SMILE: making the most of other people's work - not reinventing the wheel!
- SMILE stands for Study Methods and Information Literacy Exemplars, a blended learning approach to teaching information literacy and communication skills. It is an online information literacy course the Saltire Centre of Glasgow Caledonian University makes available on a BlackBoard VLE (Virtual Learning Environment), and uses OER (Open Educational Resources). SMILE was orginally created as a JISC (Joint Information Systems Committee) project jointly by Imperial College London, Loughborough University and the University of Worchester. It uses audio and video as well as web pages.
- SMILE steht für das Akronym von "Study Methods and Information Literacy Exemplars", ein blended learning-Zugang um Informationskompetenz und Kommunikations-Qualifikationen zu lehren. Es handelt sich dabei um einen Online-Informationskompetenz-Kurs des Saltire Centre of Glasgow Caledonian University, das auf einem BlackBoard VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) läuft und OER (Open Educational Resources = Freie Bildungsinhalte) benutzt. SMILE war uhrsprünglich als ein JISC (Joint Information Systems Committee)-Projekt erstellt worden. Es verwendet Audio- und Video-Einheiten ebenso wie Webseiten.
