TY - GEN A1 - Šandová, Hana T1 - From Books to Bytes: Bridging Creativity and Technology in PUDA Makerspace in Small Town Policka Municipal Library T2 - Themenkreis 4: Bibliotheken – Services und Angebote/ European Ways of Libraries (26.06.2025, 14:00 - 16:30, Halle 4.1./ Raum II) N2 - In the small town of Polička, our library has transformed from a traditional repository of knowledge into a vibrant hub of creativity and innovation. The PUDA Makerspace, located within our library, serves as a cornerstone for community engagement, lifelong learning, and skill development. This presentation will explore the journey of establishing and nurturing a makerspace in a small-town context. From initial planning and securing resources to overcoming and dealing challenges unique to rural areas, we will share insights into creating an accessible space equipped with technologies such as 3D printers, laser cutters, robots and creative software. Our makerspace has become a platform for individuals of all ages to collaborate, innovate, and grow. Through workshops, school partnerships, and community events, we empower residents to explore new skills, from crafting and coding to engineering and design. The session will highlight success stories, including how local artisans, students, and hobbyists have leveraged the makerspace to create meaningful projects. It will also address the broader impact on community cohesion, education, and economic opportunity in Polička. Join us as we demonstrate how even a small-town library can spark big ideas and inspire a culture of making.
