Um den Klimawandel wirksam zu bekämpfen, ist es entscheidend, fossile Brennstoffe durch erneuerbare Energiequellen wie Wind-, Solar- und Wasserkraft sowie alternative Energieträger, beispielsweise grünen Wasserstoff, zu ersetzen. Offshore-Windenergie spielt hierbei eine zentrale Rolle, da sie dank der Kombination aus globaler Verfügbarkeit, relativ geringen Betriebskosten und fortgeschrittenem technischen Entwicklungsstand besonders geeignet ist, zur regenerativen Stromerzeugung beizutragen. Sie ist zudem ein Schlüsselelement für die Umsetzung des Europäischen Green Deals, der das Ziel verfolgt, bis 2050 Klimaneutralität in der EU zu erreichen. Expertenschätzungen zufolge ist eine Steigerung der aktuellen Kapazität von 25 GW im Jahr 2020 auf etwa 450 GW notwendig, um diese ambitionierten Ziele zu erfüllen.
Bei der Entwicklung zukünftiger Offshore-Windparks, insbesondere in tieferen Gewässern, gewinnen Jacket-Gründungsstrukturen an Bedeutung. Diese Strukturen, die eine höhere Steifigkeit bei geringerem Materialeinsatz im Vergleich zu den bisher vorherrschenden Monopile-Gründungen bieten, basieren auf komplexen, räumlich aufgelösten Konstruktionen, die ähnlich den Öl- und Gasplattformen entwickelt werden. Die Herstellung der Jacketknoten, die bislang überwiegend manuell geschweißt wurden, birgt erhebliches Optimierungspotential. Durch Automatisierung und Digitalisierung der Fertigungsprozesse könnten nicht nur die Effizienz gesteigert, sondern auch die Qualität der Endprodukte durch präzise Überwachung und Kontrolle der Produktionsparameter verbessert werden. Diese technologischen Fortschritte sind für die Skalierung der Offshore-Windenergie und die Erreichung der Klimaziele von entscheidender Bedeutung.
Diese Hinweisbroschüre erläutert allgemeine Planungsvoraussetzungen und Dimensionierungsregelungen, Baugrundsätze und Zulassungsbedingungen zur Anwendung innovativer Belagsdehnfugensysteme (Fahrbahnübergangskonstruktionen) in hochbeanspruchten Verkehrsflächen des Bundesfernstraßenbereiches. Alle planungsrelevanten, baustoffrelevanten, versuchstechnische, qualitätssichernden und baupraktischen Aspekte werden zur Unterstützung der Straßenbauverwaltungen, der Lieferfirmen und Ausführungsbetriebe erläutert. Die Veröffentlichung stellt eine technische Analyse aus Erfahrungssammlungen und Auswertung praktischer Erkenntnisse dar.
minimum explosion concentration (MEC) and limiting oxygen concentration (LOC) in our recent works. This work further studies the reasonability and reliability of the alternative method experimentally and theoretically. Six different dust samples were tested via a 20-L spherical explosion chamber. The experimental results showed that the data of MEC and LOC determined by using the alternative and the standardized methods are in good agreement. The minimum flame propagation velocity (Sf) and the corresponding maximum combustion duration time (tc) were found at its MEC and LOC, suggesting that the theoretical analysis can well explain all the experimental data. It is the first time to study the theoretical basis of the explosion criterion, thus helping to improve our understandings of dust explosion characteristics, and to amend the explosion criterion in future test standards.
Beton ist weltweit einer der wichtigsten Konstruktionswerkstoffe und zeichnet sich durch eine enorme Anpassungsfähigkeit an sich verändernde Anforderungen aus. Damit verbunden ist eine hohe und kontinuierlich zunehmende Komplexität hinsichtlich der Ausgangsstoffe, Rezepturen und des Herstellungsprozesses. Folglich setzt eine Ausschöpfung des technischen und umweltbezogenen Potenzials der Betonbauweise höchste Expertise bei den Einzelakteuren der Bauindustrie voraus.
Der Beitrag berichtet von einer aufwändigen Messkampagne vor Ort, mit der die Emissionen direkt an einer Rohzementmühle, die Transmissionen im Baugrund und die Immissionen in benachbarten Bebauungen genauer untersucht wurden. Im Ergebnis der ausgewerteten Messungen sowie strukturdynamischer Berechnungen zeigte sich, dass der Baugrund zwar aus statischer Sicht sehr gut tragfähig, aber dynamisch als eher ungünstig zu beurteilen ist. Weiterhin wurde festgestellt, dass in dynamischer Hinsicht ein vorgenommener Bodenaustausch tendenziell eine Verschlechterung der Aufstellbedingungen darstellte. Für das betroffene Bürogebäude konnte nachgewiesen werden, dass durch den Betrieb der Zementmühle die Anregung der Deckeneigenfrequenzen zu deutlich spürbaren Resonanzschwingungen führte. Aufgrund der tieffrequenten Anregung durch den Mühlenbetrieb sind Maßnahmen zur Minderung der Schwingungsemissionen generell und insbesondere nach erfolgter Aufstellung der Mühle schwer bzw. gar nicht zu realisieren. Im Beitrag wird daher darauf eingegangen, auf welche Aspekte bei der Planung zur Aufstellung derart großer Mühlen zwingend zu achten ist.
The evaluation of technical components and materials in terms of condition and quality with the aid of non-destructive testing methods plays an outstanding role both in industrial serial production and in the individual assessment of components. The ultrasonic echo method is used for a wide variety of testing tasks, such as measuring the thickness of a component. At the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) in Berlin, test methods are developed and their performance is demonstrated. For this purpose, references such as materials, test procedures or data sets are generated, which are used to evaluate these developed test methods. An important component of these references are data sets that are created according to the BAM Data Policy and made available to the scientific community and users of test methods in practice on the basis of the FAIR principles (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reuse).
Viscosity modifying agents: Key components of advanced cement-based materials with adapted rheology

Viscosity modifying agents (VMAs) are essential ingredients for the production of flowable cement-based materials. This paper presents an overview of commonly used VMAs and attempts to shed some light on the underlying physics at the origin of their mechanisms of action. The main molecular parameters of VMA controlling the rheological properties of the cement pore solution are highlighted. As the mechanisms of action of VMAs in cement-based materials are closely related to their affinity with the surface of cement particles, the adsorption of the main VMA types is discussed. The effect of VMAs on flow properties and stability of cement-based materials is presented for VMAs added without any superplasticizer, and then in systems incorporating both VMAs and superplasticizers. Finally, the effect of VMAs in enhancing concrete properties to secure adequate performance of different construction applications, and perspectives for future developments of novel cement-based materials made with VMAs are showcased.
Synopsis: The paper presents the results of a study on the influence of agitation on the structural build-up of fresh cement pastes using a penetration test. It first presents results about the influence of the penetrating shape’s geometry on the influence on the cement paste specimen. Then, results are shown for the load-deflection curves depending upon time and agitation before testing. Based on the observation of the force required to penetrate the sample, conclusions on the structural build-up can be made. The observations were made over the course of time with samples that were left at rest and partly agitated before testing at different time steps. The setup allows to identify the contribution of the chemical reaction to the structural build-up process. The presence of superplasticizer obviously reduces the load that cement paste can withstand, while the loss of thixotropy is found notably lower than that of neat cement pates
Synopsis: Lately, there has been rising attention to superplasticizers (SP) based on polyphosphate esters. However, the influence of the molecular structure of the polyphosphate polymers on time-dependent properties such as structural build-up has not been examined yet intensively. To investigate this effect, three comb polyphosphate superplasticizers with different charge densities were synthesised by free radical polymerisation. Our findings indicate that SP with the lowest and medium charge densities extend the induction period more strongly than the SP with the highest charge density. The reduction of the structural build-up rate is linearly dependent on the dosage and concentration of the functional group of polyphosphate SP in the cementitious system. This study proposes a mathematical equation expressing the relationship between the structural build-up rate during the induction period and the molecular structure of the polyphosphate SP.
