The Vision Tour consisted of visits to 35 outstanding school libraries throughout the United States this school year. What are the will the unique characteristics of these programs in the areas of facilities, programs, teaching, personnel, and geographic location? What can we learn from them to improve school libraries internationally? Dr. Melissa Johnston of the University of Kentucky, will present the changing roles of the school librarian in the United States. In order to respond to the changing education climate, The American Association of School Librarians conducted a survey of the membership to identify the responsibilities of the school librarian in the 21st century. Five roles of the school librarian emerged as: leader, instructional partner, information specialist, teacher, and program administrator. It constructs knowledge about how education for school librarianship is received in Germany by measuring the perceptions of library science educators, library school students, and librarians in Germany in 2016. The Concerns Based Adoption Model (CBAM) theory and methodology was used to measure these perception S. Coursework that focuses on the unique contributions of a school librarian is currently not available in Germany and could be a first step to realizing an impact on PISA reading literacy scores, which have been lagging. This study garnered 183 participants from various employment backgrounds, ages, levels of education, and states in Germany in order to answer the following research questions: 1) What are the two highest stages of concern for librarians, library science educators, and library science students' regarding the readiness for school librarianship education in Germany? 2) What are librarians, library science educators, and library science students' feelings and knowledge regarding the readiness for school librarianship education in Germany?
