Results indicate a P recovery potential of 19,000 t/a (more than 12% of the annual P demands for fertilizer production). The concentrations of Cd and U in SSA are significantly lower than in rock phosphate and thus might help to reduce possible envrionmental and health hazards. Unter Anwendung des Enzyms Candida antarctica lipase-A (CAL-A) kann dieser Prozess mit einem teilweise wässrigen Medium durchgeführt werden was prozesstechnisch einige Vorteile mit sich bringt. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Acyltransferasen ist die CAL-A nicht nur in der Lage die Alkoholyse zu katalysieren sondern auch Fettsäuren zu verestern. Dies eröffnet eine breitere Anwendung des Prozesses auf weitere Produktgruppen und Abfallströme. Es wurden Optimierungen mit modifizierten Enzymen und verschiedenen Fetten und Alkoholen vorgenommen. Des Weiteren wurden die verfahrenstechnischen Parameter optimiert und ein Scale-up auf den 0,5 Tonnen Maßstab durchgeführt. Die aus dem Prozess resultierenden Fettsäureester eignen sich als Motoren- oder Hydraulikbasisöle sowie als Metallbearbeitungsöle. Im Vergleich zu den Mineralölkosten von ca. 1,0 - 1,5 € pro kg muss bei einer Umstellung eines Hydrauliköls auf Fettsäureester (konventionell hergestellt) allerdings bei einem Preis von 3 – 5 € pro kg mit Mehrkosten bei gleichbleibendem Verbrauch gerechnet werden. We intend to adopt this approach to optimize inspection, monitoring and repair activities for offshore wind park support structures. As a first step, we simulate – in analogy to an offshore wind park – the service life performance of an inspected group of jacket-type frames. The performance is quantified in terms of the group’s system failure probability conditional on simulated inspection and repair histories. The underlying system model accounts for the structural redundancy of the frames and the interdependence among their failure events due to similar loading conditions. The model also captures stochastic dependence among the deterioration states of the frames. In this paper, a probabilistic decision analysis approach is applied to the scenario for the evaluation of target proof load in the situation where information on the bridge resistance model is lacking. In this case, the resistance model is established by proof loading and taking very basic prior knowledge into account. The decision scenario is modelled in the context of the proof load test planner who shall choose the required load level for assessment of a bridge. The choice of the load level depends on the risks due to the testing and the expected benefit gain from the test. Information acquired about the loading response from monitoring during the proof load testing is modelled by taking basis in the model uncertainty formulation. The optimal proof load level for classification of a single lane, simply supported bridge of 8m span subjected to live load from very heavy (gross weight > 80 tons) transport vehicles was calculated. The optimal proof load level was identified as leading to a positive expected benefit gain to the decision maker while also satisfying target reliability criteria for remaining service life. More and more methodologies for risk analysis quantify the consequences of these scenarios with complex models. Examples for complex models are the computational fluid dynamics model Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) and the microscopic evacuation model FDS+Evac. However, the high computational effort of complex models often limits the number of scenarios in practice. To balance this drawback, the scenarios are often simplified. Accordingly, there is a challenge to consider complex scenarios in risk analysis. To face this challenge, we improved the metamodel used in the methodology for risk analysis presented on ISTSS 2016. In general, a metamodel quickly interpolates the consequences of few scenarios simulated with the complex models to a large number of arbitrary scenarios used in risk analysis. Now, our metamodel consists of the projection array-based design, the moving least squares method, and the prediction interval to quantify the metamodel uncertainty. Additionally, we adapted the projection array-based design in two ways: the focus of the sequential refinement on regions with high metamodel uncertainties; and the combination of two experimental designs for FDS and FDS+Evac. To scrutinise the metamodel, we analysed the effects of three sequential refinement steps on the metamodel itself and on the results of risk analysis. We observed convergence in both after the second step (ten scenarios in FDS, 192 scenarios in FDS+Evac). In comparison to ISTSS 2016, we then ran 20 scenarios in FDS and 800 scenarios in FDS+Evac. Thus, we reduced the number of scenarios remarkably with the improved metamodel. In conclusion, we can now efficiently integrate complex scenarios in risk analysis. We further emphasise that the metamodel is broadly applicable on various experimental or modelling issues in fire safety engineering. The performance of DDS method depends on the physical measurement properties such as the number of sensors, sensor positions, measuring length and sensor type, measurement noise, ambient excitation and sampling frequency, as well as on the data processing algorithm including the chosen type I error for the indication threshold. The quantification of the value of Information (VoI) is an expected utility based Bayesian decision analysis method for quantifying the difference of the expected economic benefits with and without information. The (pre-)posterior probability is computed utilizing the Bayesian updating theorem for all possible indications. In concrete, sulfides are introduced by ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBFS), which is a widespread component of standard cements and which can also be utilized in the production of alkali-activated materials (AAMs). However, a knowledge gap exists concerning the compositions of pore solutions in GGBFS-containing cements, especially regarding sulfur and its various species and understanding how these sulfur species affect the surface layer and the corrosion behavior of steel in such environments. The present study employed electrochemical impedance spec¬tros-copy to study the behavior of steel in synthetic solutions representing GGBFS-containing cements and AAMs. The electrochemical behavior of steel in sulfide-containing solutions differs from that observed in ordinary Portland cement solutions, generally exhibiting lower open circuit potentials and polarization resistances in the former environments. This suggests that the criteria or standards used to assess the probability of steel corrosion in Portland cement concrete are not applicable to GGBFS-containing concrete due to differences of their pore solution compositions. The mortars with calcined clays exhibited decreased workability (slump flow), but this effect could be mitigated by employment of a conventional superplasticizer; however, compressive strength of the hardened mortar was lowered in some cases. While the kaolinitic clay generally yielded the highest strength, the performance of a brick clay could be increased by grinding to higher fineness and by mixing it with the kaolinitic clay. In search for appropriate Solutions to improve the Situation, the “LightSHIP” project was initiated, whose aims were to identify the required product specifications, to evaluate possible approaches and ultimately to develop new Building materials for East Africa. It was concluded that these materials should be produced in Africa mainiy from local raw materials; prefabricated, easily transportable construction elements are to be preferred. It is therefore reasonable to focus on artificial stones and partition boards. To be Independent of imported cement, it is suggested to make use of volcanic rocks, which are abundant in East African countries, for lime-pozzoian binders and geopolymers in the production of these construction elements. Future research activities should thus concentrate on assessment of the applicability of available volcanic rocks, the influence of their properties on the resulting binders and the design of appropriate binder-reinforcement-filler Systems. T1 - Carbonation of concrete with SCMs: a data analysis by RILEM TC 281-CCC N2 - The RILEM TC 281–CCC "Carbonation of concrete with supplementary cementitious materials" is studying the effect of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) on natural and accelerated carbonation of blended cements. In this context a large database with carbonation depths over time has been set-up with currently 910 concrete and mortar mixes, which have been tested at different curing conditions. The collected data includes information on chemical composition and physical properties of the raw materials, on mix-design, compressive strength, curing and carbonation testing conditions. Data for a large variety of binders (with up to 94 % SCMs) and mix designs (with w/b ratios ranging from 0.26 to 0.75) were collected from the literature and unpublished material testing projects. Natural carbonation was recorded for several years in many cases, and indoor as well as outdoor results are included. However, in this contribution only lab conditions are considered. Carbonation kinetics are investigated considering the binder composition and mix design. Furthermore, the accuracy of accelerated carbonation testing is evaluated. As described in literature, the w/CaOreactive-ratio is a decisive factor for carbonation resistance but curing and exposure conditions influence the results as well. Even with identical test conditions, the scatter is very large.
