TY - CONF A1 - Pfender, Max T1 - Einführung in das Leitthema: Prüfprobleme bei Verbundwerkstoffen N2 - Die Prüfprobleme bei Verbundwerkstoffen sind im wesentlichen bestimmt durch die Zweckbestimmung des betreffenden Gegenstandes, die materielle und organisatorische Basis für die Verwirklichung des Vorhabens, die untersuchende und vergleichende Auswahl geeigneter Stoffe und Verarbeitungsverfahren und durch die bestätigende und deshalb meist komplexe Prüfung seiner Funktion mit vorgegebenem Leitwert und darauf bezogenen Variablen bei oft nicht als Konstanten beherrschbaren Parametern. Die erfolgreiche Lösung einer solchen Aufgabe setzt voraus die ausreichende Kenntnis physikalischer, chemischer, mechanischer und technologischer Eigenschaften von verfügbaren und preiswürdigen Stoffen und Stoffzuständen, deren Beeinflußbarkeit und deren Auswirkungen auf den angestrebten Zweck einschließlich erwünschter belangloser oder auch unerwünschter aber erträglicher oder zusätzlich zu kompensierender Nebenwirkungen. Dafür wiederum braucht man ausreichende qualitative und quantitative Vorstellungen über die mit der angestrebten Funktion zusammenhängenden physikalischen Vorgänge, mechanischen Anstrengungen und chemischen Einwirkungen in dem so bedingten Verbundsystem von Werkstoffen entsprechender Eigenschaften. Aufgaben dieser Art sind z. B. Konstruktionen für die Wandlung, Verteilung, Nutzung oder Abwehr von Energie für die Herstellung, die Verarbeitung und den Transport von Stoffen, für die Darstellung von Wohnung, Kleidung und Nahrung sowie jener materiellen und organisatorischen Voraussetzungen, die dem Menschen als Gesellschaftswesen und über den physischen Bereich hinaus dienen. Hinweisende Beispiele zeigen, daß die Problematik der Prüfung von Verbundwerkstoffen am zuverlässigsten erfaßt und beherrscht werden kann, wenn die Kenntnis der Eigenschaften von Stoffen und Materialien dem konstruktiv zu behandelnden Funktionszweck entspricht, dadurch eine souveräne Auswahl im Sinne einer weiter reichenden Kombination einzelner hervorragender Eigenschaften möglich ist und das Geplante als geschaffene Wirklichkeit durch den prüfenden Versuch und die beobachtete Bewährung bestätigt wird. Es ist notwendig, Schädigungen möglichst frühzeitig zu detektieren und hinsichtlich ihrer Schädigungstiefe zu bewerten, um sie durch gezielte Schienenbearbeitung (Schleifen, Hobeln, Fräsen) rechtzeitig zu beseitigen. Mit der bisher in Schienenprüfzügen eingesetzten Ultraschalltechnik lassen sich die Oberflächenfehler nur schwer detektieren. Eine Bewertung der Schädigungstiefe ist nicht möglich. Die Wirbelstromtechnik stellt als oberflächennahes Verfahren der zerstörungsfreien Prüfung eine ideale Ergänzung zur volumenhaften Ultraschallprüfung dar. Es wurde ein Wirbelstromprüfsystem entwickelt, das eine Detektion und Tiefenbewertung von Oberflächenfehlern bei einer Prüfgeschwindigkeit von bis zu 100 km/h und einem Messpunktabstand von 1 mm ermöglicht. Das Wirbelstromsystem kann in das vorhandene Ultraschallsystem integriert werden. Dieses beginnt mit der Übernahme der Dateinamen zur Speicherung der Messdaten, dem synchronen Start und Stopp der Messung, Ortssynchronisation über gemeinsamen Wegtakt und externe Kilometrierung bis hin zur gemeinsamen Darstellung der Prüfergebnisse. Die unterschiedlichen Ultraschallsysteme der verschiedenen Prüfzüge erfordern eine flexible Konfigurierbarkeit der Schnittstelle (Digital-IO, LAN). Wegen des enormen Umfanges der Urdaten ist es erforderlich, die Auswertung der Wirbelstromdaten so weit wie möglich zu automatisieren. Als Ergebnis der automatisierten Auswertung erhält der Prüfer Angaben über Lage, Art und Häufigkeit von Fehlern sowie die maximale Schädigungstiefe. Nebenbei ist das Wirbelstromsystem auch in der Lage, Schweißnähte in den Schienen zu detektieren. Da die Schweißnähte auch optisch zu erkennen sind, stellen sie ein wichtiges Merkmal zum Auffinden von Fehlstellen dar. Trivially but importantly, deflection of X-rays is also sensitive to the orientation of the object boundaries. These features make X-ray refraction techniques extremely suitable to a) detect defects such as pores and microcracks, and quantify their densities in bulk (light) materials, and b) evaluate porosity and particle properties such as orientation, size, and spatial distribution (by mapping). While X-ray refraction techniques cannot in general image single defects, their detectability is simply limited by the wavelength of the radiation. We will thereby show the application of X-ray refraction 2D mapping (topography) and tomography to different sorts of problems in ceramic science and technology: 1) Sintering of SiC green bodies; 2) Porosity analysis in diesel particulate filter silicates; 3) fiber de-bonding in metal and polymer matrix composites; 4) micro-cracking of glass-precursor -eucryptite. In der Praxis zeigt sich aber häufig, daß der zeitliche Aufwand für eine Radarmessung stark variieren kann. Gründe dafür sind zum einen die Komplexität der Bewehrung im Betonbauteil, zum anderen aber auch die Unsicherheit des Anwenders bei der Durchführung der Radarmessung. Die Frage, ob die Bewehrung schon mit der Messung entlang einer einzelnen Messlinie gefunden werden kann, oder ob eine flächige Messung notwendig ist, kann häufig nicht schnell und einfach beantwortet werden. Bei flächigen Radarmessungen ist ein wesentlicher Punkt dabei die Frage, wie dicht das Messraster sein soll. In der Praxis stellt sich häufig im Nachhinein heraus, daß ein weniger dichtes Raster mit einem Messlinienabstand von 10 cm oder 20 cm statt eines dichteren Rasters von z. B. 5 cm Messlinienabstand keine merkliche Verschlechterung des Ergebnisses beim Orten der Bewehrung liefert. Der zeitliche Aufwand für eine Radarmessung kann sich deshalb bei einer aufgabenbezogenen Wahl des Messrasters im Vergleich zur ursprünglichen Messung um deutlich mehr als die Hälfte verringern. Seltener tritt in der Praxis der Fall auf, daß ein Messraster zu groß gewählt wurde. Anhand von Praxisbeispielen werden die Unterschiede von Radarergebnissen bei einer Variation von Messrastern gezeigt. Die Wahl eines aufgabenbezogenen Messrasters wird ebenso wie die Wahl einer geschickten Antennenpolarisation bei der Ortung vorgespannter Bewehrung betrachtet und der Einfluss der Antennenpolarisation auf den Aufwand der Radarmessung diskutiert. Abschließend wird ein kurzer Ausblick gegeben, was für ein Potential dichte Messraster trotzdem in der Forschung haben können. This showed that modern NMR equipment is also suitable for the observation of hydrocarbon samples in the expanded fluid phase or gas phase. Since Quantitative NMR spectroscopy (qNMR) is a direct ratio method of analysis without the need of calibration it was used to determine impurities in appropriate liquid and liquefied hydrocarbon isomers up to C6, which are used for preparation of primary gas standards, e.g., natural gas or exhaust gas standards. At the same time it is possible to yield structural information with a minimum of sample preparation. Thus, cross contaminations between different isomers of the observed hydrocarbons and their (NMR-active) impurities can be identified and quantified. In general, most quantitative organic chemical measurements rely on the availability of highly purified compounds to act as calibration standards. The traceability and providence of these standards is an essential component of any measurement uncertainty budget and provides the final link of the result to the units of measurement, ideally the SI. The more recent increase in the use of qNMR for the direct assessment of chemical purity however can potentially improve the traceability and reduce the uncertainty of the measured chemical purity at a reduced cost and with less material. For example the method has beneficially been used by National Measurement institutes for recent CCQM comparisons including the CCQM–K55 series of purity studies. Traditional ‘indirect’ methods of purity analysis require that all impurities are identified and quantified, leading to a minimum of 4 individual analytical methods (organic impurities, water, solvents, inorganic residue). These multiple technique approaches measure an array of different chemical impurities normally present in purified organic chemical compounds. As many analytical methodologies have compound-specific response factors, the accuracy and traceability of the purity assessment is dependent on the availability of reference materials of the impurities being available. qNMR provides the most universally applicable form of direct purity determination without need for reference materials of impurities or the calculation of response factors but only exhibiting suitable NMR properties. The development of CRMs addressing qNMR specific measurement issues will give analysts compounds ideally suited for the analytical method and also provide full characterisation of qNMR related parameters to enable more realistic uncertainty budgets. These materials will give users the tools to exploit qNMR more easily and enable them to speed up analytical method development and reduce the time and financial burden of multiple analytical testing. T1 - Online measurements in a bypass: challenges and possibilities N2 - The design of sample flow cells, commonly used in online analytics and especially for medium resolution NMR spectroscopy (MR-NMR) in low magnetic fields, was experimentally and theoretically investigated by 1H-NMR and numerical simulations. The flow pattern was characterised to gain information about the residence time distribution and mixing effects. Both 1H-NMR imaging and spectroscopy were used to determine the characteristics of flow cells and their significance for on-line measurements such as reaction monitoring or hyphenated separation spectroscopy. The volume flow rates investigated were in the range from 0.1 to 10 ml/min, typically applied in the above mentioned applications. When compared to those commonly used in high-field NMR, the special characteristics of flow cells for MR-NMR were revealed by various NMR experiments and compared with CFD simulations. The influence of the design of the inlet and outlet on the flow pattern was investigated as well as the effect of the length of the cell. For practical use, a numerical estimation of the inflow length was given. In addition, it was shown how experiments on the polarisation build-up revealed insight into the flow characteristics in MR-NMR. It is particularly appropriate for composite materials being used in automotive and aviation industry. Air-coupled ultrasound transducers mostly consist of piezoelectric materials and matching layers. However, their fabrication is challenging and their signal-to-noise ratio often not sufficient for many testing requirements. To enhance the efficiency, air-coupled ultrasound transducers made of cellular polypropylene have been developed. Because of its small density and sound velocity, this piezoelectric ferroelectret matches the small acoustic impedance of air much better than matching layers applied in conventional transducers. In our contribution, we present two different methods of spherical focusing of ferroelectret transducers for the further enhancement of their performance in NDT applications. Honeycombs (aggregate clusters without cement) represent potential weakening of the structure and need to be detected non-destructively. In our study we tested the capability of ground penetrating radar (GPR) techniques for this purpose. We applied GPR in reflection mode and zero-offset profiling (ZOP) transmission mode on a precast concrete twin wall with built-in honeycombs. GPR measurements were performed as two channel measurement with ground coupled antennas with centre frequencies of 1.5 GHz and 2.6 GHz mounted to an automated scanner system. Our findings show that ZOP transmission measurements are a more efficient method to detect voids in reinforced concrete structures compared to reflection mode measurements. This holds for both the effort needed for the measurement and the evaluation as well as the validity of the data. Honeycombs (basically representing voids) are usually characterized by strongly reduced amplitudes and earlier arrivals of the transmitted wave. In einer Vergleichsstudie zur Haftfestigkeit von optischen und ophthalmischen Schichten wurde mit Hilfe der Zentrifugentechnologie der Einfluss verschiedener Parameter (Substratdicke, Oberflächenvorbehand-lung, Haftvermittler) auf die Haftfestigkeit optischer Schichten auf silikatischen und ophthalmischer Schichten auf polymeren Substraten untersucht. Zur Bestimmung der Haftfestigkeit in der physikalisch korrekten Dimension Kraft pro Fläche im Stirnabzug stehen die Ein-Proben-Prüfung mit der Zugprüfmaschine und die Mehr-Proben-Prüfung mittels Zentri- fugentechnologie zur Verfügung. Die Zentrifugentechnologie wurde ausgewählt, da die Prüfung von bis zu acht Proben unter nahezu identischen Versuchsbedingungen und somit eine statistisch gesicherte Bestimmung der Haftfestigkeit möglich sind. Es konnte nachgewiesen werden, dass die Substratdicke einen erheblichen Einfluss auf die gemessene Haftfestigkeit hat. Dies entspricht den Erwartungen, da es sich bei der Haftfestigkeit um eine System- eigenschaft des Schicht-Substrat-Systems handelt. Bei den Delaminationsbrüchen (DF) konnte zwischen Delamination des metallischen Reflektors (DF-R) und Delamination des Dielektrikums (DF-D) unter- schieden werden. Im Fall hinreichender Haftfestigkeit der Beschichtung traten auch Adhäsionsbrüche am Interface zum und Kohäsionsbrüche im Klebstoff auf. Nachfolgende Untersuchungen werden sich mit alternativen Klebstoffen und weiterentwickelten Fügestrategien befassen. N2 - The quantitative determination of adhesive strength of coatings is essential for both R&D and quality assurance. In a comparative study on adhesive strength of optical and ophthalmic coatings, centrifuge technology has been used for the investigation of the influence of certain parameters (e.g. substrate thickness, surface-pretreatment and adhesion promoters) on adhesive strength of optical coatings on silicate and ophthalmic coatings on polymer substrates. For determination of adhesive strength in the correct dimension force per area in the pull-off test, only two tests are available, the single-sample test in a tensile testing machine and the multi-sample test by means of centrifuge technology. The centrifuge technology has been chosen because up to eight samples can be tested under almost identical testing conditions at the same time. Hence, a statistical evaluation of adhesive strength is feasible. It has been shown that substrate thickness has a remarkable influence on the measured adhesive strength. This fulfils the expectations as adhesive strength is a system property of the coating-substrate system. Regarding delamination failure (DF) it could be differentiated between the delamination of reflective coatings (DF-R) and delamination of dielectric coatings (DF-D). In case of sufficient adhesive strength of the coating, adhesion failure at the interface of and cohesion failure within the adhesive were also observed. Traceable worldwide in foods and animal feeds, these contaminants cause manifold diseases and extensive economic losses. Therefore, European legislation set maximum levels of distinct mycotoxins to minimize the risks for the buying public. But standardized food analysis techniques fail to detect masked mycotoxins, whose research increasingly moves to the fore in recent years. They are formed from detoxification metabolism of plants as well as from fungi, which conjugate for example with glucosides or dihexosides. All masked mycotoxins have one thing in common: They are not detectable with standard methods, thereby contributing to the overall exposure and pose an additional health risk for the consumer. The dissertation work will focus on the following potential new group of masked toxins. Food safety relevant mycotoxins like zearalenone and ochratoxin A possess one or more 1,3-dicarbonyl moieties. Latter are principally able to form thermodynamically stable chelate complexes with metal cations. First investigations at BAM showed interactions between zearalenone and copper ions and it is conceivable that they possibly build a complex. Our main focus is now to identify, characterize and quantify 1,3-dicarbonyl mycotoxin metal complexes as potential candidates within the group of conjugated mycotoxins. We will simulate processes of biotransformation and identify distinct metabolites by electrochemistry coupled to liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (EC-HPLC-MS). These properties provide this material of multisectorial applications, ranging from healthcare, photocatalysis, smart materials with self cleaning and self sterilizing properties and solar energy harvesting (photovoltaics and water photosplitting). However it is difficult to correlate the functional properties of TiO₂ nanomaterials to the properties at single nanoparticle level due to the high polydispersity in shape, size and surface properties of the currently available TiO₂ nanoparticles (NPs) Although intensive experimental and theoretical studies have been conducted on the reactivity of different surfaces of metal oxides such as TiO₂ [1,2] much less attention is paid on the dependence of functional properties, like photocatalytic activity, dye adsorption, open circuit potential and fill factor in dye sensitized solar cells, on crystal facets in different orientations [3]. One of the goal of SETNanoMetro is the development of design rules to tune crystal facets of TiO₂ NPs in order to optimize and control functional properties. By tuning the ratio of different facets, the functional properties would be correspondingly changed. In the present work we have developed a series of design rules in order to obtain sets of anatase TiO₂ NPs with low polydispersity and to tune their shape and their size though hydrothermal processing of Ti(IV)-Triethanolamine complex in presence of different shape controllers (OH-, triethanolamine, fluoride). Through a careful experimental design the influence of many process parameters (pH, temperature, shape controller type and concentration) on the synthesis outcome (size, shape and polydispersity), a predictive soft model was developed. The model is able to predict reasonably well the synthesis outcome allowing to tune the shape factor from 5 (prisms) to 1.5 (bipyramids) to 0.2 (platelets). This allows to control the main crystal facets exposed ranging from (100) to (001). Die Firma Prüftechnik Linke & Rühe GmbH aus Magdeburg fertigt und vertreibt seit geraumer Zeit verschiedene manuelle und zuggestützte Prüfsysteme, die auf dieser Entwicklung basieren. Seit Januar 2013 wird in Deutschland der Qualitätsnachweis nach der Schienenbearbeitung mittels Wirbelstromprüfung gefordert. Im Laufe der Entwicklungsarbeiten wurden verschiedentlich benachbarte Themenfelder rund um die Prüfung auf Head Checks gestreift. Der Schwerpunkt dieses Vortrages liegt auf diesen erweiterten Möglichkeiten der magnetinduktiven Prüfung von verlegten Schienen. Hierbei wird sowohl auf die Verbesserung der Möglichkeiten des bestehenden Systems (z. B. durch Kopplung mit anderen Prüfverfahren) als auch auf mögliche Neuentwicklungen (z. B. durch Einsatz neuer Sensorik) eingegangen. Angestrebte Ziele sind z. It is based on applying thermal energy to a samples’ surface whereas inner defects alter the non-stationary heat flow. Conventional excitation of a sample is hereby done spatially, either planar (e.g. using a lamp) or local (e.g. using a focused laser) and temporally, either pulsed or periodical. In this work we combine a high power laser with a Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) allowing us to merge all degrees of freedom to a spatially and temporally controlled heat source. This enables us to exploit the possibilities of coherent thermal wave shaping. Exciting periodically while controlling at the same time phase and amplitude of the illumination source induces – via absorption at the sample’s surface - a defined thermal wave propagation through a sample. That means thermal waves can be controlled almost like acoustical or optical waves. However, in contrast to optical or acoustical waves, thermal waves are highly damped due to the diffusive character of the thermal heat flow and therefore limited in penetration depth in relation to the achievable resolution. Nevertheless, the coherence length of thermal waves can be chosen in the mm-range for modulation frequencies below 10 Hz which is perfectly met by DMD technology. This approach gives us the opportunity to transfer known technologies from wave shaping techniques to thermography methods. Das Verfahren eignet sich dazu, den Grad der Passivität in Abhängigkeit der Umgebungsbedingungen und der Zeit nachzuvollziehen. Dies ermöglicht dem Anwender und Verarbeiter von nichtrostenden Stählen, die Lagerungsbedingungen und –zeiten einer frisch bearbeiteten Stahloberfläche zu ermitteln, welche für die Ausbildung einer stabilen Passivschicht notwendig sind, bevor diese risikoarm eingesetzt werden kann. Wie die hier dargestellten Beispiele und auch weitere zahlreiche praktische Anwendungen gezeigt haben, eignet sich das KorroPad ebenfalls für die Identifikation kritischer Prozessparameter bei der Verarbeitung nichtrostender Stähle. Mit dem Verfahren lassen sich viele prozessbedingte Einflussfaktoren auf die Oberflächengüte wie auch auf den Werkstoff charakterisieren. Aufgrund der schnellen und einfachen Auswertung der Prüfergebnisse können positive wie auch negative Veränderungen hinsichtlich der Passivschichtstabilität zügig erkannt werden. Dies ermöglicht es dem Anwender schnell zu reagieren, um kritische Einflüsse zu korrigieren und um eine Optimierung von Inhouse-Prozessen durchzuführen. It is well accepted and subject of standardization in many countries. However, some issues with the method remain. As the grout columns are produced in the subsurface without visual control in an often inhomogeneous soil, the prediction of the column’s diameter is still a challenge. All methods applied so far have their limitations. The approach presented in this study is twofold. At Colorado School of Mines a resistivity probe has been developed, which is pushed into the fresh grout directly after production. ERT sections are measured and inverted. Given some background information is available, the diameter of the columns can be evaluated. At BAM the focus has been on post-production investigations using seismic borehole methods. After hardening of the concrete seismic waves are sent through the column downhole (sensors placed in a casing in the column’s axis, source on top) and crosshole (source and sensor in boreholes on opposite sides of the column). We have developed a scheme to evaluate the diameter of the column based on travel time measurements without calibration. As this method is eventually more time and cost intensive we assume its application mainly for test columns. These are casted and dug out for visual inspection to determine appropriate grouting parameters. Our method would replace the often very cost intensive visual inspection. Both approaches have been tested at three test columns produced at BAM’s test site at Horstwalde, Germany and on an actual constructions site. Both methods have been in good agreement with the diameters predicted by the jet grouting contractors, which were confirmed in one case by mechanical measurements. T1 - Systematic approach for online spectroscopy in technical systems - Experimental design for Raman Spectroscopy in micro emulsions N2 - Hydroformylation represents an important homogeneous catalyzed process, which is widely used within chemical industry. Usually applied for short-chained alkenes like Propene and Butene aldehydes obtained from alkenes >C6 are relevant intermediates in production of plasticizers, surfactants and polymers. Today the active catalyst species is often based on valuable Rhodium complexes in aqueous solution. This implies the problem of limited water solubility of the reactants, which is acceptable for short chain lengths, but states a problem in case of higher alkenes. Along with that efficient separation and recycling of the catalyst becomes more complicated. There are different approaches tackling this problem, e.g., by using of salt formation in the BASF process or downstream distillation within the Shell process. Another promising approach is the processing within a microemulsion by using a suitable surfactant system. This maintains a large interface between catalyst and reactants, as well as the possibility of catalyst recycling via downstream phase separation in a settler. Optimized processing within the three-phase region in accordance with Kahlweit fish leads to an efficient product separation, while the valuable catalyst and surfactant can be recycled into the process. In this work we present reaction monitoring of Rh-catalyzed hydroformylation of 1 dodecene. Experiments were conducted on a specialized laboratory setup, which allows coupling of different online spectroscopic methods (Raman, HR-NMR, LF-NMR, UV/VIS) under process-similar conditions. The focus of this contribution lies on results of high-resolution Online-NMR obtained during calibration experiments for development of a multivariate model for Raman spectroscopy, which will be part of another contribution. Type and amount of the organic additives (dispersants, binders and plasticizers) define viscosity and stability of the slurry, the granulate structure and the compaction behaviour. Alumina and Zirconia powders were characterized with regard to particle size, shape and specific surface area (BET). Zeta-potential measurements by Stabino® were used to investigate the effect of different dispersants on slurry stability. Unfortunately, this method is restricted to suspensions with less than about 30% by weight of solid content. The multi-sample analytical centrifuge LUMiSizer® overcomes this problem. This device enables analysis of the separation behaviour of suspensions over a wide range of solid content. On the basis of position and time resolved photometric detection of transmitted light, it is possible to determine the instability index, the sedimentation velocity, and the sediment height in dependence of type and amount of organic additives at various centrifugal accelerations. Additional information is obtained from the shape of the transmission profiles. Based on LUMiSizer® measurements, suitable additive concentrations were derived. Thereby, the number of investigations by viscometry and spray drying experiments can be significantly reduced. Finally, it was possible to produce alumina, zirconia and ZTA aqueous slurries with up to 80 weight-% of solid. The optimized suspensions were successfully spray dried and the resulted granules show good compaction behaviour. T1 - Influence of the of dealumination and porosity on the acid sites of natural zeolite clinoptilolite N2 - Heavy feedstock from crude and bio oil is a widely available and renewable resource for production of fuel and starting materials for other organic valuables by cracking or hydrocracking. Catalytic processing of heavy feedstock can meet the increased demand of energy up to a great extent. It requires the application of acidic catalysts like zeolites. However, the used synthetic catalysts are difficult to recover and reuse and are mostly spent. The use of natural zeolite as spent catalysts may open new perspectives in the chemical use of heavy feed feedstock by chemical conversion. Natural zeolites are not expensive, widely available and environment friendly. Clinoptilolite is the most abundant natural zeolite. Clinoptilolite has a crystalline structure with a defined micropore system of medium size showing unique ion exchange and sorption properties. However, it is catalytically active only in the H-form. Also certain porosity is required for improvement of the accessibility of active sites. This paper deals with the tuning of acid properties and of the mesoporosity of the clinoptilolite by variation of the Si/Al framework ratio, extra-framework aluminum and modification of the porosity by specific acid and water vapor treatment. The preparation of hierarchical pore structures containing interconnected micro-meso-macropores is an important factor influencing the catalytic performance. The obtained materials have been characterized by XRD, TEM, FTIR, Raman, TG/DSC. The chemical composition has been determined by ICP-AES. The porosity have been investigated by nitrogen adsorption desorption measurements. The acidity has been measured by Ammonia-TPD. The extent of dealumination, stability of the clinoptilolite against acid treatment and the change in the nature of acid sites and their local structure has been studied by solid state 29Si and 27Al MAS NMR spectroscopy in detail. The catalytic activity has been investigated in the acetalization of benzaldehyde with 1,3-butanediol. The impact of the porosity, change of the Si/Al ratio as well as present Al species on catalytic properties will be discussed. T2 - 28. This chain represents the ideal way to practically useful standards. The presentation will give an overview on the main players in the field and summarize the recent status of activities. At the highest level the metrology of chemical characterization of 2D materials is in the scope of the International Meter Convention, specifically the Consultative Committee for Amount of Substance: Metrology in Chemistry and Biology (CCQM). Pre-standardization is an activity field of the Versailles Project on Advanced Materials and Standards (VAMAS). Standardization is mainly addressed by addressed ISO Technical Committees. A summary on available CRMs relevant to the characterization of nano materials has been prepared by BAM. The major advantage of quantitative NMR spectroscopy (qNMR) is that it is a direct ratio method of analysis without the need of calibration. This means that the signal for a specific NMR-active nucleus (e.g., a proton) in an analyte can be compared and quantified by reference to a different nucleus of a separate compound, comparable to a counting of spins in the active volume of the spectrometer. Technical mixtures can be investigated online directly next to a process setup by using flow probes. This makes it a promising method for process analytical applications, especially during process development in laboratory and pilot plant scale. With the growing market of Benchtop devices based on permanent magnets nowadays an integration of NMR spectroscopy in an industrial environment becomes reasonable. A special application of qNMR in technical mixtures is the observation in the gas phase, which is rarely applied compared to liquid and solid NMR studies. Because of the low density it results in a reduced sensitivity, which can be improved by applying pressure. Therefore a high-pressure NMR setup was developed based on a commercially available NMR tube made of zirconia. This is currently tested up to 20 MPa, but can be extended up to 100 MPa with regard to pressure rating of its components. This work shows results of gas-phase application on natural-gas like reference gas mixtures produced at BAM, as well as investigations on liquefied gas mixtures with high accuracy provided in piston cylinders. Only few thermoresponsive polymers that present an upper critical solution temperature (UCST) in a relevant temperature range, i.e. phase separate from solution upon cooling, have been reported so far. Moreover, the most studied UCST type polymers namely polybetaines are difficult to use under physiological conditions, which significantly restricts their potential applications. Therefore, UCST polymers with sharp and robust phase transition in physiological conditions (in the presence of salts, ions etc.) are highly needed in order to extend the range of applications of this class of polymers. Herein, a robust UCST-type copolymer of acrylamide (AAm) and acrylonitrile (AN) (poly(AAm-co-AN)) was prepared by reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization and its thermo-induced aggregation behavior in aqueous media was studied. At temperature below the UCST, the copolymer chains were aggregated together. The aggregate size was found to be larger with increasing AN contents and became smaller upon dilution of the copolymer solutions. While above the UCST, the copolymer chains were expanded and weekly associated in solution. The association between the copolymer chains formed smaller aggregates with increasing the AN contents or the dilution of the solutions. The ability to penetrate dielectric materials makes T-rays attractive to reveal discontinuities in polymer and ceramic materials. THz-Time Domain Spectroscopy Systems (THz-TDS) are available on the market today which operates with THz-pulses transmitted and received by optically pumped semiconductor antennas. In THz-TDS the travelling time (ToF) and shape of the pulse is changed if it interacts with the dielectric material and its inherent disconti-nuities. A tomogram of the object under the test can be reconstructed from time of flight diffraction (ToFD) scans if a synthetic focusing aperture (SAFT) algorithm is applied. Otherwise, planar discontinuities like cracks in plastics or delaminated lay-ers in composites can be abstracted as layers located at any angle in relation to the outer sample surface direction. BAM-L200 is prepared from a cross-sectioned epitaxially grown layer stack of AlxGa1-xAs and InxGa1 xAs on a GaAs substrate. The surface of BAM-L200 provides a flat pattern with stripe widths ranging down to 1 nm. Calibration distances, grating periods and stripe widths have been certified by TEM with traceability to the length unit. The combination of gratings, isolated narrow stripes and sharp edges of wide stripes offers a plenty of options for the determination of lateral resolution, sharpness and calibration of length scale at selected settings of imaging surface analytical instruments. In a previous study we were able to improve the detectability of honeycombs by fusing the information from the three different sensors with the density based clustering algorithm DBSCAN. We demonstrated the advantage of data fusion in reducing the false positives up to 10% compared to the best single sensor, thus, improving the detectability of the defects. Im Ergebnis des EU EMRP Projekts Dynamic mechanical properties and long-term deformation behavior of viscous materials (MEPROVISC)“ wurden die zwei neuen Normprojekte für die Instrumentierte Eindringprüfung „Linear elastische dynamische Eindringprüfung“ und „Eindringkriechen und zeitabhängige Eigenschaften“ vorgeschlagen und mit deren Bearbeitung im ISO/TC 164/SC3 Hardness Testing begonnen. These include responsive luminescent properties and exceptionally high loading capacities for small molecular drugs. However, currently the lack of a surface functionality independent method for biomolecule conjugation is strongly limiting the advancement of colloidal MOFs in bioanalytical or biomedical applications. Bioanalytical methods, especially for environmental analysis, would benefit dramatically when responsive luminescent properties of MOFs could be coupled with a specific antibody interaction. Targeted drug delivery in biomedical applications often requires specificity towards tissues of interest in addition to a high drug loading capacity. Thus, both envisioned applications require biomolecules and in particular antibodies to be conjugated to colloidal MOFs. Here, we propose a robust and easy to handle method that is suitable for a wide range of MOF templates and that allows reliable conjugation of biomolecules. Colloidal ZIF-8 MOFs with particle size between 300nm and 5µm were used as templates to adsorb polymeric multilayer through a Layer-by-Layer self-assembly process. Multilayer build up was confirmed by the change in zeta-potential of particles upon polyelectrolyte adsorption as well as dynamic light scattering experiments and SEM/TEM microscopy. Subsequent biomolecule conjugation to functional groups of the polymeric multilayer on the surface of colloidal MOFs was achieved by established carbodiimide/succinimide conjugation chemistry. Successful and stable conjugation was confirmed by employing fluorescent labeled biomolecules. Subsequently, colloidal MOF-antibody (IgG) conjugates were utilized in a solid-phase immuno assay using antibodies against carbamazepine and lithocholic acid, two interesting markers in environmental analysis. In brief, mouse anti-CBZ (Carbamazepine) and rabbit anti-lithocholic acid were separately and covalently immobilized on 2D polystyrene surfaces to form a small micro spot array. Two separate populations of colloidal MOF particles were conjugated with goat anti mouse IgG and goat anti rabbit IgG, respectively. The different fluorescent labels of the two MOF colloid populations allowed the determination of binding selectivity and strength of the colloidal MOF-antibody conjugates to the immobilized binding partners. The ability to coat MOFs in solution independent of their surface charge with polymers and subsequently to conjugate biomolecules to their surface makes this method a powerful tool to foster bioanalytical, biomedical as well as other applications. Hydrogen has compared to iron a high total neutron cross section, which allows with basic radiographic methods the visualization of hydrogen in two and three dimensions inside the microstructure of components. This enables the in situ measuring of hydrogen mass flows inside cm thick steel samples with a temporal resolution of 20 s as well as the quantitative measurement of hydrogen accumulations at the crack’s inner surfaces in hydrogen embrittled iron samples. For the first time, we detected directly gaseous hydrogen in the crack cavities and we could measure the gas pressure. This new quality of the information on a micrometer scale allows new insights for the analysis of damage mechanisms, e.g. of hydrogen embrittlement. Further, this method is non-destructive and provides local information in situ and in three dimensions with a spatial resolution of 20-30 µm, which is not accessible with common methods as e.g. thermal desorption spectroscopy. In this contribution, we show examples that demonstrate the spatial and temporal resolution of the neutron radiography and tomography method in order to visualize and quantify hydrogen accumulations at cracks. Nach der Erfolgsgeschichte der digitalen Photographie und der fast vollständigen Ablösung der Filmtechnik in der optischen Bilderfassung wurde erwartet, dass sich der Übergang von der Filmradiographie zur digitalen Radiographie schnell vollziehen sollte. Dieser Trend ist derzeit so noch nicht zu beobachten. Zur mobilen Prüfung wird in Europa immer noch vorrangig die Filmradiographie und nur teilweise die Speicherfolientechnik eingesetzt. Im Bereich der stationären Prüftechnik haben sich die Matrixdetektoren (DDA) weitgehend durchgesetzt, wobei es auch hier noch alternative Detektoren wie Bildverstärker und Fluoroskope gibt. Mit Einführung der DIN EN ISO 17636-2 wird seit 2013 erstmalig geregelt, wie man einen digitalen Detektor für die technische Radiographie auswählen soll, um im Vergleich zur Filmradiographie eine äquivalente Bildqualität zu erhalten. It has become possible to detect defects such as cracks, voids, or even material inhomogeneities. Until now, it is still difficult to quantify subsurface or hidden defects in size due to the diffusive nature of heat flow within a solid. Facing this issue, lockin thermography and other photothermal techniques have been established. They are based on exciting a sample periodically (e.g. with a halogen lamp), causing a controlled periodical heat flow and thereby representing strongly damped thermal waves. These techniques make use of interference and reflection of thermal waves which allow enhancing depth resolution. So far, only the temporal component of the light source was modified to achieve a defined vertical heat flow – In contrast, we propose a novel technique in which we are able to control both: time and space. This technique enables us to exploit the possibilities of coherent thermal wave shaping. We achieve that by combining a spatial light modulator (SLM) with a high power laser. This approach allows us to launch a set of individually controlled and fully coherent high energy thermal waves into the sample volume. That means, we intentionally use wave propagation throughout the sample’s material in both - vertical and lateral direction. As one possible application, we use a thermal waves’ interference effect of two phase shifted wave patterns to detect the position of hidden defects. The wave patterns are positioned with a certain distance and a 180° phase shift to each other creating an amplitude depletion zone right in the middle of the two patterns. When a defect is brought unsymmetrically into the depletion zone, the lateral heat flow is disturbed. If the sample is now moved through the depletion zone, a defect can be easily characterized. Exciting periodically while controlling simultaneously phase and amplitude enables us to have a defined thermal wave propagation throughout the sample which means thermal waves can be controlled almost like acoustical or optical waves. This offers the opportunity to transfer known technologies from wave shaping techniques to thermography methods. The selected X-ray spectra for the dual-energy experiments correspond to 3 MV and 7.5 MV acceleration potential of the used betatron. Experiments were performed on a test phantom containing step wedges of different low- and high-Z materials. We evaluated the ratio between low- and high-energy X-ray attenuation coefficients quantitatively based on simulated poly-energetic high-energy X-ray source spectra and the detector sensitivity using the “analytical Radiographic Testing inspection simulation tool” (aRTist) developed at BAM. Furthermore, the influence of scattered radiation is evaluated using an efficient Monte-Carlo simulation. The simulation results are compared quantitatively with experimental investigations. Finally, important applications of the proposed technique in the context of aviation security are discussed. Hier besteht das Katalysatorsystem meist aus Übergangsmetallkomplexen, vorwiegend Kobalt und Rhodium, die zur Steuerung der Selektivität und Löslichkeit mit mehrzähnigen Liganden koordiniert sind. Diese Komplexe liegen für eine effiziente Katalysator-rückführung in wässriger Lösung vor, was jedoch die Anwendbarkeit auf kurzkettige Edukte mit hinreichender Wasserlöslichkeit beschränkt. Ein möglicher Lösungsansatz für die Verwendung langkettiger Alkene ist die Umsetzung der Reaktion in einer Mikroemulsion. Durch die gesteigerte Phasen-grenzfläche besteht ein effektiver Kontakt von Katalysator und Reaktanden bei gleichzeitiger Möglichkeit der Produktseparation durch Phasentrennung, während der Katalysator dem Reaktionsschritt zurückgeführt wird und das Verfahren damit wirtschaftlich macht.[1] Am Beispiel der Reaktion von 1-Dodecen zu Tridecanal wird der Einsatz von Online-NMR- und -Raman-Spektroskopie für die Prozessanalytik (sowie Applikation von komplexen Regelungskonzepten) innerhalb eines mizellaren Systems demonstriert. Ein speziell konzipierter Laboraufbau ermöglicht die Durchführung von Experimenten unter Prozessbedingungen für die in Mikroemulsionen äußerst anspruchsvolle Entwicklung und Kalibrierung von multivariaten Modellen für die Raman-Spektroskopie. Diese konnten anschließend im Rahmen einer mehrtägigen Betriebs-studie einer Miniplant am realen technischen System erprobt werden. Here, a combination of nano-sized relaxation spectroscopies (Broadband dielectric spectroscopy (BDS) and Specific heat spectroscopy (SHS); employing AC nanochip calorimetry) were utilized to investigate the glassy dynamics of ultra-thin films of blends of Poly (vinyl methyl ether) (PVME) / Polystyrene (PS) 50:50 wt-%, which are miscible bulk (thicknesses: 8nm - 200nm, film thickness was controlled by ellipsometry, film topography by AFM). Both methods are sensitive to different probes; where SHS senses entropy fluctuations while BDS measures dipole fluctuations. For BDS measurements, a recently developed nano-structured electrode sample arrangement is employed; where ultra-thin films are spin-coated on an ultra-flat highly conductive silicon wafer, sandwiched between a wafer with nanostructured SiO2 nano-spacers with heights between 35 nm and 70 nm. The method was applied for film thicknesses up to 50 nm. For thicker films, the samples were prepared between crossed electrodes. It was proven that, for 50 nm films, both contact methods will lead to identical results. By measuring the dynamic Tg in dependence of the film thickness, SHS showed that the Tg of the whole film was strongly influenced by a nanometer-thick surface layer at the polymer/air interface due to a self-assembling process [1]. The dynamic Tg obtained from the SHS measurements decrease with decreasing film thickness, evidencing the importance of a mobile surface layer at the polymer/air interface for the glass transition of the whole film. Compared to the SHS results, the BDS measurements show a completely different behavior. At high temperatures, the temperature dependence of the relaxation times of the films follows that of bulk-like PS/PVME; obeying the VFT-law. With decreasing temperature, the temperature dependence deviates from the VFT to an Arrhenius law; where the apparent activation energy decreases with decreasing film thickness. This is the first example where confinement induced changes were observed by BDS for ultra-thin films. All results were analyzed in details in a comprehensive discussion.
