T1 - MefHySto - Metrology for advanced hydrogen storage solutions N2 - The “Metrology for Advanced Hydrogen Storage Solutions” (MefHySto) project is a European initiative addressing the need for large-scale energy storage solutions, that is crucial for the successful transition to renewable energy sources. The main objective of this project was to develop and provide metrological standards and validated techniques for the storage and utilization of hydrogen. Hydrogen is increasingly recognized as an important component in the future energy system due to its ability to store and supply energy during peak demand periods when renewable sources, such as solar and wind, are not generating power. The DIN 38407-53 was technically finalized as Draft on 2024-02, further versions have been editorially revised only. The interlaboratory validation trial was carried out according to the rules set by ISO 7013. They allowed adopting validation data from a working group internal ring test if they are scientifically accepted and fulfil the requirements of ISO 7013. Twelve German and Swiss participants declared to have strictly followed the instructions given in draft DIN 38407-53. The intercomparison was organised and operated by the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing BAM in 2024. The performance characteristics for the quantification of TFA were evaluated in different water types and evaluated according to ISO 5725-2.
