Transforming Libraries into Dynamic Digital Learning Spaces: Experiences and Opportunities

  • As libraries evolve into dynamic hubs of digital learning, the integration of innovative technologies becomes imperative. This proposal highlights our commitment to this transformative journey, offering insights into the various digital spaces we've curated to enhance interactive student education in information literacy, as well as demonstrating the diverse opportunities that arise for libraries. Our library's digital learning initiatives encompass a range of engaging activities, including training sessions and workshops. A significant focus lies in empowering students through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, exemplified by workshops exploring the integration of ChatGPT and other tools into academic work. Furthermore, our Digital Writing Retreat stands out as a unique opportunity for students immersed in thesis work. This retreat fosters collaborative exchanges among students, incorporating AI tools that facilitate the writing process. To ensure continuous support, we provide our students with video recordings of all of our training sessions and workshops. Indeed, our workshop videos additionally incorporate interactive components that allow students to participate independently and at any time. We have also established a dedicated Microsoft Teams Channel where students can post short questions related to the library and information services. Our staff promptly responds, fostering a communal knowledge-sharing environment. Additionally, we utilize the Teams Channel to disseminate updates, share tips and tricks, and offer regular open office hours. Throughout all our interactive sessions, we prioritize feedback through participant surveys using Mentimeter. We will present some of our findings. Join us in exploring the potential of libraries as digital learning spaces and fostering a collaborative and supportive international academic community.
