TY - GEN A1 - Dwivedi, Mamta A1 - Burk, Steffen T1 - Realizing the Open Science Movement: Two Pathfinding Projects at the KIT-Library T2 - TK 4: Forschungsnahe Dienste und Open Science/ Towards Open Science (04.06.2024, 16:00 - 18:00, Saal C.1 / 1. OG) N2 - In recent years, the KIT Library has emerged as an active advocate of the Open Science movement, establishing a robust infrastructure to host and support the KIT’s scientific community for publication of their scientific research data, dissertations, and monographs as openly accessible. To further solidify our commitment as a transparent and accessible partner to the scientific community at KIT, the library initiated two BMBF-funded projects, “Diamond Thinking” and “ERRED” in October 2023. DONAU4KIT (Diamond Open Access Journals at KIT) is a service initiative of the Diamond Thinking, which will offer financial and procedural consultancy services to the scientific communities for founding of new Diamond Open Access journals as well as for the “flipping” of the existing Open Access journals that are currently published by commercial publishers. The journals that adopt the Diamond Open Access model – free to publish for the authors and free to read – will also provide a better understanding of the existing quality assessment models. In addition, the ERRED project will develop and test a new set of indicators for evaluating researchers and their scientific output. The aim of the project is to develop a model for reporting in scientific institutions based on the requirements of the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) and the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA). Together, these projects will serve as a laboratory at the KIT-Library, aiming to find practical, feasible, and replicable solutions to the challenges faced by scientists and the societies that support scientific research. In order to understand the demands and the sentiments of the scientific communities, we plan to stay in contact with the scientific community at KIT through a series of surveys and feedback, both direct and indirect. Representing KIT-Library, we look forward to presenting and discussing the results from the first six months of these two projects. Y1 - 2024 ER -
