TY - CONF A1 - Mirtsch, Mona T1 - International Diffusion of the Information Security Management System Standard ISO/IEC 27001: Exploring the role of culture N2 - In the wake of digitalization, organizations are increasingly exposed to risks associated with security breaches and must take measures to preserve the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information, and to ensure business continuity. The international standard ISO/IEC 27001 assists organizations in setting up, maintaining and continuously improving their information security management systems. However, despite high growth rates, its international diffusion rates are quite heterogeneous. This paper explores why the diffusion of the international management system standard ISO/IEC 27001 differs across countries. We classify the adoption of ISO/IEC 27001 as a ‘preventive organizational innovation’ and draw from diffusion studies of other management system standards and information security research to develop a set of hypotheses. These relate to the impact of cultural dimensions and national ICT development. We use a negative binomial regression model with panel data covering 57 countries over a 12-year period from 2006 to 2017 to test our hypotheses. We find that the cultural dimensions future orientation, power distance, and institutional collectivism as well as high ICT development are driving factors for the diffusion of ISO/IEC 27001. We derive policy recommendations and avenues for future research. Up to date, typically bulk analysis is aimed at measuring the isotopic composition of the entire elemental content of the sample. However, the analyte element is usually present under the form of different species. Thus, separating species of interest from one another and from matrix components prior to isotope ratio measurements can provide species-specific isotopic information, which could be used for tracing the origin of environmental pollutants and elucidation of (environmental) speciation. Using on-line hyphenations of separation techniques with multicollector-ICP-MS (MC-ICP-MS) can save time and effort and enables the analysis of different species during a single measurement. Whereas some works hyphenating GC and IC with MC-ICP-MS have already been reported, LC and CE hyphenations are still inadequately represented based on the capabilities of these separation techniques. In this work, we developed an on-line hyphenation of CE with multicollector-ICP-MS (CE/MC-ICP-MS) for isotopic analysis of sulfur species using a multiple-injection approach for instrumental mass bias correction by standard-sample bracketing. With this method, the isotopic composition of sulfur in sulfate originating from river water could be analyzed without sample preparation. The results were compared to data from off-line analysis of the same samples to ensure accuracy. The precision of the results of the on-line measurements was promising regarding the differentiation of the river systems by the isotopic signature of river water sulfate. The great potential of this method is based on the versatility of the applied separation technique, not only in the environmental field but also for, e.g., biomolecules, as sulfur is the only covalently bound constituent of proteins that can be analyzed by MC-ICP-MS. T1 - Laser Induced Plasma for Chemical Vapor Deposition: Theory and Experiment N2 - A possibility of deposition from laser-induced plasma (LIP) is investigated in search for an economic and simple method to obtain isotopic compounds from enriched gaseous precursors. A breakdown in mixtures of BCl3 and BCl3 with hydrogen, argon, and methane are studied both theoretically and experimentally. Calculations of expanding plasma of different composition are performed with the use of the fluid dynamic code coupled to the equilibrium chemistry solver. Condensed phases of boron, boron carbide, and graphite are predicted showing maximum concentrations in peripheral zones of the plasma. In experiment LIP is induced in mixtures BCl3, Н2+BCl3, H2+Ar+BCl3, H2+BCl3+CH4, BF3, Н2+BF3, H2+Ar+BF3, and H2+Ar+BF3. The gases are analyzed before, during, and after laser irradiation by optical and mass spectroscopic methods. The composition of reaction products is found to be close to that predicted theoretically. The conversion of precursor gases BCl3 and BF3 into gaseous and condensed products is 100% for BCl3 and 80% for BF3. Solid deposits of up to 30 mg are obtained from all the reaction mixtures. FTIR analysis of BCl3+H2+CH4 deposits points to a presence of condensed boron and boron carbide that are also predicted by the model. Both calculations and preliminary experimental results suggest the chemical vapor deposition by LIP is promising for conversion of gaseous enriched precursors into elemental isotopes and their isotopic compounds. Toxicological relevant metals can possibly accumulate within the food web and cause harmful effects. Diatoms are a test system in ecotoxicology. Toxicological effects weaken the growth of algae which is by default investigated by means of fluorescence detection. On basis of the expose concentration as well as obtained fluorescence data potential threshold exceedance in e.g. surface waters is assessed. However, this approach does not allow for the determination of “real” accumulated metal concentration in diatoms. Common approaches are based on bulk analysis via e.g. ICP-MS, ICP-OES or AAS. But, biological variability is completely disregarded. To tackle this problem, alternative approaches are highly needed. Within the last years, sp-ICP-MS for nanoparticle as well as single cell analysis turned out as a powerful technique to analyze metal contents as well as size distributions on broad size range. But, common ICP-MS systems do not allow for multi-element detection within single particle/cell events. Thus, simultaneous MS detection devices are needed - just recently, ICP-ToF-MS experienced a revival. Within our previous work, we developed an automated sample introduction system based on a HPLC system on-line with single particle-ICP-MS, which allowed for ionic background separation and single algae analysis. However, for unambiguous tracing several fingerprint elements and multielement analysis in single algae (diatoms) is needed. Thus, we coupled our previous setup on-line to ICP-ToF-MS. Test diatom species were exposed to test substances (Zn) as well as nanoparticles (FeNPs). The developed setup allowed for a fast, automated and multielement analysis in single diatoms. Furthermore, we combined our approach with multivariate data assessment - multielement detection of characteristic fingerprint elements allowed for an unambiguous diatom tracing. As a part of the DFG research group CoDA (Concrete Damage Assessment by Coda Waves), the works within this PhD project aim for identification of damage sensitive parameters extracted from ultrasonic measurements obtained with embedded sensors, the determination of environmental (reversible) influences on the signal and the localisation of damaged areas. The main technique used for the detection of changes in the monitored material is the so-called Coda Wave Interferometry (CWI). It uses the later part of the ultrasonic recording for the detection of small changes in the sensed area and the calculation of a relative velocity change. Using this technique we can show that we are able to detect changes in concrete temperature with ultrasound measurements. This enables temperature correction for ultrasound monitoring with embedded sensors. The crucial point for imaging and localisation with coda waves is the calculation of the so-called sensitivity kernels. We propose the application of numerical wave simulations for the kernel calculations instead of the commonly used diffusivity equation. Using finite-difference wave modelling code from our DFG project partners we are able to calculate those Kernels and first results are shown in this presentation. Die Ergebnisse ZPM vs. CAT und Kraft- vs. Weg-Regelung des Vorversuches zeigten keinerlei Unterschiede auf. Im Ergebnis wurde ein Ringversuch im Kraft-geregelten Mode (6xZPM vs. 8xCAT) für ein Referenzsystem durchgeführt, der nachwies, dass die CAT-Technologie statistisch relevante Prüfergebnisse zur Klebfestigkeit bereitstellt. Es zeigte sich, dass für zwei ZPM-Teilnehmer im Vertrauensbereich 99% statistisch signifikant etwas kleinere Werte der Klebfestigkeit bestimmt wurden, was auf geringfügige Abweichungen von der axialen Ausrichtung des eingespannten Prüflings bei der Ein-Proben-ZPM-Zugprüfung zurückgeführt wird. We circumvent this degradation with blind structured illumination, combined with a non-linear joint sparsity reconstruction algorithm. We demonstrate this by imaging a line pattern and a star-shaped structure through a metal sheet with a resolution four times better than the width of the thermal point-spread-function. The ground-breaking concept of super-resolution can be transferred from optics to diffusive imaging by defining a thermal point-spread-function similar to the Abbe limit for a certain optical wavelength. These results can be set in a historical context and help to confirm art historical interpretations. Proofs of certain pigments can be used for dating purposes and may reveal if the artist used not only local but also imported materials. A pilot study of two Chinese reverse glass paintings from the late 19th (Yingying and Hongniang) and early 20th centuries (The Archer) was performed using a multi-analytical approach including X-ray fluorescence (XRF), diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) and Raman spectroscopy. This approach allowed the identification of the pigments and the classification of the binding media. The results reveal a combined use of traditional Chinese and imported European materials. Several pigments like cinnabar, lead white, orpiment, carbon black and copper-arsenic green (probably emerald green) were found in both paintings; red lead, artificial ultramarine blue, Prussian blue and ochre appear in at least one of the paintings. The proof of limewash (calcite and small amounts of portlandite) as a backing layer in “Yingying and Hongniang” indicates that clamshell white was also used for reverse glass paintings. Drying oil was classified as a binding media in most areas of both paintings. However, the orange background of The Archer yielded prominent bands of both proteinaceous and fatty binder. Using on-line hyphenations of separation techniques with multicollector-ICP-MS (MC-ICP-MS) can save time and effort and enables the analysis of different species during a single measurement. In this work, we developed an on-line hyphenation of CE with multicollector-ICP-MS (CE/MC-ICP-MS) for isotopic analysis of sulfur species. With this method, the isotopic composition of sulfur in sulfate originating from river water could be analyzed without sample preparation. The results were compared with data from off-line analysis of the same samples to ensure accuracy. The precision of the results of the on-line measurements was high enough to distinguish the rivers from one another by the isotopic signature of the river water sulfate. Especially in the field of pharmaceuticals, fluorinated organic molecules are becoming more and more popular and at present amount up to 25% of market share, with an upward trend. The main benefits of fluorinated pharmaceuticals are: (i) enhanced fat solubility; (ii) enhanced interaction of catalytic-center of enzymes with fluorine-drugs; (iii) a delayed metabolism within the human body. Highly fluorinated organic substances are also used in technical applications (e.g. coatings, fire-extinguishing agents). Due to the broad variety of fluorinated substances and increasing production volumes numerous and up to date unknown fluorine-species are most likely to be present in the (aquatic) environment. Analytical methods to assess the degree of contamination of surface waters with organically bound fluorine are highly needed and up to now only combustion ion chromatography based method is available, which is relatively laborious. Since a few years’ high resolution-continuum source-graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometers (HR-CS-GFAAS) are commercially available from Analytik Jena. By means of this technique, the detection of high resolution molecular absorption spectra (MAS) is enabled. Thus, fluoride is detectable upon the addition of a modifier and the formation of a diatomic molecule (e.g. GaF). Just recently, we applied this technique for total fluorine (mainly dissolved fluoride) analysis in river water samples. In the present work a HR-CS-GFMAS method for extractable organically bound fluorine (EOF) analysis in surface water samples was developed by us. The method is based on SPE extraction of organically bound fluorine even in the presence of high fluoride concentrations followed by HR-CS-GFMAS analysis upon elution. Due to high enrichment factors, LODs in the low ng/L range were achieved. We successfully applied our SPE HR-CS-GFMAS method to Rhine water samples and EOF in the range of about 50-300 ng/L was detectable. Developed for the use in inorganic trace analysis, ICP-MS is nowadays a valuable tool for bioanalytical questions. Especially the use of ICP-MS for quantitative proteomics by measuring heteroatoms has gained recognition in the last decade, considering that established quantification methods like organic mass spectrometry depend on labelling of the target protein or the existence of matched protein and peptide standards. The need for reliable quantification of proteins is continuously growing, but only a limited number of well-characterized and quantified protein standards are available so far. Accurately quantified, traceable protein standards are necessary to ensure comparability of measurements between laboratories, not only in basic research but also in a clinical context. One example of this is the Alzheimer’s disease biomarker tau protein. However, existing tau standards lack comparability, emphasizing the need for a well-quantified protein standard. Therefore, we developed a method for the quantification of pure proteins via sulfur isotope dilution ICP-MS (IDMS). As sulfur is present in two amino acids, cysteine and methionine, it exists in nearly all proteins and can be used for the quantification of proteins of known stoichiometry. We employed simple offline strategies for the separation of non-protein bound sulfur species. Quantification of these contaminations by IDMS allows for correction of the protein content and enables reliable protein quantification. We report the protein mass fractions of a standard reference material and commercially available proteins determined by sulfur IDMS, including the expanded uncertainties. The developed method can be applied for the reliable and traceable quantification of pure proteins for use as in-house standards. It is based on applying thermal energy to a samples’ surface whereas inner defects alter the non-stationary heat flow. Conventional excitation of a sample is hereby done spatially, either planar (e.g. using a lamp) or local (e.g. using a focused laser) and temporally, either pulsed or periodical. In this work we combine a high power laser with a Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) allowing us to merge all degrees of freedom to a spatially and temporally controlled heat source. This enables us to exploit the possibilities of coherent thermal wave shaping. Exciting periodically while controlling at the same time phase and amplitude of the illumination source induces – via absorption at the sample’s surface - a defined thermal wave propagation through a sample. That means thermal waves can be controlled almost like acoustical or optical waves. However, in contrast to optical or acoustical waves, thermal waves are highly damped due to the diffusive character of the thermal heat flow and therefore limited in penetration depth in relation to the achievable resolution. Nevertheless, the coherence length of thermal waves can be chosen in the mm-range for modulation frequencies below 10 Hz which is perfectly met by DMD technology. This approach gives us the opportunity to transfer known technologies from wave shaping techniques to thermography methods. Das Verfahren eignet sich dazu, den Grad der Passivität in Abhängigkeit der Umgebungsbedingungen und der Zeit nachzuvollziehen. Dies ermöglicht dem Anwender und Verarbeiter von nichtrostenden Stählen, die Lagerungsbedingungen und –zeiten einer frisch bearbeiteten Stahloberfläche zu ermitteln, welche für die Ausbildung einer stabilen Passivschicht notwendig sind, bevor diese risikoarm eingesetzt werden kann. Wie die hier dargestellten Beispiele und auch weitere zahlreiche praktische Anwendungen gezeigt haben, eignet sich das KorroPad ebenfalls für die Identifikation kritischer Prozessparameter bei der Verarbeitung nichtrostender Stähle. Mit dem Verfahren lassen sich viele prozessbedingte Einflussfaktoren auf die Oberflächengüte wie auch auf den Werkstoff charakterisieren. It is well accepted and subject of standardization in many countries. However, some issues with the method remain. As the grout columns are produced in the subsurface without visual control in an often inhomogeneous soil, the prediction of the column’s diameter is still a challenge. All methods applied so far have their limitations. The approach presented in this study is twofold. At Colorado School of Mines a resistivity probe has been developed, which is pushed into the fresh grout directly after production. ERT sections are measured and inverted. Given some background information is available, the diameter of the columns can be evaluated. At BAM the focus has been on post-production investigations using seismic borehole methods. After hardening of the concrete seismic waves are sent through the column downhole (sensors placed in a casing in the column’s axis, source on top) and crosshole (source and sensor in boreholes on opposite sides of the column). We have developed a scheme to evaluate the diameter of the column based on travel time measurements without calibration. As this method is eventually more time and cost intensive we assume its application mainly for test columns. These are casted and dug out for visual inspection to determine appropriate grouting parameters. Our method would replace the often very cost intensive visual inspection. Both approaches have been tested at three test columns produced at BAM’s test site at Horstwalde, Germany and on an actual constructions site. Both methods have been in good agreement with the diameters predicted by the jet grouting contractors, which were confirmed in one case by mechanical measurements. Usually applied for short-chained alkenes like Propene and Butene aldehydes obtained from alkenes >C6 are relevant intermediates in production of plasticizers, surfactants and polymers. Today the active catalyst species is often based on valuable Rhodium complexes in aqueous solution. This implies the problem of limited water solubility of the reactants, which is acceptable for short chain lengths, but states a problem in case of higher alkenes. Along with that efficient separation and recycling of the catalyst becomes more complicated. There are different approaches tackling this problem, e.g., by using of salt formation in the BASF process or downstream distillation within the Shell process. Another promising approach is the processing within a microemulsion by using a suitable surfactant system. This maintains a large interface between catalyst and reactants, as well as the possibility of catalyst recycling via downstream phase separation in a settler. Optimized processing within the three-phase region in accordance with Kahlweit fish leads to an efficient product separation, while the valuable catalyst and surfactant can be recycled into the process. In this work we present reaction monitoring of Rh-catalyzed hydroformylation of 1 dodecene. Type and amount of the organic additives (dispersants, binders and plasticizers) define viscosity and stability of the slurry, the granulate structure and the compaction behaviour. Alumina and Zirconia powders were characterized with regard to particle size, shape and specific surface area (BET). Zeta-potential measurements by Stabino® were used to investigate the effect of different dispersants on slurry stability. Unfortunately, this method is restricted to suspensions with less than about 30% by weight of solid content. The multi-sample analytical centrifuge LUMiSizer® overcomes this problem. This device enables analysis of the separation behaviour of suspensions over a wide range of solid content. On the basis of position and time resolved photometric detection of transmitted light, it is possible to determine the instability index, the sedimentation velocity, and the sediment height in dependence of type and amount of organic additives at various centrifugal accelerations. Additional information is obtained from the shape of the transmission profiles. Based on LUMiSizer® measurements, suitable additive concentrations were derived. Thereby, the number of investigations by viscometry and spray drying experiments can be significantly reduced. Finally, it was possible to produce alumina, zirconia and ZTA aqueous slurries with up to 80 weight-% of solid. The optimized suspensions were successfully spray dried and the resulted granules show good compaction behaviour. This showed that modern NMR equipment is also suitable for the observation of hydrocarbon samples in the expanded fluid phase or gas phase. Since Quantitative NMR spectroscopy (qNMR) is a direct ratio method of analysis without the need of calibration it was used to determine impurities in appropriate liquid and liquefied hydrocarbon isomers up to C6, which are used for preparation of primary gas standards, e.g., natural gas or exhaust gas standards. At the same time it is possible to yield structural information with a minimum of sample preparation. Thus, cross contaminations between different isomers of the observed hydrocarbons and their (NMR-active) impurities can be identified and quantified. In general, most quantitative organic chemical measurements rely on the availability of highly purified compounds to act as calibration standards. The traceability and providence of these standards is an essential component of any measurement uncertainty budget and provides the final link of the result to the units of measurement, ideally the SI. The more recent increase in the use of qNMR for the direct assessment of chemical purity however can potentially improve the traceability and reduce the uncertainty of the measured chemical purity at a reduced cost and with less material. For example the method has beneficially been used by National Measurement institutes for recent CCQM comparisons including the CCQM–K55 series of purity studies. Traditional ‘indirect’ methods of purity analysis require that all impurities are identified and quantified, leading to a minimum of 4 individual analytical methods (organic impurities, water, solvents, inorganic residue). These multiple technique approaches measure an array of different chemical impurities normally present in purified organic chemical compounds. As many analytical methodologies have compound-specific response factors, the accuracy and traceability of the purity assessment is dependent on the availability of reference materials of the impurities being available. qNMR provides the most universally applicable form of direct purity determination without need for reference materials of impurities or the calculation of response factors but only exhibiting suitable NMR properties. The development of CRMs addressing qNMR specific measurement issues will give analysts compounds ideally suited for the analytical method and also provide full characterisation of qNMR related parameters to enable more realistic uncertainty budgets. These materials will give users the tools to exploit qNMR more easily and enable them to speed up analytical method development and reduce the time and financial burden of multiple analytical testing. T1 - Online measurements in a bypass: challenges and possibilities N2 - The design of sample flow cells, commonly used in online analytics and especially for medium resolution NMR spectroscopy (MR-NMR) in low magnetic fields, was experimentally and theoretically investigated by 1H-NMR and numerical simulations. The flow pattern was characterised to gain information about the residence time distribution and mixing effects. Both 1H-NMR imaging and spectroscopy were used to determine the characteristics of flow cells and their significance for on-line measurements such as reaction monitoring or hyphenated separation spectroscopy. The volume flow rates investigated were in the range from 0.1 to 10 ml/min, typically applied in the above mentioned applications. When compared to those commonly used in high-field NMR, the special characteristics of flow cells for MR-NMR were revealed by various NMR experiments and compared with CFD simulations. The influence of the design of the inlet and outlet on the flow pattern was investigated as well as the effect of the length of the cell. For practical use, a numerical estimation of the inflow length was given. In addition, it was shown how experiments on the polarisation build-up revealed insight into the flow characteristics in MR-NMR. T1 - Influence of the of dealumination and porosity on the acid sites of natural zeolite clinoptilolite N2 - Heavy feedstock from crude and bio oil is a widely available and renewable resource for production of fuel and starting materials for other organic valuables by cracking or hydrocracking. Catalytic processing of heavy feedstock can meet the increased demand of energy up to a great extent. It requires the application of acidic catalysts like zeolites. However, the used synthetic catalysts are difficult to recover and reuse and are mostly spent. The use of natural zeolite as spent catalysts may open new perspectives in the chemical use of heavy feed feedstock by chemical conversion. Natural zeolites are not expensive, widely available and environment friendly. Clinoptilolite is the most abundant natural zeolite. Clinoptilolite has a crystalline structure with a defined micropore system of medium size showing unique ion exchange and sorption properties. However, it is catalytically active only in the H-form. Also certain porosity is required for improvement of the accessibility of active sites. This paper deals with the tuning of acid properties and of the mesoporosity of the clinoptilolite by variation of the Si/Al framework ratio, extra-framework aluminum and modification of the porosity by specific acid and water vapor treatment. The preparation of hierarchical pore structures containing interconnected micro-meso-macropores is an important factor influencing the catalytic performance. The obtained materials have been characterized by XRD, TEM, FTIR, Raman, TG/DSC. The chemical composition has been determined by ICP-AES. The porosity have been investigated by nitrogen adsorption desorption measurements. The acidity has been measured by Ammonia-TPD. The extent of dealumination, stability of the clinoptilolite against acid treatment and the change in the nature of acid sites and their local structure has been studied by solid state 29Si and 27Al MAS NMR spectroscopy in detail. The catalytic activity has been investigated in the acetalization of benzaldehyde with 1,3-butanediol. The impact of the porosity, change of the Si/Al ratio as well as present Al species on catalytic properties will be discussed. T2 - 28. It is particularly appropriate for composite materials being used in automotive and aviation industry. Air-coupled ultrasound transducers mostly consist of piezoelectric materials and matching layers. However, their fabrication is challenging and their signal-to-noise ratio often not sufficient for many testing requirements. To enhance the efficiency, air-coupled ultrasound transducers made of cellular polypropylene have been developed. Because of its small density and sound velocity, this piezoelectric ferroelectret matches the small acoustic impedance of air much better than matching layers applied in conventional transducers. In our contribution, we present two different methods of spherical focusing of ferroelectret transducers for the further enhancement of their performance in NDT applications. Measurements on carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) samples and on metal adhesive joints performed with commercially available focused air-coupled ultrasound transducers are compared to measurements executed with self-developed focused ferroelectret transducers. The Surface Analysis Working Group (SAWG) has been formally founded in 2003. CCQM ratified the group as a full working group of CCQM in April 2003 with these terms of reference: - to develop pilot studies and carry out key comparisons of national measurement standards for surface and micro/nano-analysis; - to assist in identifying and establishing inter-laboratory work to improve the traceability of surface and micro/nano-analysis; - to establish and update a work plan to be adopted by CCQM; - to discuss and review the scope of the working group and to liase with other working groups related to nanotechnology. Following the 2015 meeting of the CCQM, the pilot study CCQM-P130 “WD and ED Electron Probe Micro Analysis on Au-Cu alloys” lead by BAM&NIST has been finalized. These have to be underpinned by appropriate measurements. Consequently there is a need for the development of the metrology for measurement methods, the development of certified reference materials (CRM) and finally standardization. This chain represents the ideal way to practically useful standards. The presentation will give an overview on the main players in the field and summarize the recent status of activities. At the highest level the metrology of chemical characterization of 2D materials is in the scope of the International Meter Convention, specifically the Consultative Committee for Amount of Substance: Metrology in Chemistry and Biology (CCQM). Pre-standardization is an activity field of the Versailles Project on Advanced Materials and Standards (VAMAS). Standardization is mainly addressed by addressed ISO Technical Committees. A summary on available CRMs relevant to the characterization of nano materials has been prepared by BAM. Examples from the work of BAM’s Division 6.1 “Surface Analysis and Interfacial Chemistry” showcasing the characterization of chemically modified graphene surfaces are given and specific needs for the development of metrology are addressed. The major advantage of quantitative NMR spectroscopy (qNMR) is that it is a direct ratio method of analysis without the need of calibration. This means that the signal for a specific NMR-active nucleus (e.g., a proton) in an analyte can be compared and quantified by reference to a different nucleus of a separate compound, comparable to a counting of spins in the active volume of the spectrometer. Technical mixtures can be investigated online directly next to a process setup by using flow probes. This makes it a promising method for process analytical applications, especially during process development in laboratory and pilot plant scale. With the growing market of Benchtop devices based on permanent magnets nowadays an integration of NMR spectroscopy in an industrial environment becomes reasonable. A special application of qNMR in technical mixtures is the observation in the gas phase, which is rarely applied compared to liquid and solid NMR studies. Because of the low density it results in a reduced sensitivity, which can be improved by applying pressure. Therefore a high-pressure NMR setup was developed based on a commercially available NMR tube made of zirconia. This is currently tested up to 20 MPa, but can be extended up to 100 MPa with regard to pressure rating of its components. This work shows results of gas-phase application on natural-gas like reference gas mixtures produced at BAM, as well as investigations on liquefied gas mixtures with high accuracy provided in piston cylinders. Only few thermoresponsive polymers that present an upper critical solution temperature (UCST) in a relevant temperature range, i.e. phase separate from solution upon cooling, have been reported so far. Moreover, the most studied UCST type polymers namely polybetaines are difficult to use under physiological conditions, which significantly restricts their potential applications. Therefore, UCST polymers with sharp and robust phase transition in physiological conditions (in the presence of salts, ions etc.) are highly needed in order to extend the range of applications of this class of polymers. Herein, a robust UCST-type copolymer of acrylamide (AAm) and acrylonitrile (AN) (poly(AAm-co-AN)) was prepared by reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization and its thermo-induced aggregation behavior in aqueous media was studied. At temperature below the UCST, the copolymer chains were aggregated together. The aggregate size was found to be larger with increasing AN contents and became smaller upon dilution of the copolymer solutions. While above the UCST, the copolymer chains were expanded and weekly associated in solution. The association between the copolymer chains formed smaller aggregates with increasing the AN contents or the dilution of the solutions. The ability to penetrate dielectric materials makes T-rays attractive to reveal discontinuities in polymer and ceramic materials. THz-Time Domain Spectroscopy Systems (THz-TDS) are available on the market today which operates with THz-pulses transmitted and received by optically pumped semiconductor antennas. In THz-TDS the travelling time (ToF) and shape of the pulse is changed if it interacts with the dielectric material and its inherent disconti-nuities. A tomogram of the object under the test can be reconstructed from time of flight diffraction (ToFD) scans if a synthetic focusing aperture (SAFT) algorithm is applied. Otherwise, planar discontinuities like cracks in plastics or delaminated lay-ers in composites can be abstracted as layers located at any angle in relation to the outer sample surface direction. A tomogram from the scanned sample can then be reconstructed in case the interactions of electromagnetic pulses with the existing in-herent interfaces are detectable and a model is assumed which describes the device under the test as multilayer structure composed of thin layers with different dielec-tric properties. Among all the methods employed for rapid tests, lateral flow assays (LFAs) are the most commonly used. However, some drawbacks are that most of these tests either indicate the analyte only indirectly, and in other cases the sensitivity is not high enough. Keeping in mind these limitations, the use of stimuli-responsive materials for small-molecule sensing relying on chemical signal amplification and utilizing specific interactions between biomolecules such as antibodies and the corresponding analytes are particularly attractive. Such materials can also be incorporated on paper strips for lateral-flow assays in a straightforward manner. These sensing materials comprise mesoporous silica nanoparticles loaded with indicator molecules and containing certain hapten derivative molecules covalently grafted at the surface, which bind to the respective antibody and inhibit the release of a dye as reporter (Scheme 1). In presence of the designated analyte, a displacement of the antibody from the material is observed, allowing the release of dye. Because a large number of indicator molecules can be released when a single analyte molecule binds to an antibody cap, a strong signal amplification is observed. Ten European accreditation bodies attended the comparison, four of which had already taken part in the pilot phase of the benchmarking project, which was conducted in 2017 by the German accreditation body Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH (DAkkS) and the BAM. The study, designed to examine and compare the operation of accreditation bodies in Europe, used a management tool called Process Maturity Benchmarking Tool, which was especially elaborated and validated for this purpose in the pilot phase, in order to determine the values of indicators, thus enabling a comparison of the accreditation bodies despite different operational processes and organizational forms. The management tool is based on the analysis of selected processes with high relevance for the operation of accreditation bodies. The processes are derived from a process map designed for accreditation bodies in a universally applicable way. The indicators used to characterize the processes come from two sources: The first source relates to data already available from internal databases, reports, financial audits, and others. The second source is derived from the self-evaluation of process maturity performed by the accreditation bodies. The criteria for evaluating process maturities were designed by applying the criteria of the EFQM excellence model 2013 of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) to the processes identified in the process map. However, since diagenesis can significantly alter in vivo incorporated isotope signatures and elemental compositions, it is important to understand alteration processes. Here, we present the results of in vitro alteration experiments of dental tissues from a modern African elephant molar in aqueous solutions at 30 °C and 90 °C for 4 to 63 days each. Dental cubes with ≈3 mm edge length, comprising both enamel and dentin, were placed into 2 ml of an acidic (HNO3) aqueous solution (pH ≈1) enriched with different isotopes (25Mg, 44Ca, 67Zn, 86Sr). Element and isotope distribution profiles across the different dental cubes were measured with LA-(MC-)ICP-MS and EMPA, while potential changes of the bioapatite crystal structure were characterised by Raman spectroscopy. Isotope ratios measured by LA-(MC-)ICP-MS revealed an alteration of the outer ≈200-300 μm of the enamel in all experiments. Dentin was fully altered after one week (at 90 °C) and the tracer solution started to penetrate through the dentin even into the innermost enamel. However, the central part of the enamel remained unaltered. The Raman spectra suggest a strong recrystallization in the dentin and in the outer ≈40 μm of the enamel and a partial demineralisation of the outer rim of the cubes. Our results indicate that independent of time, temperature or low initial pH, enamel apatite shows a high resistance against the experimental alteration in structure and isotopic composition, in contrast to dentin apatite. Small, often isobaric heterogeneities in topology or microstructure can usually not be simply separated chromatographically or distinguished by any common detector. Nowadays a wide range of different analytical separation techniques and multi-detection possibilities are available. The challenge consists in a clever combination of these techniques with a specific approach of data analysis. In this presentation different liquid chromatographic separation modes were combined with Electrospray Time-of-Flight mass spectrometry. The online coupling allows the analysis of reconstructed ion chromatograms (RIC) of each degree of polymerization. While a complete separation often cannot be achieved, the derived retention times and peak widths lead to information on the existence and dispersity of heterogeneities in microstructure or topology, that are otherwise inaccessible This method is suitable to detect small differences in e. g. branching, topology, monomer sequence or tacticity and could potentially be used in production control of oligomeric products or other routinely done analyses to quickly indicate deviations from set parameters. The highly nephrotoxic ochratoxin A (OTA) is one of the most important and widespread mycotoxins found in grains such as rye, wheat or oats. Thus, the fast and cost-effective detection of OTA is of great importance, to ensure that the toxin concentration is below the legal limits. Currently, the mycotoxin detection in mill operations is typically performed by means of the antibody-based ELISA method, which requires extensive laboratory equipment and specialized personnel. It was the aim of this study to develop an ELISA-inspired sensor method enabling the on-site quantification of OTA. Based on a classical competitive ELISA, an electrochemical detection system was developed. Anti-OTA-antibodies were captured on magnetic beads on which the competitive affinity reaction between OTA and an OTA- horseradish peroxidase (HRP) tracer was performed. Here the OTA concentration is inversely proportional to the amount of the bound OTA-HRP tracer, which was electrochemically quantified. For this purpose, oxidized tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), which is enzymatically produced by the reduction of H2O2 by the OTA-HRP tracer, is quantified by amperometry with screen-printed electrodes in a flow system. With this method a detection limit of 250 ng L-1 could be achieved which meets the current requirements for the detection of OTA in food and feed. For coatings, adhesive strength in N/mm2 is of Major interest for various applications such as decorative and water-repellent coatings on wood (paints and varnishes), optical coatings on glass and polymers (reflectors and filters), electrical coatings on semiconductors, glass and polymers (conducting and bondable layers), mechanical coatings on metals and polymers (wear-reduction, scratch-resistance) and adhesion-promoting layers. For composite materials, tensile strength in N/mm2 is also a key quantity for carbon fiber reinforced composites (CFC), laminates and adhesive-bonded joints. Centrifugal adhesion testing (CAT) transfers the single-sample tensile test from a tensile or universal testing machine into an analytical centrifuge as multiple-sample test of up to eight test pieces. The one-sided sample support instead of a two-sided sample clamping and the absence of mounting- and testing-correlated shear forces provides fast and reliable results both for adhesive strength and bonding strength by means of bonded test stamps. For bonding strength, the evaluation of failure pattern from microscopic inspection is required in order to determine the failure pattern according to ISO 10365 such as adhesive failure (AF), delamination failure (DF) and cohesive failure (CF). SHM is particularly attractive for components that are difficult to access or expensive to take off-line. Among many other techniques, SHM can be performed using ultrasonic guided waves (UGW) which have an advantage of traveling over Long distances. Various guided wave modes exist along with many methods for their generation and sensing, e.g by means of interdigital transducers (IDT). This contribution is dedicated to the design and characterization of a flexible piezopolymerbased IDT which allows for the selective excitation of UGW, resulting in more straightforward data analysis. The designed IDT was characterized using a 3D Laser Doppler Vibrometer (3D LDV) in the air to identify and analyze the IDT’s Vibration modes. Then the transducer was mounted on an aluminum plate, and the generated wavefield was measured with the 3D LDV. According to this investigation, we demonstrate that it is possible to selectively excite desired guided wave mode, namely the A0 mode, suppressing the excitation of the S0 mode. Moreover, the measured wavefield allows for analysis of the directivity of the designed IDT. All in all the results show good correlation between theoretical predictions and measured values, thus allowing to use the current design in terms of selective excitation as it is. An analysis of various distributed data sets across different test objects is therefore only possible with high manual effort. We present a system architecture for an integrated data management of distributed data sets based on Semantic Web technologies. The approach is essentially based on a mathematical model - the so-called ontology - which represents the knowledge of our domain NDT. The ontology developed by us is linked to data sources and thus describes the semantic meaning of the data. Furthermore, the ontology acts as a central concept for database access. Non-domain data sources can be easily integrated by linking them to the NDT construction ontology and are directly available for generic use in the sense of digitization. Based on an extensive literature research, we outline the possibilities that this offers for NDT in civil engineering, such as computer-aided sorting, analysis, recognition and explanation of relationships (explainable AI) for several million measurement data. The expected benefits of this approach of knowledge representation and data access for the NDT community are an expansion of knowledge through data exchange in research (interoperability), the scientific exploitation of large existing data sources with data-based methods (such as image recognition, measurement uncertainty calculations, factor analysis, material characterization) and finally a simplified exchange of NDT data with engineering models and thus with the construction industry. Obwohl Sie als Grundlage für wissenschaftliche Analysen dienen, gibt es noch keine einheitliche Repräsentation der Daten. Eine Analyse verschiedener verteilter Datensätze über unterschiedliche Prüfobjekte hinweg ist daher kaum möglich. Wir stellen einen Ansatz für ein integriertes Datenmanagement verteilter Datensätze auf Basis von Semantic-Web Technologien vor. Der Ansatz basiert im Kern auf einem mathematischen Modell – der sogenannten Ontologie – welches das Wissen unserer Domäne ZfPBau repräsentiert. Die von uns entwickelte ZfPBau Ontologie wird mit Datenquellen verknüpft und beschreibt so die semantische Bedeutung der Daten. The seminar addresses the two main work fields of our group: semantic data management and the handling of limited data resources. The first field addresses the problem that a uniform representation of our data is not yet available. To achieve this, we present an ontology-based approach. Ontologies are already the core of many intelligent systems such as building information models or research databases. The second field ties in with the first and addresses the application of data-based methods in engineering practice. Especially in the field of non-destructive testing many successful applications have been published. In most cases, however, the creation of referenced data is extremely expensive and therefore much sparser than in other research areas. As a result, the available data may cover only one scenario, so that common benchmarks often do not reflect the actual performance of the model in practical applications. Luftgekoppelter Ultraschall spielt bisher in kommerziellen Anwendungen vor Allem im Bauwesen eine untergeordnete Rolle, da die Differenz der akustischen Impedanzen von Luft und Festkörpern immense Verluste beim Übergang des Schallsignals hervorruft. Im Rahmen des Promotionsvorhabens soll die Eignung eines neuartigen Anregungsprinzip untersucht werden, mit dem ein Großteil dieser Verluste vermieden werden soll. Anstelle eines Festkörpers soll mit Hilfe einer fluidischen Düse Druckluft zur Signalerzeugung eingesetzt werden. Die Impedanzverluste zwischen Aktuatormembran und Umgebungsluft entfallen daher. Die gezielte Schallerzeugung durch einen pulsierenden Freistrahl ist weitgehend unerforscht. Es ist daher notwendig, den so erzeugten Schallpuls in der Interaktion mit dem transienten Strömungsfeld zu untersuchen. Das kompressible Medium Luft und die geringen räumlichen Dimensionen einer hochfrequenten Pulsdüse werfen darüber hinaus einige Herausforderungen hinsichtlich der eingesetzten Messtechnik auf. Hier sollen geeignete Verfahren weiterentwickelt und validiert werden, um die Eignung des fluidisch erzeugten Pulses zu überprüfen. In diesem Vortrag werden erste Messungen an einem fluidischen Schalter mit denen an einem kommerziellen Luftultraschallprüfkopf verglichen.
