The experiments revealed that the purity of the Zn metal produced were superior using activated Al with respect to inactivated Al, i.e., m5N8 (99.9998% metallic based) versus m5N3. The achieved purity levels of Zn and the absence of high volatile Cd, Mg, and Sb impurities in the gas phase and the material collected were explained with respect to the impurity elements free-energy values, vapor pressure data, and an observed scavenging effect of the Ta crucible, which was supported by the on-line observed mass spectrometric profiles of the residual gas. High-volatile impurities were removed from the zinc matrix by vacuum evaporation, while traces having lower volatility than the matrix remained in the residual material after finishing of the entire purification process. The time required for the removal of the main high-volatile impurity (Cd) was monitored using a connected gas source mass spectrometer. During distillation the Zn vapor of the distillate was condensed on the cap of a glassy carbon crucible which was water cooled by a movable copper block. The temperatures were optimized for the removal of the volatiles and for the distillation process using vapor pressure data. High resolution glow discharge mass spectrometry was applied for the analysis and purity evaluation of the distilled and input zinc. The analysis confirmed the reduction of the metallic impurities from 43 mg kg-1 to 0.5 mg kg-1 (m6N5) after three consecutive vacuum distillations. An increase in the grain size and a decrease in the micro-hardness were observed for the purified Zn material. The results provide evidence of changes in chemical composition of the pollen grains during germination. From the comparison of spectra of the pollen grain body and the growing pollen tube, it can be concluded that there are major chemical differences between these two morphological units. Comparison of germinated and ungerminated pollen grains reveals alterations in the metabolism. Composition of the germinating pollen grain and its morphological units depends on the plant species, but also on the nutrient conditions. The results suggest species-specific utilization of metabolite storage, and potential alterations of the pollen outer coat. Furthermore, discharge of molecules into the nutrient medium may depend on the nutrient conditions in the germination experiments. This has implications for further experiments on dynamic processes in pollen and related plant materials. This is the first time that online mass spectrometric information was used as a tool for monitoring and understanding the chemical reduction process mechanism. We have observed four different types of reaction taking place: (1) distillation of Zn metal, (2) reduction of ZnO by activated Al, (3) melting of Al and finally (4) reduction of ZnO by inactivated Al. The experimental conditions and results observed by QMS were supported with literature data and physical measurement data from X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) which gave us an idea about the complex reaction cascade which occurred during the formation of the zinc metal. T1 - Modeling fire scenarios in buildings with CFD N2 - In the frame of the European harmonization, new European technical standards (Eurocodes) have been developed in recent years. Classical methods, like tables and simplified analytical procedures, as well as general engineering techniques are allowed by the Eurocodes for the fire protection design. The modeling and calculation of fire scenarios with CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) numerical methods is one of the general engineering methods. It is nowadays still difficult to check and evaluate the CFD results for their use as technical documents for fire safety design. Analytical engineering techniques, zone models and CFD-models have been used and compared in the present work for the prediction of the fire development in a building. To solve the conservation equation for the CFD-model, the CFD-program FDS, with the mixture fraction model, and the CFD-program FLUENT, with the one step reaction model as well as with the volumetric source term model, have been used. The combustion of polyurethane is modeled in FDS by specifying the heat release rate and the stoichiometry. For the combustion in volumetric source term model, the heat release rate and the smoke release were specified with respect to the stoichiometry. The input parameter for the one step reaction model is the pyrolysis mass flow. In the one step reaction model, the transport equations for polyurethane, H₂O, N₂, O₂, CO₂, CO and C (soot) are solved and the heat of combustion is determined from the standard formation enthalpy of all the components. In volumetric source term model, the transport equation is solved for air and smoke. FDS solves the transport equation for the mixture fraction. To model the fire development, and where no literature data was available, the required material characteristics like specific heat capacity, absorption coefficient and heat of combustion were measured. In all the investigated CFD-models the heat- and species transport equation has been solved and the absorption coefficient of soot has been considered. Furthermore, the fire development has also been investigated using zone models with the programs CFAST and MRFC. Results from analytical engineering techniques (plume calculations), which were design criteria in the past, have been used as plausibility checks for the present work. The calculation results from the investigations were compared to measurements in the same building performed by the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST). T1 - Influence of different organic amendments on the potential availability of metals from soil: A study on metal fractionation and extraction kinetics by EDTA N2 - The effects of long-term application of different organic amendments, as compared to mineral fertilizer, on Zn, Cu and Pb content and leachability in a luvisol derived from loess were assessed. The organic fertilizers, applied since 1962, were compost (COM) – from green organic household waste, sewage sludge (SLU) – from municipal water treatment facilities, farmyard manure (FYM) and the doses applied since 1997 were 90 t ha-1, 10 t ha-1 and 9 t ha-1, once in 3 years, respectively. The kinetics of metals extraction with 0.05 mol dm-3 EDTA at pH 6.0 has been studied. The two first-order reactions model was fitted to the kinetic data and allowed to distinguish two pools for each metal: a 'labile' fraction (Q1), quickly extracted with a rate constant k1, and a 'moderately labile' fraction (Q2), more slowly extracted, with a rate constant k2. Simultaneously, the pseudo-total metal contents in the soil samples were determined after digestion with aqua regia (3:1 HCl + HNO3). The obtained parameters Q1, k1, Q2, k2, for the kinetics of extraction of each metal in the three replicates of each fertilization mode, as well as the pseudo-total metal contents, were statistically analysed. COM and SLU application resulted in an increase of the total contents of Pb, Zn and Cu in soil. Further, the percentage of labile Zn and Pb also increased in consequence of the application of those amendments, particularly COM. The increase was more noticeable for Zn. FYM, despite not increasing the total content of Pb, Zn or Cu, did also have an effect on the leachability of Zn and Pb, increasing their labile fraction in soil. These results point to a potential risk of increasing metals mobility in soil, mainly Zn, associated to the use of organic amendments, particularly COM or SLU. T1 - Modified paramagnetic beads in a microfluidic system for the determination of ethinylestradiol (EE2) in river water samples N2 - In this work, we have developed and characterized a novel microfluidic immunoassay methodology for rapid and sensitive quantification of ethinylestradiol (EE2) in river water samples. The detection of EE2 was carried out using a competitive direct immunoassay method based on the use of anti-EE2 polyclonal antibodies immobilized on magnetic microspheres 3-aminopropyl-modified manipulated for an external removable magnet. The EE2 present in the water sample was allowed to compete with EE2-horseradish peroxidase (HPR) conjugated for the immobilized anti-EE2 antibody. The HPR, in the presence of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) catalyzes the oxidation of catechol (Q) whose back electrochemical reduction was detected on gold electrode at 0.0 V. The response current obtained from the product of enzymatic reaction is inversely proportional to the amount of EE2 in the water sample. The electrochemical detection can be done within 1 min and total assay time was 30 min. The calculated detection limits for electrochemical detection and the ELISA procedure are 0.09 and 0.32 ng L-1 respectively and the intra- and inter-assay coefficients of variation were below 5.8%. Our electrochemical immunosensor showed higher sensitivity and lower time consumed than the standard spectrophotometric detection ELISA method, which shows the potential for assessment of EE2 in river water samples. T1 - Sorption-desorption behavior of atrazine on soils subjected to different organic long-term amendments N2 - Sorption of atrazine on soils subjected to three different organic amendments was measured using a batch equilibrium technique. A higher KF value (2.20 kg-1(mg L-1)-N) was obtained for soil fertilized with compost, which had a higher organic matter (OM) content. A correlation between the KFOC values and the percentage of aromatic carbon in OM was observed. The highest KFOC value was obtained for the soil with the highest aromatic content. Higher aromatic content results in higher hydrophobicity of OM, and hydrophobic interactions play a key role in binding of atrazine. On the other hand, the soil amended with farmyard manure had a higher content of carboxylic units, which could be responsible for hydrogen bonding between atrazine and OM. Dominance of hydrogen bonds compared to hydrophobic interactions can be responsible for the lower desorption capacity observed with the farmyard manure soil. The stronger hydrogen bonding can reduce the leaching of atrazine into drinking water resources and runoff to rivers and other surface waters. In the case of liquid adsorption (LA), the extraction of information on solids immediately becomes a more sophisticated matter since information on geometric as well energetic parameters of the solids is both superposed by liquid-mixture effects and displayed in excess terms. We have to ask if reliable solid parameters can be also obtained from LA isotherms. The enlarged data bank of gas and liquid adsorption measurements enables us to change systematically solid parameters (e.g., the pore width of MCM-41, the pore entrances of SBA-16, chemical heterogeneity) and to study in this way the influence of solid parameters on LA. A highly selective antibody could provide the necessary specificity to the detection process. To obtain antibodies, a hapten made from acetone, hydrogen peroxide, and 7-oxooctanoic acid has been designed, synthesized, and confirmed by NMR that displays the utmost similarity to the analyte. The single-crystal X-ray structures of the solvated species TATP·methanol (1:1) and the TATP derivate were determined. In both compounds, the molecules exhibit D3 symmetry and adopt a twisted boat-chair conformation. The hapten was coupled to bovine serum albumin, and mice were immunized. An immune response against TATP was elicited, and selective antibodies were detected in the mouse serum, which should be very useful for the development of a TATP biosensor system. An ELISA with a limit of detection for TATP of 65 µg L-1 is shown. Such systems exhibit the phenomenon of "salting out by a nearcritical gas". That phenomenon is often observed at temperatures around the critical temperature of the gas in liquid mixtures where at least one of the liquid components is a good solvent for that gas. New experimental results for both the L1L2V equilibrium and the corresponding critical endpoint lines of the two ternary systems (carbon dioxide + methanol + 1-n-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate [bmim][PF6]) and (carbon dioxide + 1-butanol + 1-n-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide [hmim][Tf2N]) at temperatures between 293 and 333 K are reported. The experiments were performed with an "analytical method". The liquid–liquid phase split exists only at pressures between a lower critical endpoint line (where both liquid phases become critical and coexist with a vapor phase) and an upper critical endpoint line (where one of the phases becomes critical with the vapor phase while the critical phases coexist with another liquid phase). The compositions of the coexisting three phases L1, L2, and V differ considerably; a high-density, ionic liquid-rich liquid phase (L1) coexists with an alkanol-rich liquid phase (L2) of lower density and a vapor phase (V) that is virtually ionic liquid-free. For both systems, it was observed that, at constant temperature, increasing pressure shifts the L1 phase towards higher contents of ionic liquid and gas and less alkanol, whereas in the L2 phase the mole fractions of ionic liquid and alkanol decrease. Higher temperatures result in a smaller difference between the pressures of both critical endpoint lines. Experimental results for both critical endpoint lines and for the compositions of the coexisting liquid phases are reported. A1 - Sturm, Heinz T1 - Reduced bleaching in organic nanofibers by bilayer polymer/oxide coating N2 - Para-hexaphenylene (p-6P) molecules exhibit a characteristic photoinduced reaction (bleaching) resulting in a decrease in luminescence intensity upon UV light exposure, which could render the technological use of the nanofibers problematic. In order to investigate the photoinduced reaction in nanofibers, optical bleaching experiments have been performed by irradiating both pristine and coated nanofibers with UV light. Oxide coating materials (SiOx and Al2O3) were applied onto p-6P nanofibers. These treatments caused a reduction in the bleaching reaction but in addition, the nanofiber luminescence spectrum was significantly altered. It was observed that some polymer coatings [a statistical copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and 2,2-bis-trifluoromethyl-4,5-difluoro-1,3-dioxole, P(TFE-PDD), and poly(methyl methacrylate), PMMA] do not interfere with the luminescence spectrum from the p-6P but are not effective in stopping the bleaching. Bilayer coatings with first a polymer material, which should work as a protection layer to avoid modifications of the p-6P luminescence spectrum, and second an oxide layer used as oxygen blocker were tested and it was found that a particular bilayer polymer/oxide combination results in a significant reduction in bleaching without affecting significantly the emission spectrum from the nanofibers. For labelling, we applied secondary antibodies conjugated with gold nanoparticles for ICP-MS and with horseradish peroxidase for photometric detection, respectively. Detection limits of the assay were determined as 0.003 µg L-1 for both detection methods. OTA in wine was determined below the EU limit value of 2 µg kg-1. The measurement range was between 0.01 and 1 µg L-1 for ICP-MS and photometric detection. Assay precision detected by ICP-MS and photometry were similar showing that precision of the detection method has only a minor effect on total assay precision. By using BSA as a buffer additive to minimize nonspecific binding, we could also confirm that OTA strongly binds to BSA. In a comparison study of several additives, casein was found to be preferable. These substances can be used as an indicator for the presence of moulds in the indoor environment. Three different mould strains were cultivated on culture media and IMS spectra of gaseous mould metabolites were recorded using a portable mini system with a tritium source and a 5 cm drift cell. The headspace spectra are characteristic for mould species and their age. Typical gaseous components of the metabolites were identified and compared with results obtained from gas chromatography using a mass spectrometer detector. It was observed that the MVOCs formation depends on mould species and their growing stage with a maximum of MVOCs emission occurring during the first 10 days. These preliminary results show that IMS can be applied to detect MVOCs in indoor environment and indicate hidden mould growth. An acoustic levitator was employed as sample environment. This setup enables the acquisition of XRD and Raman data in situ simultaneously within a 20 s period and hence permits investigation of polymorphic phase transitions during the crystallization process in different solvents (methanol, ethanol, acetone, dichloromethane, acetonitrile). These real time measurements allow the determination of the phase content from the onset of the first crystalline molecular assemblies to the stable system. To evaluate the capability of this approach, the setup was applied to elucidate the crystallization process of the polymorphic compound nifedipine. The results indicate the existence of solvent-dependent transient phases during the crystallization process. The quality of the data allowed the assignment of the lattice constants of the hitherto unknown crystal structure of the β-polymorph. Ein viel versprechender Ansatz zur Gewinnung solcher Information ist die Analyse von Isotopenverhältnissen. In dieser Arbeit wurde der Zusammenhang zwischen den Isotopenverhältnissen 13C/12C, 15N/14N, 26Mg/24Mg und 87Sr/86Sr in Rinderproben (Milch, Urin) und den entsprechenden Isotopenverhältnissen im Futter untersucht. Es zeigte sich, dass alle vier untersuchten Isotopenverhältnisse in den Rinderproben von der Isotopenzusammensetzung des Futters abhängig sind. Ein Vorteil der Bestimmung der Isotopenverhältnisse von Strontium und Magnesium ist dabei, dass diese direkt das Isotopenverhältnis der aufgenommenen Nahrung reflektieren, da anders als bei den Kohlenstoff- und Stickstoffisotopenverhältnissen keine Isotopenfraktionierung im Rinderorganismus auftritt. Aus der in dieser Arbeit durchgeführten Fütterungsstudie geht hervor, dass ein Futterwechsel bereits innerhalb von 10 Tagen anhand der δ13C-Werte in der Milch und im Urin nachvollzogen werden kann. Bei den δ15N-Werten wurde eine veränderte Futterzusammensetzung lediglich im Rinderurin nach 49 Tagen sichtbar. Bei der Probenuntersuchung von Rindern aus zwei verschieden Standorten (Berlin und Göstling/Österreich), die darüber hinaus auch mit unterschiedlichen Futterzusammensetzungen ernährt wurden, stellte sich heraus, dass anhand der 15N/14N- und 26Mg/24Mg-Isotopenverhältnisse keine Unterschiede erkennbar sind. Der deutlichste Bezug zur Art der aufgenommenen Nahrung konnte dagegen in den Rinderproben für die Kohlenstoffisotope festgestellt werden. Selbst minimale Unterschiede im Futter ließen sich in den δ13C-Werten der Proben feststellen. Dadurch, dass regional sehr verschiedene Fütterungen bestehen, können bei unterschiedlichen δ13C-Werten des aufgenommenen Futters Proben von Rindern unterschiedlicher Herkunft unterschieden werden. Die Analyse der Strontiumisotopenverhältnisse zeigte darüber hinaus, dass zwischen den Rinderproben aus Berlin und Göstling aufgrund der unterschiedlichen geologischen Gegebenheiten ebenfalls signifikante Unterschiede sowohl in den Futtermitteln als auch in den Rinderproben nachweisbar sind. Die Kohlenstoff- und Strontiumisotopenverhältnisse ermöglichten demnach die bestmögliche Unterscheidung zwischen den Rinderproben aus unterschiedlichen Standorten. Zum Teil konnten hiermit auch Indizien für die unterschiedliche Form der Tierhaltung (konventionelle bzw. ökologische Tierhaltung) abgeleitet werden. N2 - Information about the origin of food and associated production systems has a high significance for food control. An extremely promising approach to obtain such Information is the determination of isotope ratios of different elements. In this study the correlation of the isotope ratios 13C/12C, 15N/14N, 26Mg/24Mg, and 87Sr/86Sr in bovine samples (milk and urine) and the corresponding isotope ratios in feed was investigated. It was shown that in the bovine samples all four isotope ratios correlate with the isotope composition of the feed. The isotope ratios of strontium and magnesium have the advantage that they directly reflect the isotope ratios of the ingested feed since there is no isotope fractionation in the bovine organism which is in contrast to the case of carbon and nitrogen isotope ratios. From the present feeding study it is evident, that a feed change leads to a significant change in the δ13C values in milk and urine within 10 days already. For the δ15N values the feed change was only visible in the bovine urine after 49 days. Investigations of cows from two different regions (Berlin/Germany and Göstling/Austria) kept at different feeding regimes revealed no differences in the 15N/14N and 26Mg/24Mg isotope ratios. The strongest correlation between the isotope ratio of the bovine samples and the kind of ingested feed was observed for the carbon isotope ratio. With this ratio even smallest differences in the feed composition were traceable in the bovine samples. Since different regions usually coincide with different feeding regimes, carbon isotope ratios can be used to distinguish bovine samples from different regions if the δ13C values of the ingested feed are different. Furthermore, the determination of strontium isotope ratios revealed significant differences between bovine and feed samples of Berlin and Göstling due to the different geologic realities. Hence the carbon and strontium isotope ratios allow the best discrimination between bovine samples of different locations. In some cases these ratios even show indications for the production system (conventional and organic cattle breeding). Enrichment of Gd in the ionic form has been compared with strong cation exchange material Chromabond SA (SCX), weak ion exchange material Chelex-100 and also with lanthanide specific HDEHP modified reverse phase C18. The determination of Gd and its complexes after enrichment were performed using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and on the basis of 158Gd. Among the three SPE materials, HDEHP coated reverse phase C18 SPE has been found to be most efficient, yielding a hundredfold Gd enrichment with > 95% recovery for linear and cyclic contrast agents like Gd-DTPA (Magnevist), Gd-DOTA (Dotarem), Gd-BOPTA (Multihance), and Gd-BT-DO3A (Gadovist). The developed SPE method has been successfully applied to the surface water and waste water samples originated from different places in Berlin, Germany. The results were in good agreement with the results obtained with direct measurement with ICP-MS. The developed pre-concentration method can be efficiently used for the determination of trace levels of gadolinium in the environment even with less sensitive analytical techniques. Beside their X-ray diffraction powder patterns, which were already published in the literature, 27Al and 19F MAS NMR, FT IR and XPS spectroscopic techniques were applied for all phases in a consistent manner. For all phases prepared the utilization of 27Al satellite transition (SATRAS) NMR allowed to determine the quadrupolar parameters of the aluminium sites including their distributions. A1 - Unger, Wolfgang T1 - Determination of accessible amino groups on surfaces by chemical derivatization with 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl isothiocyanate and XPS/NEXAFS analysis N2 - The determination of amino groups on surfaces capable of binding biomolecules is important for the understanding and optimization of technologically relevant coupling processes. In this study, three different types of amino-functionalized model surfaces, amino thiolate on Au, amino siloxane on Si, and polyethylene (PE) foils and films reacted with 1,2-diaminoethane (DAE) were derivatized with 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl isothiocyanate. Subsequently, these samples were analyzed by chemical derivatization X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (CD-XPS) and near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy (NEXAFS). The determination of amino groups by this analytical approach allows gaining insight into the availability of groups on surfaces that can actually serve as attachment sites for biomolecules in technical applications. In the case of the amino thiolate on Au, almost 90% of the expected amino groups were detected by CD-XPS. Investigation of the amino siloxane films revealed lower yields for the derivatization reaction in the order of 30%. The lowered reaction yields are thought to be due to interactions between the amino siloxane`s amino and silanol groups or the underlying substrate, making them inaccessible to the derivatization agent. The aminated PE samples are characterized by a complex surface chemistry and structure, and reaction yields of the derivatization reaction cannot be unequivocally derived. However, 1-3% of the total carbon atoms in the surface layer were found to be bound to amino groups accessible to the derivatization agent. It can be concluded that, depending on the detailed character of the investigated amino-terminated surface, the amount of amino groups accessible to CD-XPS can be substantially lower than the total amount of amino groups present at the surface. Carbohydrate microarrays are valuable tools to investigate interactions with other molecules since many glycans are involved in fundamental biological processes. A combined X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) surface analysis was used to investigate the basic steps in the production of carbohydrate microarrays. The preparation included coupling of a thiol-terminated mannoside to maleimide-functionalized glass surfaces derived from γ-aminopropyl silane (GAPS) slides. XPS results clearly demonstrate successful chemical modification in each fabrication step, and ToF-SIMS imaging revealed immobilized carbohydrates in the spotted regions of the final microarray. Two different ω-amino-4,4'-terphenyl substituted alkanethiols of the general structure H2N-(C6H4)3-(CH2)n-SH (ATPn) were used: 2-(4''-amino-1,1':4',1''-terphenyl-4-yl)ethane-1-thiol (n = 2, ATP2) and 3-(4''-amino-1,1':4',1''-terphenyl-4-yl)propane-1-thiol (n = 3, ATP3). Moreover, the addressability of amino groups within the films was investigated by chemical derivatization of ATPn SAMs with 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl isothiocyanate (ITC) forming fluorinated thiourea ATPn-F films. Evaluation of high-resolution C 1s and N 1s XPS data revealed successful derivatization of at least 50% of surface amino species. Therefore well defined procedures for the determination of lateral resolution are required. In the surface analysis community different definitions of lateral resolution are in use and there is no generally accepted method for the determination of lateral resolution which meets the demands of the state-of-the-art in surface analysis. We propose the determination of lateral resolution by imaging of well defined square-wave gratings with finely graded periods. This method enables the real time estimation of lateral resolution and the adjustment of instrument settings with respect to lateral resolution. The effect of noise and contrast on lateral resolution has been analysed by numerically simulated images of square-wave gratings. A new resolution criterion has been developed which is based on the dip-to-noise ratio and takes into account the sampling step width by introducing a "reduced noise". The contrast transfer function has been introduced and its relation to lateral resolution in the presence of noise was analysed. For that reason an "effective cut-off frequency" was defined which is the reciprocal of the lateral resolution. Normalized values of lateral resolution and their relation to signal-to-noise ratio and sampling step width were given for Gaussian and Lorentzian line spread functions. These values enable the calculation of experimental parameters which are necessary to get a required value of lateral resolution. Finally the successful application of the proposed approach to determine lateral resolution has been demonstrated by ToF-SIMS element mapping of the certified reference material BAM-L200. This report presents the results from that inter-laboratory comparison and includes the data received for the measured values and their associated standard deviations of laboratory means, at a 95% confidence level. The measurements were guided by a protocol developed within the group before and summarised shortly in the paper. Standard deviations that may characterise the state-of-the-art for the nominally simple and rather often practised case of TFAA chemical derivatisation XPS of C—OH species on a plasma oxidised polyolefin surface are calculated following ISO 5725-2:1994. The main conclusion is that the associated degree of equivalence reached by the participating laboratories in this comparison is still low. Further research to improve chemical derivatisation XPS protocols is mandatory. The advantage of TOF-SIMS, compared to optical microscopy, is its potential to analyze the chemical composition with a lateral resolution at a submicrometer scale. TOF-SIMS mappings allow distinguishing between ferritic and austenitic phases because of the phase selective detection method without any requirement of etching or other processing. Hierfür wurde die Leistungsfähigkeit der folgenden Messverfahren hinsichtlich ihrer Aussageschärfe, Anwendungsgrenzen und Messgeschwindigkeit bei praxisnahen Randbedingungen untersucht: - Impakt-Echo, manuelle Impaktauslösung - Impakt-Echo, automatisierte Impaktauslösung - Ultraschall-Echo mit multistatischem Array - Impuls-Thermografie - Radar Als Versuchskörper dienten sechs liegend hergestellte Betonplatten der Abmessungen 200/200/30 cm aus zwei verschiedenen Betongüten und mit unterschiedlichem Bewehrungsgehalt (Bewehrungsgrade 0 %, 0 ,9 %, 2 ,6 %), von denen vier Platten auf trockenem und zwei Platten auf ständig nass gehaltenem Sand gelagert waren. Alle sechs Platten enthielten jeweils dieselben künstlich eingebrachten Fehlstellen: vier quadratische Kiesnester in unterschiedlicher Tiefe mit Kantenlängen zwischen 10 und 15 cm sowie drei oberflächennahe Hohlstellen (Ø 4/6/8 cm). Zur Erfassung eines möglichen Einflusses des Betonalters wurden die Messungen 4 Tage, 28 Tage sowie 180 Tage nach Herstellung der Platten durchgeführt. Um aus den Untersuchungen einen breiten Nutzen für die Praxis zu erzielen, basierten die eingesetzten Messverfahren auf handelsüblichen Geräten, welche jedoch bezüglich ihres Messprinzips und insbesondere der Datenerfassung und -auswertung weiterentwickelt wurden. Die Fehlstellengröße wurde bewusst klein gewählt. Mit Ausnahme des manuellen Impakt-Echo-Verfahrens, mit welchem unter Verwendung der Originalsoftware des Herstellers keine Fehlstellen nachweisbar waren, zeigten sich alle Messverfahren geeignet, unter verschiedenen Randbedingungen Gefügestörungen zu lokalisieren. Insgesamt wurde jeder Fehlstellentyp von zumindest einem Verfahren bei mindestens zwei Versuchskörpern detektiert. Es konnten jedoch an keiner Betonplatte mit einem einzelnen Messverfahren alle vorhandenen Fehlstellen an allen Messterminen geortet werden. Am häufigsten wurden die beiden großen oberflächennahen Fehlstellen (Hohlstelle Ø 8 cm, Kiesnest 10 cm) erkannt. Am schwersten zu lokalisieren waren die kleine Hohlstelle mit 4 cm Durchmesser sowie die beiden auf der Unterseite gelegenen Kiesnester. Die Untersuchungen zeigen, dass für eine erfolgreiche Anwendung zerstörungsfreier Messverfahren in der Praxis die Auswahl des am besten geeigneten Verfahrens bzw. einer Kombination verschiedener Verfahren jeweils auf die vorliegende Problemstellung abgestimmt sein muss. Für Betonbodenplatten mit hohem Feuchtegehalt (junger Beton) oder starker Bewehrung ist entweder das Ultraschall- oder das Impakt-Echo-Verfahren geeignet. Das Ultraschall-Verfahren wird von hohen Bewehrungsgehalten zwar stärker beeinflusst als das Impakt-Echo-Verfahren, besitzt aber eine bessere Auflösung und ermöglicht auch im oberflächennahen Bereich eine quantitative Bestimmung der Fehlstellentiefe. Das Impakt-Echo-Verfahren kann wegen der niederfrequenten Impulsanregung Fehlstellen erst in größeren Tiefen und mit schlechterer Auflösung nachweisen, ist aber ideal geeignet zur Bestimmung der Plattendicke aufgrund seines signifikanten Rückwandechos. Sowohl das Radar-Verfahren als auch die Impuls-Thermografie können bei hohen Feuchte- und Bewehrungsgehalten nur sehr oberflächennah eingesetzt werden. Bei trockenem Beton und geringen bis mittleren Bewehrungsgehalten liefert das Radar-Verfahren sehr gute Ergebnisse. In kurzer Zeit ermöglicht es eine flächendeckende Ortung der Tiefenlage und Größe von Inhomogenitäten bei guter Auflösungsgenauigkeit. Vorhandene Bewehrung wird deutlich abgebildet, kann aber darunterliegende Fehlstellen verschatten. Alternativ kann die Impuls-Thermografie für die Ortung oberflächennaher Gefügestörungen eingesetzt werden. Das Verfahren eignet sich insbesondere bei Oberflächen, die nicht direkt zugänglich sind, da zwischen Infrarotkamera und Messobjekt nur Sichtkontakt bestehen muss. Die Betongüte hatte bei keinem eingesetzten Verfahren einen erkennbaren Einfluss auf die Messergebnisse. Streng genommen ist dies jedoch nur für den Einfluss des Wasserzementwertes, der Zementart und des Zementgehalts bei gleichbleibender Sieblinie und gleicher Kornart gültig. Bei Verwendung von Leichtzuschlag sind abweichende Ergebnisse denkbar.
