Dieses Kompendium ist ein kurzgefasster Abriss, ein Leitfaden und auch ein Handbuch der für den Einsatz im Bauwesen geeigneten zerstörungsfreien Prüfverfahren. In strenger, stets gleicher Gliederung wird jede der mehr als 100 Untersuchungsmethoden in einem eigenen Geräteblatt beschrieben. Hinzu kommen Querverweise zu alternativen Prüfmethoden sowie zahlreiche Hinweise auf einschlägige Fachliteratur und zu bekannt gewordenen Geräteherstellern, Lieferanten und Dienstleistern.

The German Society for Non-destructive Testing (DGZfP) is a center of activity in research, development, application and dissemination concerning non-destructive testing (NDT) methods. The transfer of results from research to practical application is one of the main targets. Therefore the Technical Committee NDT in Civil Engineering has published ten guidelines providing information from scientifical background to practical application concerning NDT-methods like radar, ultrasonic and radiography. Considering radar for example the content and structure of these guidelines is described below. To contribute to harmonization of European regulations and standards these guidelines should be transferred into the English language area. They can serve as a basis for harmonized European standards.
The performance and reliability of NDT-CE methods must be assured to establish these methods for standard testing in construction and structure management. To develop and test NDT-methods as well as to investigate their reliability specimens with well-defined properties (defects and dimension) are needed. The design and construction of a large concrete specimen (40 m2) with various fixtures to simulate compaction faults, grouting faults and the variation of dimensions is described.
Pile testing as a NDT-CE (non-destructive-testing in civil engineering) method provides information about the condition of foundations. It is also used as a tool for quality control. Real size test fields with sound piles, piles with flaws and piles connected with a foundation allow calibration of measurement devices and method comparison under "real" conditions. Such a site is planned on a BAM testing area south of Berlin. The joint use facilitates the establishment of the testing site as a national or European reference site.
