However, the residual stresses (RS) developed during the processing can reduce the load bearing capacity as well as induce unwanted distortion, limiting the application of SLM parts. In the present work, residual stresses in additivly manufactured IN718 part were analised by means of neutron diffraction and synchrotron X-ray diffraction.
