results, we conducted a structured literature review (SLR) following the guidelines of Kitchenham et al. for SLRs in software engineering. We developed six research questions regarding detection approach, detection location, included features, adversarial focus, utilized datasets, and intrusion prevention. We identified that most researchers focused on an anomaly-based detection approach at the network layer. The primary focus was on the detection of malicious insiders. While several researchers used publicly available datasets for training and testing their algorithms, the lack of suitable datasets resulted in the development of testbeds consisting of various medical devices. Based on the results, we formulated five future research topics. First, the special conditions of hospital networks, the MCPS deployed within them, and the contrasts to other IT and OT environments should be examined. Thereupon, MCPS-specific datasets should be created that allow researchers to address the health domain’s unique requirements and possibilities. At the same time, endeavors aimed at standardization in this area should be supported and expanded. Moreover, the use of medical context for attack detection should be further explored. Last but not least, efforts for MCPS-tailored intrusion prevention should be intensified.
