Conferences are filled with discussion, presentations, and analysis of what catalogues and cataloguing will be in the future. Reports on the topic abound. Yet despite the arrival and implementation of RDA, and the strong attention being paid toward BIBFRAME, library cataloguing still looks essentially like it did when the earliest computer-based MARC cataloguing systems were implemented. So how do libraries truly embrace the lessons and technology from the information community outside of libraries, and evolve (perhaps revolutionize) our systems and processes to take advantage of what other communities are doing? A key place to start is people. This presentation will discuss what skills and competencies cataloguers of the future should have to lead progress, and postulate what future catalogues and cataloguing systems will look like. Be prepared: it´s likely to be pretty different. (Session: Treffpunkt Standardisierung: Fit für RDA; Raum: Sydney; 29. Mai 2015: 09:00 Uhr - 12:00 Uhr)
