This paper surveys materials concepts of related glass ceramic composites (GCC) and discusses unsolved problems and challenges. The densification of GCC based on "viscous sintering" may be affected by steric effects and partial dissolution of dispersed crystal particles, crystallization and phase boundary reactions.
