This paper presents the collective experience of the EuroHPC JU Center of Excellence in Exascale CFD (CEEC) in measuring, analyzing, and optimizing energy consumption across major European HPC systems. We briefly review key methodologies and tools for energy measurement as well as define metrics for reporting results. Through case studies using representative CFD applications (waLBerla, FLEXI/GALÆXI, Neko, and NekRS), we evaluate energy-to-solution and time-to-solution on diverse architectures, including CPU- and GPU-based partitions of LUMI, MareNostrum5, MeluXina, and JUWELS Booster. Our results highlight the advantages of accelerators and mixed-precision techniques for reducing energy consumption while maintaining computational accuracy. Finally, we advocate the need to facilitate energy measurements on HPC systems in order to raise awareness, teach the community, and take actions toward more sustainable exascale computing. Calcium cobaltite Ca3Co4O9 is a promising p-type oxide thermoelectric material for applications between 600 °C and 900 °C in air. The properties and morphology of Ca3Co4O9 are strongly anisotropic because of its crystal structure of alternating layers of CoO2 and Ca2CoO3. The electrical conductivity is for example 13.5 times higher in a/b-direction than in c-direction. By aligning the plate-like grains, the anisotropic properties can be assigned to the component. Hot-pressing of tablets is a well-known technology for grain alignment of Ca3Co4O9 and increases the thermoelectric properties in a/b-direction remarkably. It also increases the relative density. However, hot-pressing of tablets is limited by the tablet size. An interesting alternative for larger components is the pressure assisted sintering of panels from tape casted layers. Tape casting already leads to a grain alignment during green body forming. By combining tape casting and pressure assisted sintering (50 kN maximum force) of Ca3Co4O9, high densities and high thermoelectric properties can be reached for large components up to 200 mm edge length. Ca3Co4O9 was successfully tape casted with the doctor blade technique (binder: polyvinyl butyral, organic solvent). Several layers of tape were stacked and laminated to 5 cm x 5 cm panels. These panels were sintered with different applied pressures in a LTCC sintering press with combined in-situ shrinkage measurement. Pressure-less sintered panels have a 2.5 times higher electrical conductivity at room temperature than test bars with randomly orientated particles. By applying a uniaxial pressure of 10 MPa during sintering, the electrical conductivity increases by the factor of 6 compared to the pressure-less sintered panels. About 40 % linear shrinkage are reached in pressing direction. The Seebeck coefficient (S25 °C=146 μV/K) and the electrical conductivity (σ25 °C=15100 S/m) are in good agreement with the values published in literature for hot-pressed tablets. Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry/Nuclear Reaction Analysis, RBS/NRA), Röntgenphotoelektronenspektroskopie (engl. In this work, a new mononuclear N‐heterocyclic carbene (NHC) stabilized lithium complex, [Li(tBuNHC)(hmds)], is introduced as a promising precursor for ALD of lithium‐containing thin films. Structural characterization is performed, comparing density functional theory (DFT) and single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction (SC‐XRD), confirming a rare mononuclear structure. Favorable thermal properties for ALD applications are evidenced by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The compound exhibits a low melting point, clean evaporation, and its volatility parameters are encouraging compared to other lithium precursors. ALD trials using [Li(tBuNHC)(hmds)] with ozone demonstrate its effectiveness in depositing LiSixOy films. The ALD process exhibits a saturated growth per cycle (GPC) of 0.95 Å. Compositional analysis using Rutherford backscattering spectrometry/nuclear reaction analysis (RBS/NRA), X‐ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS), and glow discharge optical emission spectrometry (GD‐OES), confirms the presence of lithium and silicon in the expected ratios. Since no pressure or cooling needs to be applied during the transport, it is considered easier, safer and cheaper compared to pressurized gas tanks or cryogenic hydrogen on long routes and is already applied in large quantities and long distances. One simple system is methylcyclohexane and toluene. Toluene gets shipped to countries with an excess of (preferably green) energy and is charged with hydrogen to form methylcyclohexane. This is then shipped back to the place with energy and/or hydrogen demand and split into hydrogen and toluene. For toluene, some safety characteristics are available, whereas methylcyclohexane is loosely analyzed, hence safety characteristics are the basis for an appropriate approach to tackle the hazards and for the risk assessment. This paper focuses on the safety characteristics of both substances, compares the differences and points out the crucial hazards of this system, especially if the same tanks for transportation are used. Composite damage due to static, fatigue loading and ageing effect is a progressive process. The common failure modes of composite pressure vessels are majorly fibre break, then interface debonding, matrix cracking and delamination. The damages occur subsequently or even simultaneously, failure modes may interactive each other. These attributes make the composite fatigue more complex and difficult.
