Bei dieser Zündquellenart kommt es infolge eines Schlages und/oder Reibens eines Bauteils auf ein anderes zu einer Energieumwandlung. Dadurch kommt es zu einer Temperaturerhöhung an der Kontaktstelle sowie unter Umständen zu einem Abtrennvorgang kleiner Partikel erhöhter Temperatur. Sowohl die heißen Reibflächen als auch die abgetrennten Partikel stellen potentielle Zündquellen explosionsfähiger Atmosphären dar. Edelstahl ist für Geräte für die Verwendung zum bestimmungsgemäßen Gebrauch im explosionsgefährdeten Bereich insbesondere in der Chemie ein wichtiger Konstruktionswerkstoff. Die Ergebnisse des Forschungsprojektes "Entwicklung normativer Anforderungen an explosionsgeschützte nichtelektrische Geräte resultierend aus der Zündfähigkeit mechanisch erzeugter Schlagfunken (NAMES)" zeigen, dass Schlagvorgänge mit Edelstählen eine erhebliche Zündgefahr von explosionsfähigen Brenngasgemischen darstellen können. Dabei bestehen jedoch mitunter deutliche Unterschiede zwischen den verschiedenen Brenngasgemischen. Besonders hohe Zündwahrscheinlichkeiten konnten bei Brenngasgemischen mit Brenngasen der IEC-Explosionsgruppe IIC beobachtet werden, die Acetylen bzw. Wasserstoff als Brenngas enthielten. Schläge im Wasserstoff/Luft-Gemisch waren dabei jedoch bedeutend zündwirksamer. In diesem Gasgemisch konnte bei niedrigen maximalen Schlagenergien bis 60 J sogar eine mitunter höhere relative Zündhäufigkeit beobachtet werden als bei Versuchen mit unlegiertem Baustahl. More recently, we have investigated non-vegan flame retardant approaches. This paper loves to give you an insight into our ongoing projects on biogenic industrial wastes like leather, bone meal, and insects. Materials were characterized multi-methodically, flame retardant modes of action quantified, decomposition mechanism proposed, and synergisms explained. Considering the large quantities of leather waste (LW) in industrial-scale production, we underline LW as multifunctional bio-adjuvants. LW enhances the flame retardancy of poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate) (EVA) containing phosphorus flame retardants (P-FR). Products/by-products of the invertebrate and vertebrate farming, respectively, are promising bio-based adjuvants in flame retarded bio-epoxy thermosets. While the addition of bone meal yields the formation of an inorganic shield, protein-based powders from insects provide an intumescent behavior. Among these are a significant proportion of older prestressed concrete bridges. Given the lack of documentation on the reinforcing layout, such structures cannot be load rated analytically and are often subject to engineering judgement as the basis for rating. Otherwise, the typical approach for load rating such bridges is to conduct costly proof load testing and destructive probing together with making conservative assumptions. Therefore, any improvement to current practices will benefit DOTs and taxpayers alike. Accurately reconstructed 3D images of the girders to reflect the internal reinforcement could mitigate the need for costly, if not impractical, destructive testing and proof load testing, and help reduce dependency on conservative assumptions. Both the values and the validity of computed results such as failure probabilities essentially depend on the quantity and quality of the incorporated knowledge. One source of information are onsite measurements of structural or material characteristics to be modeled as basic variables in reliability assessment. The explicit use of (quantitative) measurement results in assessment requires the quantification of the quality of the measured information, i.e., the uncertainty associated with the information acquisition and processing. This uncertainty can be referred to as measurement uncertainty. Another crucial aspect is to ensure the comparability of the measurement results.This contribution attempts to outline the necessity and the advantages of measurement uncertainty calculations in modeling of measurement data-based random variables to be included in reliability assessment. It is shown, how measured data representing time-invariant characteristics, in this case non-destructively measured inner geometrical dimensions, can be transferred into measurement results that are both comparable and quality-evaluated. The calculations are based on the rules provided in the guide to the expression of uncertainty in measurement (GUM). The GUM-framework is internationally accepted in metrology and can serve as starting point for the appropriate processing of measured data to be used in assessment. In conclusion, the effects of incorporating the non-destructively measured data into reliability analysis are presented using a prestressed concrete bridge as case-study. T1 - Optimization of the content distribution of expanded natural graphite in a multilayer metal hydride bed for thermochemical heat storage N2 - The poor thermal conductivity of MH beds limits hydrogen absorption in metal hydride (MH) reactors for thermochemical heat storage. The compaction of MH powder with expanded natural graphite (ENG) is an efficient and cost-effective approach for the heat transfer enhancement of MH beds. However, the addition of ENG reduces the hydrogen storage density of the compacted composites. How to optimize the allocation of a limited amount of ENG in the MH bed has not been studied. In this study, a multilayer MH bed configuration with an ENG grade content was adopted to improve the heat transfer performance of an MH reactor for thermochemical heat storage. The effect of the ENG content gradient on the performance of the MH reactor was investigated using a mathematical model of the MH reactor. Furthermore, an optimization method based on the entransy dissipation extremum principle (EDEP) was proposed to optimize the ENG distribution in magnesium hydride (MgH2)-ENG compacts. The results showed that a larger ENG content gradient resulted in faster hydrogen absorption and better heat-discharge performance. Compared with a configuration with a uniform ENG content, the optimized configuration based on the EDEP exhibited a shorter reaction time, more uniform bed temperature distribution, and 15.33% higher gravimetric exergy-output rate. In addition, the number of optimization iterations had little effect on the optimal results, which could be obtained by implementing only one optimization iteration. The optimization results showed that more ENG should be allocated to the internal layer of the MgH2-ENG compact. The compacts were divided into three layers, and the ENG content of each layer was calculated according to the optimized configuration based on the EDEP. Using the proposed method two commercially available and three lab-made inhibitors were tested. Lab-made inhibitors based on potassium fluorosilicate and amine carboxylate showed the best performance over others. Furthermore, it is found that under an electrical potential environment beyond 3.6 V, the higher the concrete strength, the more efficient is the corrosion inhibition. Based on experimental results, a novel model describing the corrosion evolution in reinforced concrete was proposed. Due to slender cross-sections typically used for tension members, high demands are placed on the effectiveness and reliability of the intumescent coatings. This paper describes real-scale fire tests of intumescent coatings applied to steel tension members with circular solid and hollow sections. First, the current regulations for the application of intumescent coatings on steel tension members are discussed. After that, a comparison between the foaming behaviour and failure mechanisms of intumescent coatings applied to steel tension members with different cross-sections and loading conditions is given. Next, the experimental setup and procedure of the performed fire tests are presented. In addition, the influences of various parameters on the performance of the intumescent coating are analysed, including the geometry of the steel profile, dry film thickness of the intumescent coating, load utilisation level as well as the orientation of the member. Based on the theoretical considerations and results of the fire tests, it is evidenced that mechanically loaded fire tests are essential to assess accurately the contribution of intumescent fire protection coatings to the fire resistance of steel tension members with circular solid sections. To verify and examine the suitability of detonation flame arresters, a testing method originating from the DIN EN ISO 16852 standard is used, which is mainly designed for atmospheric conditions. In order to optimize the production capabilities, numerous industrial processes are taking place at pressures, temperatures, or oxygen concentrations beyond the ambient range, i.e. at non-atmospheric conditions and information on the performance of the regulated testing method are therefore required when the standard testing protocols are modified with regard to pressure, temperature or oxidizer. The main objective of this study is to develop an improved testing method for detonation flame arresters, which offers a higher reproducibility and moreover, an applicability under non-atmospheric conditions. Therefore, an interlaboratory comparison on the performance of in-line flame arresters for stable and unstable detonations is jointly conducted by the project partners (PTB, BAM, Braunschweiger Flammenfilter GmbH and IBExU GmbH). The experiments are performed according to the testing method regulated in the DIN EN ISO 16852 standard for different pressures before ignition and different explosion groups. This contribution presents an improved method for experimental determination of MEC of a combustible dust cloud or LEL of a flammable gas or hybrid mixture. The new setup operates under laminar conditions and allows a uniform suspension of dust particles in an open top acrylic glass tube. Dust concentration is measured with the help of infrared sensors installed a few centimeters above and below the ignition source. In order to evaluate the dependence of MEC on flow front velocity, MEC of lycopodium was determined at four flow velocities. The results show that the flow field intensity does not significantly influence the MEC of lycopodium for the flow ranges tested in this work. Moreover, LEL of hybrid mixtures of lycopodium and methane was also tested at flow velocities of 4.7 cm/s, 5.8 cm/s, 7 cm/s and 11 cm/s and compared with the values obtained from other sources. The results suggest that the requirement of high energy pyrotechnical igniter may be relinquished, provided that a truly homogeneous suspension of dust particles could be achieved. Moreover, the effect of relative amount of dust and gas, on the course of ignition and flame propagation in hybrid mixtures at their LEL, was studied by the help of high speed videos. For hybrid mixtures of carbonaceous dusts (like lycopodium) at their LEL, ignition occurs in the gas phase, however, flame propagation is only possible through a two-way interaction of dust and gas during the course of combustion. So far, the recordings of the velocity and acceleration response in the translation direction have been used to obtain the eigenfrequencies of structures. Recently, measurement of rotation has been used to fully characterize the dynamic behavior of structures. In this research, 6-C sensors consisting of a three-component rotational seismometer and a three-component broadband seismometer are evaluated for their suitability for bridge monitoring. Since changes in environmental conditions such as temperature during vibration recordings affect the structural evaluation results, cross-correlation function is applied here to the 6-C ambient vibration signals to reconstruct the wave propagation on the one hand, and coda wave interferometry (CWI) is applied to obtain the internal velocity variation from waveforms on the other hand. Recently the measurement of rotation has been considered to fully characterize the dynamic behavior of structures. This research undertakes the evaluation of a novel 6C sensor (IMU50-iXblue) with components originally developed for navigation for the purpose of bridge monitoring. However, as for all vibration recordings, there is a certain influence of environmental conditions (mainly temperature) which may affect evaluation and the results of structural assessment. We propose applying the cross-correlation function to the 6C ambient vibration signals to reconstruct wave propagation and using coda wave interferometry (CWI) to obtain internal velocity variation from waveforms. High speed tensile tests need to be performed on splicing systems for reinforcement bars to confirm the capability of the coupler to resist impact loading. Furthermore, the ability of the reinforcement steel to dissipate energy by ductile behaviour with pronounced plastic strains should be confirmed by these tests. During the last decades comprehensive experiences were developed at BAM performing high speed tensile tests on reinforcement bars as well as on several splicing systems. For the lack of available standards defining these tests in detail an appropriate test procedure was developed and continuously optimized during this period at BAM. The test procedure is partially based on testing principles adapted from available standards. The main intention behind this test procedure is to perform high-speed tensile tests with a specific constant strain rate generated at the specimen. Furthermore, main objective was to establish a procedure to guarantee the comparability of test results for different diameter of reinforcement as well as for different types of couplers. The preparation of hybrid mixtures containing a flammable gas and a flammable dust in the 20 L-sphere can be realized in different ways. Either the flammable gas is filled only in the sphere or only in the dust container or in both. In previous works, almost always the first method is applied, without giving any information on the accuracy of the gas mixtures. In this work the accuracy of the gas mixtures and the results of the tests applying two methods of mixing were studied. No significant influence of the mixing method itself on the safety characteristics explosion pressure pex and the normalized rate of pressure rise (K-value) was found. Obviously, homogenization of the gas mixtures can be obtained sufficiently by the turbulence that is caused during the injection from the dust container into the explosion chamber within a short time. However, the mixing procedure has a great influence on the accuracy of the gas amount of the mixtures obtained. Without modifying the 20 L-sphere by installing precise pressure sensors, assuring its tightness and performing gas analysis, it must be expected, that the accuracy of the gas mixtures is very low. This has a significant influence on the measured safety characteristics and may lead to unsafe facilities or unnecessary expensive safety measures. Conversely to polycarboxylates, polyphosphates, at a low dosage, inhibits the silicate reaction without affecting the aluminate reaction and formation of ettringite. Yet, at high doses, both reactions are hampered, and the induction period extended, followed by accelerated aluminate and silicate reactions. Aufgrund der unzureichenden Kenntnis der Präzision dieses Prüfverfahrens wurden, basierend auf dem Entwurf des FGSV-Merkblatts zur statistischen Auswertung von Prüfergebnissen, mit einem breit aufgestellten Ringversuch die statistischen Kennwerte an Labor- und Bestandsbetonen unter Vergleich- und Wiederholbedingungen ermittelt. Zur möglichst guten statistischen Absicherung nahmen an dem Ringversuch dreizehn erfahrene Prüfstellen teil, die vorab einem Audit unterzogen wurden. Zur Abdeckung des vielschichtigen Einsatzes des Prüfverfahrens erfolgte der Ringversuch an acht Prüflosen, die sowohl die Erst-/ Eignungsprüfung und Übereinstimmungskontrolle bei Neubaumaßnahmen, als auch die Restsubstanzbewertung von Betonfahrbahnplatten berücksichtigen. Zur Bewertung des Materialeinflusses wurde zusätzlich ein Prüflos mit Labormörtel untersucht. Die Probenvorbereitung erfolgte zentral an der BAM. Zur Sicherstellung einheitlicher Prüfbedingungen bei den Prüfstellen wurde zusätzlich eine detaillierte Standardarbeitsanweisung erarbeitet, die partiell bereits Eingang in das Normenwerk gefunden hat. Bei der Plausibilitätsprüfung aller prüflosspezifischen Einzelwerte der Spaltzug- und Druckfestigkeit wurden vereinzelt sowohl Ausführungsfehler als auch Übertragungs- und Tippfehler festgestellt. Der sich anschließende Lilliefors-Test zeigt, dass die ermittelten Einzelwerte bis auf wenige Aus-nahmen normalverteilt sind und damit die Voraussetzungen für die statistische Auswertung gegeben sind. Mittels grafischer Darstellung der Mandel’s h- und k-Werte wurden die Auffälligkeiten hinsichtlich der Mittelwerte und Varianzen prüflosspezifisch für die einzelnen Prüfstellen visualisiert und anschließend einige von ihnen mittels Grubbs- und Cochran-Test als Ausreißer identifiziert. Nach Ausreißerelimination wurde mit dem klassischen Verfahren bei der Spaltzugfestigkeit der geringste Variationskoeffizient unter Vergleich- und Wiederholbedingungen bei der Erst-/Eignungsprüfung mit 6,2 und 6,4 Prozent ermittelt. Bei einer Verminderung des Materialeinflusses durch die Verwendung eines Labormörtels verbessern sich die statistischen Kennwerte auf 4,5 und 5,3 Prozent. Mit 8,2 und 9,5 Prozent beziehungsweise 8,6 und 9,5 Prozent werden bei der Restsubstanzbewertung von Wasch- und Unterbetonen die höchsten Werte bestimmt. Das robuste Auswerteverfahren (ohne Eliminierung der Ausreißer) nach dem Entwurf des FGSV-Merkblatts zur statistischen Auswertung von Prüfergebnissen erwies sich in der Form als ungeeignet und bedurfte einer Überarbeitung. Bezüglich der vergleichend mit klassischen und robusten Verfahren gewonnenen Kennwerte ist festzustellen, dass bei sehr homogenen Messergebnissen eines Prüfloses beide Verfahren nahezu die gleichen statistischen Kennwerte liefern. Bei der Eliminierung von Ausreißern sind die Ergebnisse des robusten Verfahrens in der Regel etwas größer als die des klassischen Verfahrens. Die begleitenden vertiefenden Untersuchungen bei der Spaltzugprüfung mit innovativen Prüftechniken lieferten wertvolle Erkenntnisse zur Bewertung der Prüfeinflüsse. N2 - The computational design of concrete pavements according to the requirements of the RDO-Beton 09 requires the splitting tensile strength to be determined according to specifications of the AL Sp-Beton. However, detailed information on the precision of the described test procedure is missing. Therefore, a round robin test was set up in order to determine the statistical parameters of the prescribed splitting tensile strength test on laboratory concrete and cores extracted from concrete pavements in terms of repeatability and reproducibility. 13 testing institutes have been involved in the round robin test to guarantee a representative coverage of the sector. The selected testing institutes have been audited prior the round robin test in order to ensure their capabilities. The round robin test was divided into 8 testing lots for covering the broad field of possible applications. Thereby, the testing lots cover both the initial testing of concrete and quality control of new construction. The latter case implies also the assessment of existing concrete pavements. Additionally, a cementitious mortar was designed in order to consider the influence of the material, such as maximum grain size, on the test procedure. The samples were prepared at BAM to guarantee a uniform sample preparation. Furthermore, a standard operating procedure was prepared to assure constant test conditions at the testing institutes. This standard operating procedure is already partly considered by the corresponding standard. A revision of the data reported by the testing institutes revealed that execution errors, transcription errors as well as typing errors occurred. However, a Lilliefors-Test was conducted to verify the Gaussian distribution of the reported test data and to allow the further statistical analysis. Only view data sets do not follow a Gaussian distribution, has no remarkable influence on the obtained statistical data. By means of the graphical illustration of Mandel’s h- and k-values, abnormalities of the arithmetic mean and variance are depicted. These apparent abnormalities can be identified as outliers using the Grubbs and Cochran test. After eliminating the identified outliers, the corresponding statistical parameters have been determined using the classical method for data analysis. The lowest coefficient of variation that was determined for the splitting tensile strength by using the classical method for assessment of the repeatability and reproducibility of the test procedure amounts to 6.2 and 6.4%, respectively, for the initial testing of concrete. Reducing the material influence by using a cementitious mortar, the corresponding statistical parameters were reduced to 4.5 and 5.3%. On the contrary, the highest statistical values were obtained for the assessment of existing concrete pavements. Here, values of 8.2 and 9.5% were obtained for the exposed aggregate concrete and 8.6 and 9.5% for the subconcrete, respectively. The robust method for data analysis (without elimination of outliers) according to the draft version of the technical bulletin of the FGSV turned out to be inappropriate and required, therefore, a revision. Comparing the statistical parameters obtained by the classical and robust method used for data analysis it can be stated that both methods result in nearly identical values for homogeneous data sets without outliers. Considering outliers in the existing data sets, the statistical parameters obtained by the robust method are slightly higher than the values obtained by the classical method with elimination of outliers. The additional investigations on the splitting tensile strength using innovative test procedures provided valuable findings for the assessment of test results. Als Ursache wurde das Versagen eines signifikanten Anteils der Spanndrähte der konzentrierten Spannglieder vermutet. Die Brücke wurde umgehend für den Verkehr gesperrt und nach weiteren, umfassenden Untersuchungen im Mai 2021 abgebrochen. Um die Sicherheit des unter der Brücke geführten Verkehrs zu gewährleisten, wurde die Brücke unter anderem mit einem Schallemissionsmesssystem überwacht. Mit diesem Verfahren ist es möglich, Spanndrahtbrüche zuverlässig zu detektieren und zu lokalisieren. In dem gut einjährigen Überwachungszeitraum wurden mehr als einhundert Spanndrahtbrüche detektiert, die in einigen Bereichen der Brücke besonders konzentriert auftraten. Vor dem Abbruch der Brücke war es möglich, den Nachweis der Detektion von Spanndrahtbrüchen mit der Schallemissionsanalyse und ihre Ortungsgenauigkeit anhand von künstlich erzeugten Drahtbrüchen zu validieren. Weiterhin konnte das sichtbare Schadensbild, Längsrisse und Hohlstellen über den Spannkanälen, auf die lokale Schädigung der Spanndrähte zurückgeführt werden. Derzeit wird ein Merkblatt erarbeitet, in dem die Erfahrungen in der bisherigen Anwendung der Schallemissionsanalyse zum Monitoring von Spanndrahtbrüchen zusammengefasst werden. In diesem Beitrag werden die Grundlagen der Schallemissionsanalyse und die Ergebnisse der Validierungsversuche an der Brücke in Brandenburg dargestellt. Both mixtures had the same composition except the type of aggregate. One mixture contained only quartzitic aggregates, whereas the other mixture was made with basalt grit as coarse aggregates. Applied steel rings restrained the thermal expansion of the specimen and prevented the loss of water, whereas applied steel sheet primarily reduced the loss of water during the fire test. Additionally, the fire exposed surface of one specimen of each mixture was pre-dried under controlled climate conditions and fire tested with applied steel rings. The results show a higher spalling volume for the ring restrained specimens compared to the other covering types. Further, the pre-dried boundary zone leads to delayed and decreased occurrence of spalling compared to the non-dried specimens for the concrete with quartzitic aggregates and to a prevention of spalling for the mixture with basalt aggregates. Mit Blick auf die primäre Form der Speicherung wird der Begriff der Sicherheit über den Aspekt der Häufigkeit eines definierten Ereignisses erläutert und auf die Besonderheiten der Druckgefäße aus Verbundwerkstoffen hingewiesen, wie auch den regulatorischen Hintergrund der Lebensdauerüberprüfung nach 15 Jahren nach den Vorgaben der zuständigen Behörde. In Deutschland sind diese Vorgaben in der BAM-Gefahrgutregel 021 geregelt, die in der GGR 022 durch eine Regelung zur Wiederkehrenden Prüfung dieser Umschließungen ergänzt wird. Beide BAM-Gefahrgutregeln basieren auf einem probabilistischen Ansatz und einer Konsequenzabschätzung über das Druck-Volumen-Produkt der Druckgefäße. Die neu im Recht verankerte EN 17339 ist die erste Norm, die speziell fest montierte Compositespeicher für den Wasserstofftransport regelt. Sie ermöglicht eine erhebliche Gewichtreduktion und führt eine Obergrenze für das Druckvolumen ein. Es wird kurz erläutert, dass gerade mit Blick auf Wasserstofftransporte über eine Arbeitsgruppe der Vereinten Nationen eine Begrenzung des Konsequenzpotentials in das internationale Recht eingeführt werden soll und welche Kriterien bei der systematischen Ermittlung des akzeptierten Wertes von 1.5 Mio bar Liter Einfluss haben. Mit Blick auf die Energiewende sieht es die BAM als besonders wichtig an, die Transportkosten zu senken, indem der Prüfaufwand reduziert und gleichzeitig die Erkenntnistiefe aus der betrieblichen Überwachung verbessert wird. T1 - Simulation of the burning and dripping cables in fire using the particle finite element method N2 - The behavior of the cable jacket in fire characterized by the tendency to melt and drip constitutes a major source of fire hazard. The reason is that the melted material may convey the flame from one point to another, expanding fire and contributing to the fire load. In this article, the capability of a new computational strategy based on the particle finite element method for simulating a bench-scale cables burning test is analyzed. The use bench-scale test has been previously used to simulate the full-scale test described in EN 50399. As the air effect is neglected, a simple combustion model is included. The samples selected are two cables consisting of a copper core and differently flame retarded thermoplastic polyurethane sheets. The key modeling parameters were determined from different literature sources as well as experimentally. During the experiment, the specimen was burned under the test set-up condition recording the process and measuring the temperature evolution by means of three thermocouples. Next, the test was reproduced numerically and compared with a real fire test. The numerical results show that the particle finite element method can accurately predict the evolution of the temperature and the melting of the jacket. It evaluates a subspacebased residual function with efficient hypothesis testing tools, and has the ability of detecting small changes in chosen system parameters. In the residual function, a Hankel matrix of Output covariances estimated from test data is confronted to its left null space associated to a reference model. The hypothesis test takes into account the covariance of the residual for decision making. Ideally, the reference model is assumed to be perfectly known without any uncertainty, which is not a realistic assumption. In practice, the left null space is usually estimated from a reference data set to avoid model errors in the residual computation. Then, the associated uncertainties may be non-negligible, in particular when the available reference data is of limited length. In this paper, it is investigated how the statistical distribution of the residual is affected when the reference null space is estimated. The asymptotic residual distribution is derived, where its refined covariance term considers also the uncertainty related to the reference null space estimate. The associated damage detection test closes a theoretical gap for real-world applications and leads to increased robustness of the method in practice. The importance of including the estimation uncertainty of the reference null space is shown in a numerical study and on experimental data of a progressively damaged steel frame. Für die Auslegung des Monitoringsystems sowie zur Unterstützung der Untersuchung des Schädigungsprozesses wurde ein numerisches Modell erstellt und in Bezug auf die gemessenen Antworten des Tragwerks kalibriert. Liquefied gases of great importance to the energy transition are Liquefied Hydrogen (LH2) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), which can be liquefied at temperatures below 160°C. Systems for storing these gases typically must be overpressure resistant and require thermal super insulations (TSI) to hold cryogenic conditions and minimize boil-off losses from evaporation. TSI with vacuum and MLI or perlites are suitable for many applications involving LNG and LH2. Such systems are typically double-walled structures where the inner wall is in contact with the cryogenic liquefied gas. MLI or perlites are located in the gap between the inner and the outer wall, that is kept under vacuum conditions. This combination of insulations strongly reduces the heat transfer between the environment and the cryogenic liquefied gas. From an economic point of view the systems are well sophisticated. However, knowledge of the behavior of this kind of systems in a typical event such as a fire is limited, but necessary to evaluate the safety of the increasing number of applications. The objective of the research is to determine how TSI behaves at different fire temperatures during fire exposure and afterwards. Special attention is paid to changes in the heat flux, the material properties and vacuum state over time. For this purpose, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) studies have been carried out. In addition, a test rig was developed that allows testing of TSI at temperatures up to 1000°C under realistic integration conditions and subsequent analysis of the TSI samples. In the test rig the double-wall with vacuum and MLI or perlites inside is simulated. The fire conditions are simulated on one side of the double-wall by adjustable electrical heating elements. This process allows the implementation of repeatable heat flows of up to 100 kW/m². On the other side of the double-wall, cold or cryogenic conditions are simulated with a heat exchanger through which water or the vapor of liquid nitrogen (approx. -196°C) flows. The heat exchanger is also used to determine the heat flux through the double-wall. Thus, the test rig allows thermal loading and performance analysis of TSI samples at the same time. Compared to tests with real cryogenic systems, tests with this experimental setup have the advantage that, first, the instrumentation is easier to realize, and a higher repeatability is ensured. Second, the local heat flow can be determined over time, and the sample of a TSI can be taken non-destructively and thus analyzed. Third, the tests are less risky as well as time+ and material intensive, so that more tests and variants can be investigated with the same budget. Preliminary results obtained considering several types of MLI under vacuum show that all observed typs of MLI can be damaged under strong thermal loading. The damages observed were outgassing, melting, shrinkage, cracking, lump formation, and concomitant local loss of the MLI's function as a radiation shield. However, the study also shows that a damage does not always have an extreme effect on the insulating performance. In this work, a prospectively abundant proteinrich waste resource for the manufacturing of flame-retardant epoxy biocomposites, as well as for the synthesis of biobased flame retardants or adjuvants, is introduced. Different biomass fillers sourced from the cultivation of the mealworm beetle Tenebrio molitor are embedded in a bioepoxy resin cured with tannic acid and investigated regarding the fire performance of the thermosets. By means of spectroscopic and thermal analysis (attenuated total reflectance FTIR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis-coupled FTIR spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry), the influence of the biomass microparticles on the curing and thermal degradation behavior is evaluated. The final performance of the biocomposites is assessed based on fire testing methodology (limited oxygen index, UL-94, and cone calorimetry). Providing a high charring efficiency in the specific tannic acid-based epoxy matrix, the protein-rich adult beetle is further investigated in combination with commercial environmentally benign flame retardants in view of its potential as an adjuvant. The results highlight a char forming effect of nonvegan fillers in the presence of tannic acid, particularly during thermal decomposition, and point toward the potential of protein-based flame retardants from industrial insect rearing for future formulations. When externally discernible damages are observed during visual inspections on the structure, the extent of the damage inside the concrete is often already significant. Corrosion caused by carbonation often leads to severe discoloration of the surface or even large-area spalling of the concrete cover. In contrast, chloride-induced corrosion is usually difficult to observe visually but can cause much more serious damage in less time. The effect occurs locally and can lead to weakening of the cross-section of the reinforce-ment. This, in turn, can cause sudden structural collapses without prior notice. In the meanwhile, various non-destructive and minimally invasive testing methods are available to evaluate the resistance to penetration of corrosion-pro-moting pollutants and to detect active corrosion. In this paper, a bridge crossing the river Regen is used as a case-study to demonstrate how the information ob-tained applying different testing methods can be combined and evaluated in the context of structural reassessments. Both the results of the permeability testing and the electrical resistance measurement are considered, as well as active corro-sion areas are localized using the half-cell potential mapping combined with the concrete cover measurement with the eddy current method and ground penetrat-ing radar. The results are evaluated using drill cores and in addition laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy was applied to obtain information about possible chlo-ride ion transport into the concrete. However, the influence of the molecular structure of the polyphosphate polymers on time-dependent properties such as structural build-up has not been examined yet intensively. To investigate this effect, three comb polyphosphate superplasticizers with different charge densities were synthesised by free radical polymerisation. Our findings indicate that SP with the lowest and medium charge densities extend the induction period more strongly than the SP with the highest charge density. The reduction of the structural build-up rate is linearly dependent on the dosage and concentration of the functional group of polyphosphate SP in the cementitious system. This study proposes a mathematical equation expressing the relationship between the structural build-up rate during the induction period and the molecular structure of the polyphosphate SP. To date, their hydration mechanism and the phase formation at various temperatures is insufficiently understood, partly due to the large variability of the raw materials used. In the present study, three hybrid cements based on ground granulated blast furnace slag, fly ash, Portland clinker and sodium sulfate, and an alkali-activated slag/fly ash blend were cured at 10 and 21.5°C, and subsequently analyzed by XRD, 27Al MAS NMR, and TGA. The compressive strength of the hybrid cements was higher by up to 27% after 91-day curing at 10°C, compared to curing at 21.5°C. The experimental results as well as thermodynamic modeling indicate that the differences in compressive strength were related to a different phase assemblage, mainly differing amounts of strätlingite and C-N-A-S-H, and the associated differences of the volume of hydration products. While the strätlingite was amorphous to X-rays, it could be identified by 27Al MAS NMR spectroscopy, TGA and thermodynamic modeling. The microstructural properties of the hybrid cements and the alkali-activated slag/fly ash blend as well as the compatibility between thermodynamic modeling results and experimental data as a function of curing temperature and time are discussed. Understanding how this energy is absorbed and ultimately causes a chemical transformation is essential for understanding the elementary stages of mechanochemical transformations. Using as a model system the energetic material LiN3 we here consider how vibrational energy flows through the crystal structure. By considering the compression response of the crystalline material we identify the partitioning of energy into an initial vibrational excitation. Subsequent energy flow is based on concepts of phonon–phonon scattering, which we calculate within a quasi-equilibrium model facilitated by phonon scattering data obtained from Density Functional Theory (DFT). Using this model we demonstrate how the moments (picoseconds) immediately following mechanical impact lead to significant thermal excitation of crystalline LiN3, sufficient to drive marked changes in its electronic structure and hence chemical reactivity. This work paves the way towards an ab initio approach to studying elementary processes in mechanochemical reactions involving crystalline solids. The most important and most accepted excitation are the dynamic wheel loads from the passage over track irregularities. Dynamic wheel loads will be compared from parallel axle-box and ground vibration measurements at more than seven sites. Some low-frequency excitation of ground vibrations, typically between 10 and 30 Hz, cannot be found in the axle-box measurements. Therefore, other vehicle modes, such as rigid bogie modes, flexible carriage modes, rigid and flexible wheelset modes, have been analysed for additional excitation forces. These vehicle dynamics analyses give an explanation for higher axle-box results at high frequencies, but not for the excitation of the higher low-frequency ground-vibration component. Finally, the effect of the moving static train loads will be analysed. For a regular track and soil, the moving static train loads yield the quasi-static response which exists only in the low-frequency nearfield of the track. If the support stiffness is randomly varying along the track, the pulses on the track generate an additional low-frequency component which is called the irregular pulse responses. This component will be demonstrated by numerical analysis where all axle pulses are superposed in frequency domain. It first presents results about the influence of the penetrating shape’s geometry on the influence on the cement paste specimen. Then, results are shown for the load-deflection curves depending upon time and agitation before testing. Based on the observation of the force required to penetrate the sample, conclusions on the structural build-up can be made. The observations were made over the course of time with samples that were left at rest and partly agitated before testing at different time steps. The setup allows to identify the contribution of the chemical reaction to the structural build-up process. Im Ergebnis der ausgewerteten Messungen sowie strukturdynamischer Berechnungen zeigte sich, dass der Baugrund zwar aus statischer Sicht sehr gut tragfähig, aber dynamisch als eher ungünstig zu beurteilen ist. Weiterhin wurde festgestellt, dass in dynamischer Hinsicht ein vorgenommener Bodenaustausch tendenziell eine Verschlechterung der Aufstellbedingungen darstellte. Für das betroffene Bürogebäude konnte nachgewiesen werden, dass durch den Betrieb der Zementmühle die Anregung der Deckeneigenfrequenzen zu deutlich spürbaren Resonanzschwingungen führte. Aufgrund der tieffrequenten Anregung durch den Mühlenbetrieb sind Maßnahmen zur Minderung der Schwingungsemissionen generell und insbesondere nach erfolgter Aufstellung der Mühle schwer bzw. gar nicht zu realisieren. Especially precast concrete elements are frequently utilized in construction projects for standardized applications, increasing the quality of the composite material, as well as reducing the required building time. Despite the accumulated knowledge, continuous research and development in this field is essential due to the complexity of the composite combined with the ever-growing number of applications and requirements. Especially in view of global climate change, design aspects as CO2 emissions and resource efficiency require new mix designs and optimization strategies. A result of the material’s high complexity and heterogeneity on multiple scales is that utilizing the full potential with changing demands is highly challenging, even for the established industry. We propose a framework based on an ontology, which automatically combines experimental data with numerical simulations. This not only simplifies experimental knowledge transfer, but allows the model calibration and the resulting simulation predictions to be reproducible and interpretable. This research shows a way towards a more performance oriented material design. Within this talk we present our workflow for an automated simulation of a precast element, demonstrating the interaction of the ontology and the finite element simulation. In addition to an optimized set of parameters, this setup allows to study the quality and uncertainty of the data and models, as well as giving information about optimal experiments to improve the data set. All investigations were based on a generic “CCS cluster scenario” in which CO2 streams captured from a spatial cluster of eleven emitters (seven fossil-fired power plants, two cement plants, one refinery and one steel mill) are collected in a regional pipeline network. The resulting CO2 stream (19.78 Mio t impure CO2 per year) is transported in a trunk line (onshore and offshore) and injected into five generic replicate storage structures (Buntsandstein saline aquifers) offshore. Experimental investigations and modeling of selected impacts revealed beneficial as well as adverse impacts of different impurities and their combinations. Overall, no fundamental technical obstacles for transporting, injecting and storing CO2 streams of the considered variable compositions and mass flow rates were observed. We recommend to define minimum composition thresholds for each specific CCS project through limiting i) the overall CO2 content, ii) maximum contents of relevant impurities or elements, iii) acceptable variability of concentrations of critical impurities, and defining impurity combinations to be avoided. Possible scenarios are therefore analyzed and evaluated in advance for approval issues. There is a trend, where simple empirical models are being replaced with more complex numerical models. Gaussian dispersion models or models based on dimensional analysis approaches are for example, increasingly replaced by CFD simulations. The main reason for this is the potentially higher accuracy. However, usually scenarios using sharp parameter values are calculated, since comprehensive consideration of parameter distributions via Monte Carlo or Latin Hypercube Sampling fails due to the numerical effort. This includes the risk that the influence of uncertainties on the simulation results is not taken into account. Response surface methods offer an alternative, with which the CFD problem can be mapped onto an algebraic surrogate model. If this is sufficiently precise, parameter sampling can also be carried out with the surrogate as well, as shown in some publications. Previous investigations only demonstrated the basic principle using trivial dispersion models. In this paper two realistic CFD simulations from the plant safety area are considered: VOC emissions from a storage tank and near-ground dense gas emissions. The entire procedure of response surface determination and parameter studies was automated and parallelized for high-performance-computing, and is carried out on the underlying CFD grids. For the CFD simulations as well as for all visualizations, the commercial software ANSYS CFX and the open source software OpenFOAM were used. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the method using industry-relevant applications as well as to show how this can be used in practical engineering applications. The quality of surrogate modeling, the numerical effort and advantages that can result from the procedure are discussed as well as advantages which may result from taking parameter uncertainties into account in safety studies. Zoological products like insects, bone meal, and eggshells are available in large quantities, but remain uninvestigated as functional fillers to epoxy resins, although they are potential synergists to flame retardants. The efficacy and flame retardancy of “non-vegan” additives in combination with flame retardants is investigated and the fire behavior and thermal decomposition of bio-sourced epoxy resin composites is characterized. By comparing the fire performance of composites containing flame retardants or fillers at varying loadings (5, 10, and 20%), their role as synergists that enhance the function of organophosphorus flame retardants in bio-epoxy composites is identified and quantified. Peak heat release rates were 44% lower in composites containing both filler and flame retardant versus those containing only flame retardants, and fire loads were reduced by 44% versus the pure resin, highlighting the ability of “non-vegan” fillers to function as synergists. T1 - Variational Bayesian inference of damage in concrete material using spatially-dense data N2 - Numerical simulators, such as finite element models, have become increasingly capable of predicting the behaviour of structures and components owing to more sophisticated underlying mathematical models and advanced computing power. A common challenge lies, however, in calibrating these models in terms of their unknown/uncertain parameters. When measurements exist, this can be achieved by comparing the model response against measured data. Besides uncertain model parameters, phenomena like damage can give rise to further uncertainties; in particular, quasi-brittle materials, like concrete, experience damage in a heterogeneous manner due to various imperfections, e.g. in geometry and boundary conditions. This hardens an accurate prediction of the damaged behaviour of real structures that comprise such materials. In this study, which draws from a data-driven approach, we use the force-version of the finite element model updating method (FEMU-F) to incorporate measured displacements into the identification of the damage parameters, in order to cope with heterogeneity. In this method, instead of conducting a forward evaluation of the model and comparing the model response (displacements) against the data, we impose displacements to the model and compare the resulting force residuals with measured reaction forces. To account for uncertainties in the measurement of displacements, we endow this approach with a penalty term, which reflects the discrepancy between measured and imposed displacements, where the latter is assumed as unknown random variables to be identified as well. A Variational Bayesian approach is used as an approximating tool for computing posterior parameters. The underlying damage model considered in this work is a gradient-enhanced damage model. We first establish the identification procedure through two virtual examples, where synthetic data (displacements) are generated over a certain spatially-dense set of points over the domain. As the mechanisms of action of VMAs in cement-based materials are closely related to their affinity with the surface of cement particles, the adsorption of the main VMA types is discussed. The effect of VMAs on flow properties and stability of cement-based materials is presented for VMAs added without any superplasticizer, and then in systems incorporating both VMAs and superplasticizers. This paper presents and validates 3D FE/PML numerical schemes based on two different PML formulations for homogeneous and inhomogeneous geological media exhibiting discrete or continuous inhomogeneity. In the equation of motion for the PML domain the applied stretching behavior is expressed either as complex material properties or as complex coordinates. Both PML formulations are implemented in the FEM and verified against analytical solutions. Three different types of material inhomogeneity are considered: layered half-space, continuously inhomogeneous half-space with linear velocity profile and continuously inhomogeneous half-space with nonlinear velocity profile. Sensitivity analyses are conducted, and the performance of the developed numerical schemes is investigated taking into account a broad variation of the PML parameters. Recommendations are given for the optimal values of the PML parameters for the case of homogeneous and inhomogeneous geological media. Sie beruht auf den Greenschen Funktionen (Punktlastlösungen) für inhomogene Böden. Diese Lösungen können auch für die Wellenausbreitung in der Tiefe, zum Beispiel von einem Bahntunnel zu einem eingebetteten Gebäude, dem Kellergeschoss benutzt werden. Die Punktlastlösungen in der Tiefe werden mit der Halbraumlösung an der Bodenoberfläche und mit der Vollraumlösung verglichen und Gesetzmäßigkeiten für geschichtete Böden abgeleitet. Zu den Pfahlgründungen werden die Horizontalnachgiebigkeiten von Pfählen in geschichteten Böden dargestellt. Für den homogenen und den kontinuierlich steifer werdenden Boden werden Potenzgesetze für den Boden- und Pfahleinfluss aufgestellt. Der Vergleich mit dem Winkler-Modell der rein lokalen Bodenreaktion zeigt, dass die Winkler-Bettung in allen Fällen einen zu kleinen Bodeneinfluss ergibt. T2 - 7. Die Neuausgabe berücksichtigt die aktuellen Anforderungen durch die Europäische Normung bezüglich der Polymerbitumen-Schweißbahnen. Weitere Änderungen zur Vorgängerausgabe von 2003 wurden notwendig durch die Neuauflagen weiterer FGSV-Regelwerke, insbesondere der TL Bitumen-StB (FGSV 794), der ZTV Fug-StB (FGSV 897/1), der TL Fug-StB (FGSV 897/2), der TP Asphalt-StB (FGSV 756) und der E KvB (FGSV 727). Die ZTV-ING Teil 7 Abschnitt 1 führt insbesondere aus zu den Grundlagen des Brückenbelages, zur Ausführung und Qualitätssicherung sowie zur Herstellung unmittelbar auf Trog- und Tunnelsohlen aus Beton. Der Anhang enthält die „Vorgaben für die Prüfungen während der Bauausführung“ sowie das Formblatt „Protokoll über die Entnahme von Rückstellproben“ und eine tabellarische Zusammenstellung über „Art und Umfang sowie Anforderungen und Toleranzen für die Baustoffeinangsprüfungen“. Das Bundesverkehrsministerium hat mit seinem ARS 23/2021 zur Fortschreibung der ZTV-ING die Neuausgabe der Teils 7 Abschnitt 1 bekannt gemacht.
