Comparative investigations with synchrotron technique on CFRP and grey-scale analysis on glass fibre-reinforced-plastics (GFRP) confirm these results. Moreover it was found that the fracture mechanical properties of the matrix system influence damage nucleation and propagation in the laminate during static and fatigue loads. Single-step fatigue tests were carried out on Laminates with RIM135 and LY556 matrix systems made from non-crimped fabric (NCF) or twill weave in different fibre orientations. The damage to the LY556 laminates was characterized by laminate cracks growing rapidly over the whole specimen width, whereas the damage on the RIM135 laminates was characterized by an earlier onset of micro-cracking followed by laminate cracks. The specimens were fatigued up to 108 (very high cycle fatigue (VHCF) regime) load cycles. S-N-curves of damage initiation were drawn and boundaries were identified for endurance within the VHCF regime. A phenomenology based model focusing on matrix stress was applied to reproduce the first inter-fibre failure (IFF) under static and fatigue loads. To produce the Ni - based coatings the QS Nd:YAG laser cladding process was carried out. As the substrate used 13CrMo4-5 boilers plate steel. Ni - base alloys characterize the excellent high-temperature corrosion resistance, good strength and ability to work in aggressive environments. Formed clad were characterized by high quality of metallurgical bonding with the substrate material and sufficiently low amount of the iron close to the clad layer surface. After corrosion experiment the oxide scale on the substrate and clad created. The scale on 13CrMo4-5 steel had 70 μm thickness while the scale of the clad had less than 10 μm. Fragen zur Degradation der Sensoren unter Beanspruchung, Alterung durch klimatische Einflüsse und Enthaftung infolge Belastung der Struktur konnten bisher nur theoretisch simuliert oder anhand exemplarischer Proben für einzelne einflussnehmende Parameter im Labor untersucht werden. Die Erfassung des Sensorverhaltens im Bauteil unter komplexen Umwelteinflüssen während des Bauteilbetriebes, um damit eine Aussage zur Zuverlässigkeit der Sensormessdaten zu gewinnen, war bisher nicht möglich. Im Forschungsprojekt FAMOS² wurde deshalb von 2014 bis 2018 die Realisierung eines Autodiagnoseverfahrens für faseroptische Dehnungssensoren erarbeitet, um die Funktionszuverlässigkeit und Langzeitstabilität der Sensoren während des Bauteilbetriebes innerhalb einer Bauteilstruktur bewerten zu können. Im Rahmen des Forschungsprojektes wurde gezeigt, dass ein FBG-Sensor mit einer speziell angepassten magnetostriktiven Schicht magnetisch so angeregt werden kann, dass mit einer zugeschnittenen Messmethodik zu jedem Zeitpunkt eine Bewertung der Sensorzuverlässigkeit unter Betriebsbedingungen möglich ist. Die auf den Sensor aufgebrachte magnetostriktive Schicht erzeugt bei Anregung mit einem passenden Magnetfeld eine gepulste, synthetische Dehnung. Diese Dehnung steht in einem definierten Verhältnis zum anregenden Magnetfeld und wird optisch über die Verschiebung der Bragg-Wellenlänge ausgelesen. Die Konstanz dieses Verhältnisses stellt dann ein Maß für die korrekte Funktionsfähigkeit des Sensors dar. Das Beschichtungs-verfahren, das magnetische Anregungs- und optische Ausleseverfahren, wie auch die Validierung des Sensors unter Berücksichtigung faseroptischer Effekte wurden während des Projekts konzeptionell entwickelt, aufgebaut und charakterisiert. Qualitativ kann mit diesem Verfahren zunächst eine Gut-/Schlecht-Beurteilung des Sensors vorgenommen werden. Perspektivisch bietet das Verfahren jedoch auch die Möglichkeit, verschiedene Versagensmechanismen bestimmen und klassifizieren zu können. Es zeichnete sich schon während des Projektverlaufs ab, dass sich aus den erzielten Ergebnissen über das Autodiagnoseverfahren hinaus weitere Anwendungsmöglichkeiten für den Einsatz des kombinierten magnetostriktiv-faseroptischen Sensorprinzips, beispielsweise als reiner Magnetfeldsensor, ergeben. Nach Abschluss dieses Forschungsprojekts besteht nun die Möglichkeit, den Funktionszustand faseroptischer Dehnungssensoren jederzeit unabhängig von Alter, Belastung oder Kenntnis eines Referenzzustands zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt bestimmen zu können. The profound thermodynamic investigation of such eutectics requires a much greater amount of specimen material than conventional calorimeter can handle. Therefore, a special adiabatic calorimeter was developed and designed. With a specimen mass of > 100 g the typical thermodynamic measurements with a commercial calorimeter can be extended by cycle stability measurements, which are often decisive for practical application of PCM. Furthermore, by implementing corrosion specimens inside the calorimeter high temperature corrosion experiments according to ISO 21608 can be performed inside the calorimeter. Adiabatic measuring conditions can be provided by using two separate heating systems. High alloyed martensitic steel AISI 630 has been proven to be sufficient resistant in corrosive environments, e.g. regarding heat, pressure, salinity of the aquifer, CO2-partial pressure), but reveals a distinct corrosion pattern in CCS environment. Therefore coupons of AISI 630 heat treated using usual protocols were kept at T=60 °C and ambient pressure as well as p=100 bar up to 8000 h in an a) water saturated supercritical CO2 and b) CO2-saturated synthetic aquifer environment similar to on-shore CCS-sites in the Northern German Basin. AISI 630 precipitates a discontinuous ellipsoidal corrosion layer after being exposed for more than 4000 hours. Best corrosion resistance in the CO2-saturated synthetic aquifer environment phase is achieved via normalizing prior to exposure. In water saturated supercritical CO2 tempering at medium temperatures after hardening gives lowest corrosion rates. Corrosion fatigue via push-pull tests with a series of 30 specimens was evaluated at stress amplitudes between 150 MPa and 500 MPa (sinusoidal dynamic test loads, R=-1; resonant frequency ~ 30 Hz). The endurance limit of AISI 630 is reduced by more than 50% when exposed to CCS environment (maximum number of cycles (10 x 106) at a stress amplitude of 150 MPa). Die Wirksamkeit hängt jedoch von der Dauer, dem Restsauerstoffgehalt sowie der Temperatur und Feuchtigkeit ab. Unterschiedliche Arten von Schadinsekten sind verschieden tolerant gegenüber sauerstoffarmen Bedingungen. Insbesondere bei Behandlungsbedingungen von unter 24° C und mehr als 0,5 % Restsauerstoffgehalt stößt das Verfahren an die Grenze der Zuverlässigkeit. In Versuchsreihen unter standardisierten Bedingungen erwiesen sich insgesamt 12 von 34 im Projekt untersuchte Insektenarten hierbei als widerstandsfähig. Davon als besonders tolerante Arten sind Hylotrupes bajulus, Lasioderma serricorne, Trogoderma parabile und Mezium affine zu nennen. Mit dem entwickelten UWB-Sensoriksystem können durch elektromagnetische Wellen Bewegungen von Schädlingen innerhalb geschlossener Holzobjekte berührungslos erfasst werden. Voraussetzung für die eindeutige Detektion der Schädlingsaktivität ist neben der digitalen Signalverarbeitung zur Filterung und Extraktion des Nutzsignals, die genügend hohe Eindringtiefe, die ausreichend ist, wenn Schädlingsvorkommen häufig dicht unter der Holzoberfläche gelegen sind. Die Versuchsergebnisse haben gezeigt, dass bereits eine einzelne Trockenholztermite der Art Incisitermes marginipennis hinter einer 5 cm dicken Holzplatte aufgespürt werden kann. Somit erscheint das Messsystem potentiell für die Erfolgskontrolle einer Anoxia-Behandlung an Museumsgütern geeignet. Successes in surgery and orthopedics are highly dependent on the use of artificial parts for implanting into the human body. Over the years the number of surgical procedures and the number of different implants were growing rapidly. Implants, however, are exposed to complex mechanical, corrosive and tribological loads along with restriction in geometric dimension. While being essentially successful, the sheer number of cases leads to a rising number of implant failures. Such failures are painful for the affected patients and are very costly. The failure cases presented in this paper occurred from 1981 to 2016. The predominant failure mechanism of all kinds of implants is fatigue fracture. Fatigue cracks are initiated due to a whole bunch of reasons: Material defects and fabrication defects are rare events. The structure of polymer matrix and the interaction with reinforcement are crucial for optimization of the mechanical and thermal properties of FRPs. Due to the macromolecular chain structure, the mechanical properties of a polymer strongly vary with temperature: Below the glass transition, the chain segments of a polymer are “frozen”. Regarding fracture, the total changed energy during fracture if only dissipates for the generation of the new surfaces. However, in the region of the glass transition, the polymer chain segments start to get “unfrozen”, and the energy is not only required for generating new surfaces, but also for irreversibly deformation. This irreversible deformation is affected by the global temperature and the local temperature near the crack tip, which is affected by the local strain rate and crack propagation velocity. Hence, in this research project, the irreversible deformation of neat and reinforced polymers will be controlled by changing the global temperature as well as the local temperature. With using different fracture experiments, the amount of energy required for creating new surfaces and for the irreversible deformation will be separated. Im Ramen des Forschungsbelegs wurde bereits eine Anreicherungsmethode für ein Modellsystem einer Peptidbibliothek entwickelt. Das Modellsystem bestand dabei aus zwei verschiedenen Peptiden. Als Positivkontrolle wurde das FLAG-Peptid gewählt, welches selektiv gegen den Anti-FLAG-Antikörper bindet, und ein weiteres Peptid wurde als Negativkontrolle gewählt. Anhand dieses Modellsystems konnte die zuvor entwickelte Anreicherungsmethode von 20.000 auf 1.000.000 Beads vergrößert werden. However, only a few thermoresponsive polymers have been reported that present an UCST in a relevant temperature range and “green” solvents such as water or ethanol. In this context, acrylamide-based monomers can be very useful building blocks for designing novel non-ionic UCST-type polymers because of their hydrophilic nature (with the appropriate side chain) and propensity to form hydrogen bonds. This study Shows that even when the microscopic interaction is dictated by hydrogen bonding, unlike its counterparts that present a lower critical solution temperature (LCST), PAM shows a counterintuitive tunable upper critical solution temperature (UCST)-type phase transition in water/alcohol mixtures that was not reported before. The Phase transition temperature was found to be tunable between 4 and 60 1C by the type and concentration of alcohol in the mixture as well as by the solution concentration and molecular weight of the polymer. In addition, molecular dynamics simulations confirmed a UCST-like behaviour of the PAM in aqueous alcoholic solutions. Additionally, it was observed that the PAM is more swollen in pure alcohol solutions than in 80% alcoholic solutions due to y-like behaviour. Additionally, in the globular state, the size of the aggregates was found to increase with increasing solvent hydrophobicity and polymer concentration of the solutions. Above ist Phase transition temperature, PAM might be present as individual polymer chains in the coil state (r10 nm). As PAM is a widespread polymer in many biomedical applications (gel electrophoresis, etc.), this finding could be of high relevance for many more practical applications in high performance pharmaceuticals and/or sensors. The goal of this paper is the development of a temporal Integration scheme, which significantly increases the computational efficiency of the finite element method in comparison to conventional temporal integrations. The essential constituent of the fatigue model is an implicit gradient-enhanced formulation of the damage rate. The evolution of the field variables is computed as amultiscale Fourier series in time.On a microchronological scale attributed to single cycles, the initial boundary value problem is approximated by linear BVPs with respect to the Fourier coefficients. Using the adaptive cycle jump concept, the obtained damage rates are transferred to a coarsermacrochronological scale associated with the duration of material deterioration. The performance of the developedmethod is hence improved due to an efficient numerical treatment of the microchronological problem in combination with the cycle jump technique on the macrochronological scale. Validation examples demonstrate the convergence of the obtained solutions to the reference simulations while significantly reducing the computational costs. Market surveillance authorities’ checks are fundamental to protect the consumer from wrongly declared goods on the market and ensure fair competition between manufacturers. However, the activities of market surveillance authorities are limited by their financial resources. Testing all product efficiency parameters in an accredited laboratory is very time consuming and cost intensive. In this article, a theoretical concept is presented which can be used to develop screening tests enabling market surveillance authorities to perform product tests with less financial resources. The concept identifies components which lead to non-compliance or make a product less energy efficient with minimum effort. The principle is based on a combination of random product tests, disassembling specific products and comparing components. One particular advantageous design feature is known as lattice structures, which provide opportunities for innovative applications in the high-temperature regime of gas turbines. Generally, manufacturing of these structures is already known to be achievable with AM, however proof of structural integrity and geometrical accuracy is not yet reliably established. In this investigation, a systematic design-follows-complexity approach is utilized to pursue a holistic assessment of Ni based high temperature lattice. As the major element of lattice structures, single struts of different build orientations are investigated at first. This approach includes the application of Computed Tomography (CT), which allows for a non destructive assessment of quality criteria such as porosity and inner geometries as well as the parts’ metrology at a micrometre scale. The applied laboratory CT benefits from high magnification factors around 100 and voxel sizes down to a thousandth of the specimens’ diameter. Preliminary results show a correlation between the inclination angle and the struts’ quality, which indicate a dependency of geometrical accuracy and structural properties to the AM process setup. Consequently, lattice structures require the development of reliable manufacturing to produce dependable characteristics. While there is large potential for use of lattice structures in gas turbine and high temperature applications, the results indicate the strong need for an increased understanding of manufacturing and design as well as of the validation methods for these complex lattice structures. T1 - Einfluss der Wärmebehandlung auf Mikrostruktur und Korrosionsverhalten kohlenstoffhaltiger nichtrostender Stähle N2 - Das Korrosionsverhalten von kohlenstoffhaltigen martensitischen nichtrostenden Stählen variiert in Abhängigkeit der Wärmebehandlung (WB) und der damit eingestellten Mikrostruktur deutlich stärker als bei kohlenstoffarmen ferritischen und austenitischen nichtrostenden Stählen. Bei erhöhtem Kohlenstoffgehalt bestimmt die diffusionsgesteuerte Bildung und Auflösung von Chromkarbiden die Verteilung von Chrom und Kohlenstoff im Gefüge. Bisher lag der Fokus von Forschungsarbeiten zum Einfluss der WB auf dem Anlassen im allgemein bekannten Sensibilisierungsbereich dieser Werkstoffgruppe zwischen 200 °C und 700 °C und der dort auftretenden Chromverarmung. Mit der gezielten WB des X46Cr13 (1.4034) wird gezeigt, dass Temperatur und Dauer beim Austenitisieren sowie die anschließende Abkühlung beim Härten das Korrosionsverhalten schon vor dem Anlassen signifikant beeinflussen. Auf der Basis von thermodynamischen Berechnungen wurden definierte WB ausgewählt, um gezielt unterschiedliche Volumengehalte von Chromkarbiden im Gefüge und somit auch unterschiedliche Chrom bzw. Kohlenstoffgehalte im Mischkristall zu erzeugen. Anschließend wurden die resultierenden Gefügezustände hinsichtlich Chromkarbidanteil und Härte verglichen und das Korrosionsverhalten mit der elektrochemisch potentiodynamischen Reaktivierung (EPR) sowie durch einen Schnelltest mit der KorroPad-Prüfung untersucht. Dabei konnte ein direkter Zusammenhang zwischen WB, Mikrostrukturänderungen und Korrosionsverhalten festgestellt werden. Mit steigender Austenitisierungstemperatur wird der Anteil an Chromkarbiden reduziert und der Kohlenstoff- und Chromgehalt der Matrix erhöht, bis eine vollständige Auflösung der Chromkarbide gegeben und die chemische Nennzusammensetzung der Legierung im Mischkristall erreicht ist. In der direkten Folge wird die Ausbildung der für nichtrostende Stähle charakteristischen Passivschicht erleichtert und das Lochkorrosionsverhalten verbessert. Die Abkühlrate hat neben den Austenitisierungsparametern ebenfalls einen großen Einfluss auf das Korrosionsverhalten. So führt eine langsame Abkühlung an Luft zu einer Chromverarmung im Gefüge, die eine deutlich erhöhte Lochkorrosionsanfälligkeit zur Folge hat. The laser processing (i) was carried out by a Ti:sapphire laser (pulse duration 30 fs, central wavelength 790 nm, pulse repetition rate 1 kHz) in a regime of generating laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS). The experimental conditions (laser fluence, spatial spot overlap) were optimized in a sample-scanning setup for the processing of several square-millimeters large surface areas covered homogeneously by these nanostructures. The differently oxidized titanium surfaces were characterized by optical microscopy, micro Raman spectroscopy, variable angle spectroscopic ellipsometry, and instrumented indentation testing. The tribological performance was characterized in the regime of mixed friction by reciprocating sliding tests against a sphere of hardened steel in fully formulated engine oil as lubricant. The specific tribological performance of the differently treated surfaces is discussed with respect to possible physical and chemical mechanisms. Broadband Dielectric Spectroscopy (BDS) was used to study the dynamics of ultra-thin films of PVME/PS 50/50 wt% blend, employing a novel nano-structured capacitor sample arrangement. The investigated system shows a complex dynamic behavior. First, an α-relaxation, related to a bulk-like layer was found. Second, an α’-relaxation was observed, characteristic for dynamically asymmetric blends, where the out of equilibrium dynamics is attributed to weakly-cooperative PVME segments relaxing within a frozen environment of PS segments. Thirdly, for thinnest films, an Arrhenius-like process was dominant in the dielectric spectra, indicating localized fluctuations of the segments. Relaxation rates of this process resembled that of the degenerated α-relaxation of the adsorbed layer, found for pure PVME, thus it was assigned accordingly. For thinnest films, this process undergoes a further confinement, due to the topological constraints, introduced by PS. Such multiple confinement effect has not been reported for ultra-thin films of polymer blends, before this study. The interphase is expecting to have different segmental dynamic, as compared to the pure matrix, which can percolate into the entire system. Here, the segmental dynamics of epoxy/Boehmite nanocomposite was studied by Broadband Dielectric Spectroscopy. It was found that an artificial relaxation process is present in the nanocomposite, on the contrary to the pure epoxy system. It was assigned to constrained fluctuations of polymer chains in the interfacial region, due to the nanofiller. However, the overall dynamic Tg of the system decreased with increasing filler concentration, indicating higher segmental mobility. This was in accordance with Temperature Modulated DSC investigations of specific heat capacity of the system, which was found to increase with increasing filler concentration, up to 10 wt%, indicating increasing mobility of the polymer matrix segments. Surprisingly, for the highest filler content, the heat capacity decreases, implying a formation of an immobilized rigid amorphous phase in the interfacial region. SHS was carried out by differential AC-chip calorimetry at higher frequencies and temperature modulated DSC at lower frequencies. These ILCs can form a hexagonal ordered columnar mesophase. Two relaxation processes were found by BDS for both samples. At low temperatures, a γ-processes is observed which is assigned to specific localized fluctuations. At higher temperatures, α1-processes take place. α2 processes were also detected by SHS but with a completely different temperature dependence of the relaxation times. Different molecular assignments of α1- and α2-processes are suggested. At even higher temperatures, conductivity was detected by BDS. This is due to their ability to self-organize into columns in a hexagonal columnar mesophase, driven by the overlapping of the π orbitals of their aromatic cores. This leads to a high charge-carrier mobility along the column axis. Previous studies on DLCs showed that their properties, such as phase transition temperatures and enthalpies, are susceptible to nanoconfinement. In this study, 2,3,6,7,10,11 hexakis[hexyloxy] triphenylene (HAT6) was confined into parallel aligned cylindrical nanopores of anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membranes by melt infiltration. Furthermore, the pore surfaces of a series of membranes were chemically modified, resulting in a more hydrophobic pore surface than the unmodified ones. Hyperbranched polymers (HBPs) are macromolecules that are characterized by a highly branched structure and multiplicity of reactive end groups, which could be promising for numerous applications. Here, hyperbranched poly(amidoamine) (HPAMAM)/ Ka nanocomposites was prepared via an in-situ polymerization and an ex-situ method. The latter approach leads to a partly intercalated structure of the nanocomposites, while the former method results in an exfoliated morphology. Α combination of different techniques such as broadband dielectric spectroscopy (DBS), SXAS, FTIR, TEM, and DSC are employed to study the prepared samples. For the HPAMAM/ Ka-DCA nanocomposites (an ex-situ samples), the results indicated that the dc conductivity is increased by 4 orders of magnitude, with increasing concentration of the Ka-DCA. As an interesting result is that a significant decoupling between the characteristic time for conductivity relaxation and the segmental dynamics was observed, which depends on the concentration of the nanofiller. For the HPAMAM/ EDA nanocomposites (an in-situ polymerization), the dc conductivity is also increased with increasing the concentration of the Ka-EDA. The decoupling phenomenon and conductivity mechanism are discussed in detail. The kaolinite has been modified by dodecylamine (DCA). SAXS measurements revealed that the Ka interlayer space increased from 0.71 to 3.6 nm-1. A partly exfoliated structure of the HPA/Ka-DCA nanocomposites was proved by SAXS and TEM. By a combination of BDS and SHS, the relaxation properties of the nanocomposites were investigated in dependence on frequency and temperature. The activation energies of γ-relaxation for the nanocomposites were lower than the values found for the pure HPAE. The segmental dynamics (α- relaxation) was found to be screened out by the conductivity contribution. While it is retrieved by SHS employing AC-chip calorimetry. A systematic change of the dynamic glass transition estimated by AC-chip calorimetry was observed, which is in agreement with a behavior expected for a confined sample. The confinement effect of the Ka-DCA nanofillers reduces the glass transition temperature Tg and enhances, meanwhile, the electrical conductivity of the polymer. By comparing the temperature dependence of the dynamic glass transition measured with SHS and that of the dc conductivity measured by dielectric spectroscopy, a decoupling in their temperature dependencies was found. With increasing concentration of the nanofiller, which results in a stronger glass-formation behavior, this decoupling becomes weaker. Commonly, spatial structural heterogeneities of 1D confined thin films (surface, bulk-like and adsorbed layer), are expected to alter the glassy dynamics, compared to the bulk. Here, Specific Heat Spectroscopy (SHS) was used, to investigate the glassy dynamics of thin films of an asymmetric miscible PVME/PS 25/75 wt% blend. SHS measurements showed a non-monotonous thickness dependence of the dynamic Tg, on the contrary to the previously investigated PVME/PS 50/50 wt%. For PVME/PS 25/75 wt% thin films (> 30 nm), due to the presence of PVME-rich adsorbed and surface layers, the bulk-like layer experienced a thickness dependent increase of PS concentration. This led to a systematic increase of dynamic Tg. Further decrease of the film thickness (< 30 nm), resulted in a decrease of dynamic Tg, ascribed to the influence of the surface layer, which has a high molecular mobility. This is the first study, which shows deviations of dynamic Tg of thin films, compared to the bulk, resulting from the counterbalance of the free surface and adsorbed layer. However, only a few thermoresponsive polymers have been reported that present an UCST in a relevant temperature range and “green” solvents such as water or ethanol. In this context, acrylamide-based monomers can be very useful building blocks for designing novel non-ionic UCST-type polymers because of their hydrophilic nature (with the appropriate side chain) and propensity to form hydrogen bonds. Dabei ist eine qualitative Bestimmung der Versagensformen und Bruchbilder nach DIN EN ISO 10365 zwingend erforderlich, um eine Aussage über die Art des Versagens treffen zu können. Mit der Erweiterung der Zentrifugentechnologie um Beanspruchungen auf Druck wurde dann der Nachweis erbracht, dass auch die klassische Härteprüfung in einer Zentrifuge als Mehr-Proben-Prüfung durchgeführt werden kann. Im Verbundvorhaben QUO VADIS PLUS werden derzeit invasive Beanspruchungen auf Druck zur Bestimmung der Härte von Materialien, der Kompressibilität von Metallschäumen sowie der Kompaktierbarkeit von Pulvern untersucht, was das Anwendungspotential der Zentrifugentechnologie nochmals erweitert. Dazu gehören auch kombinierte Beanspruchungen wie Zug-Scher- und Druck-Scher-Prüfungen. As optical functions may represent any of these changes on the micro- and nano-scale, imaging ellipsometry (IE) is the technique of choice using either intensity, phase, or/and amplitude contrast for visualization of low-contrast surface modifications [1, 2]. Defects or surface and film features whether native or artificial, intended or unintended, avoidable or unavoidable as well as surface pattern are of interest for quality control. In contrast to microscopic techniques operated at normal incidence, ellipsometry as oblique-incidence technique provides improved contrast for vertically nano-scaled add-on or sub-off features such as ultra-thin transparent films, metallic island films, carbon-based thin films, laser modification or laser induced damage, dried stain, cleaning agent or polymeric residue. Two-sample reference techniques, i.e. referenced spectroscopic ellipsometry (RSE) may further increase sensitivity and decrease measurement time. In case of particulate accumulations depolarization contrast imaging (DCI) may improve the lateral resolution beyond the Abbe limit. This has been proven for silica spheres as reference in terms of single particles, particulate accumulations or particulate monolayers and layer stacks. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were used for reference measurements of particle diameter, particle height, or particulate layer/accumulation thickness. It has been shown that single silica particles of 250 nm in diameter, i.e. at least a factor of 4 better than the lateral resolution limit as of now, can be visualized on even substrates. The method of direct thermal desorption was used to simulate the high temperatures during the 3D printing process and to identify the main compounds emitted from the filaments. A large number of unexpected compounds were detected that might affect the user’s health and have an impact on indoor air chemistry. Introduction: The use of desktop 3D printers is increasing. Compared to other devices with known emissions, e.g. laser printers, there is still a lack of information on possible emissions of VOC and ultrafine particles during operation and the effect on indoor air quality. Most of the commercially available desktop 3D printers operate with a molten polymer deposition. For this process a solid thermoplastic filament is heated in an extrusion nozzle. Most filaments for desktop 3D printers use either acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) or polylactic acid (PLA) as filament. Alternatives are polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) or polycarbonate (PC). Method: Eight different thermoplastic filaments for 3D printers were analysed by direct thermal desorption followed by GC-MS identification of the emitted substances. Direct thermal desorption was done by desorbing 5 mg of the feedstock for 1 minute at a temperature of 210°C. This is an average temperature for 3D printing with thermoplastic filaments. Results and conclusions: The comparison of the 4 different filament groups showed the highest overall emissions from ABS, followed by PLA, PC and PVA. Filament ABS 2 emitted mainly SVOCs and triphenyl phosphate, the latter has the highest emission for a single compound from all evaluated filaments. Thermoplastic filaments are a new source of VOC emissions due to the high temperatures associated with 3D printing, which can reach up to 270°C. Some of the detected compounds like lactic acid, lactide and bisphenol A have never been described before in the indoor environment. Additionally some of the main substances could not be identified and some others might have the potential to affect the indoor air chemistry. The appearance of some newly detected compounds raises concerns about potential health effects for the users of 3D printers at home. Die Korrosionsbeständigkeit von Schweißverbindungen aus 1.4062 wird, neben dem Grundwerkstoff, dem Schweißzusatzwerkstoff und dem Schweißverfahren, auch sehr stark von der Oberflächennachbehandlung der Schweißnaht beeinflusst. Je nach zukünftigem Anwendungsbereich und geforderter Korrosionsbeständigkeit wird die Schweißnaht geschliffen, gebeizt, elektropoliert oder gestrahlt, um die beim Schweißen entstandenen Anlauffarben zu entfernen. Gestrahlte Oberfläche sind in der industriellen Praxis häufig anzutreffen, da sie deutlich einfacher und kostengünstiger herzustellen sind als gebeizte oder elektropolierte Oberflächen. Die Auswahl des Strahlmittels bestimmt auch die Prozesskosten, wobei das Strahlen mit Korund effektiver als das Strahlen mit Glasperlen ist. In den letzten Jahren wurden korrosionsanfällige Oberflächen bei nichtrostenden Stählen beobachtet, wenn diese mit Korund geschliffen wurden. Daher wird nun auch beim Strahlen kritisch hinterfragt, ob Korund als Strahlmittel die Korrosionsbeständigkeit verändert. Diese Fragestellung wird im Vortrag beantwortet indem geschliffene, gebeizte, mit Korund gestrahlte und mit Glasperlen gestrahlte Schweißverbindungen vergleichend untersucht werden. Die Ergebnisse der Untersuchungen von den Strahlmitteln und den gestrahlten Oberflächen werden mit den Ergebnissen der Salzsprühnebelprüfung, den kritischen Lochkorrosionspotentialen und der KorroPad-Prüfung korreliert. A1 - Rosemann, Paul T1 - Age-hardening behaviour, microstructure and corrosion resistance of the copper alloyed stainless steel 1.4542 N2 - The copper alloyed stainless steel 1.4542 (X5CrNiCuNb16-4) is used in different areas due to its good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Strength and corrosion resistance can be adjusted by the heat treatment, which is of importance for the application of this alloy. The mechanical properties (strength and hardness) are attributed to the dispersive precipitation of the copper rich ε–Phase. The additional precipitation of chromi-um carbides can reduce the corrosion resistance. Different ageing states were produced to investigate the precipitation behaviour with various methods. Furthermore, the influence of cold-rolling on the precipitation behaviour was studied in comparison to a solution annealed state without deformation. The microstructure was studied by SEM and the variations of hardness and magnetic proportion were characterised. The electrochemical potentiodynamic reactivation (EPR) was used to determine the corrosion resistance and detect chromium depletion in all heat-treated states. The results show that a work hard-ening accelerates the precipitation rate, while ageing at 600 °C reduces the corrosion resistance due to chromium depletion. T2 - 20. Using X-ray absorption tomography we have determined the 3D shape of an unreacted Nb3Sn 11 T dipole Rutherford cable, and of a reacted and impregnated Nb3Sn cable double stack. State-of-theart image processing was applied to correct for tomographic artefacts caused by the large cable aspect ratio, for the segmentation of the individual wires and subelement bundles inside the wires, and for the calculation of the wire cross sectional area and shape variations. The 11 T dipole cable cross section oscillates by 2% with a frequency of 1.24 mm (1/80 of the transposition pitch length of the 40 wire cable). A comparatively stronger cross sectional area variation is observed in the individual wires at the thin edge of the keystoned cable where the wire aspect ratio is largest. Das KorroPad ist damit für Hersteller, Verarbeiter, Anwender und Forscher eine interessante Alternative zu zeitintensiven Auslagerungsversuchen und elektrochemischen Untersuchungsmethoden, die normalerweise bei der Charakterisierung nichtrostender Stähle zur Anwendung kommen. Mit der KorroPad-Prüfung können auch werkstoff- und gefügebedingte Einflussfaktoren sichtbar gemacht werden, die Lochkorrosionsanfälligkeit verursachen. Um dies zu veranschaulichen, wird die Nachweisgrenze des KorroPads an Referenzlegierungen mit abgestuftem Chromgehalt aufgezeigt.
