Based on its different hydrogen-bond donor and acceptor groups, theophylline is an ideal candidate for the formation of cocrystals. The crystal structure of the 1:1 benzamide cocrystal of theophylline, C7H8N4O2·-C7H7NO, was determined from synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data. The compound crystallizes in the tetragonal space group P41 with four Independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. The molecules form a hunter’s fence packing. The crystal structure was confirmed by dispersion-corrected DFT calculations. The possibility of salt formation was excluded by the results of Raman and 1H solid-state NMR spectroscopic analyses. Die Überwachung mit Schallemission liefert eine Aussage über die Anzahl von Spanndrahtbrüchen innerhalb des Überwachungszeitraumes und innerhalb der Reichweite der installierten Sensoren. Mit dem Verfahren können die Spanndrahtbrüche lokalisiert werden. Auf Basis einer weitgehend automatisierten Datenanalyse stehen Informationen über Drahtbrüche kurzfristig nach dem Ereignis zur Verfügung. Der Anwendungsbereich des Dokuments umfasst Brücken- und Ingenieurbauwerke mit Spanndrähten mit sofortigem oder nachträglichem Verbund. Spannsysteme ohne Verbund fallen nicht in den Anwendungsbereich. Die beschriebenen Verfahren können auf Spannsysteme ohne Verbund übertragen werden. Mit dem Verfahren Schallemissionsanalyse ist es nicht möglich, Spanndrahtbrüche zu finden, die vor dem Beginn der Überwachung entstanden sind. With ALD good film quality, accurate thickness control and conformity are reached. Furthermore, ALD is capable of coating difficult substrates such as nanostructured surfaces with the same accuracy as flat surfaces. A variety of materials such as Al2O3, TiO2 and HfO2 demonstrate good surface passivation quality both for front and rear surface of silicon solar cells. In addition of providing good surface passivation, thin films with high refractive index e.g. HfO2, TiO2 and AlN can act simultaneously as antireflection coatings when applied on the front surface of the device. Hence, ALD thin films can reduce both electrical and reflective losses in solar cells. Thorough investigation of the optical properties of these layers is crucial for several reasons related to their production and use. Optical measurements provide a fast, easy, non-destructive, and in situ capable approach to quality assurance for photovoltaic devices. As the function of the final device is optical, optimisation of the device performance relies strongly on the knowledge of the wide-range dielectric function of the thin layers. In this contribution, we determined the optical constants of ALD generated layers of AlN, Al2O3, TiO2, and HfO2 in a wide spectral range covering the near ultraviolet and the mid-infrared regions by means of spectroscopic ellipsometry. By combining data from a UV-Vis-NIR ellipsometer (Woollam M2000DI) and an FTIR ellipsometer (Sentech Sendira), we can determine the optical constants alongside with the layer thicknesses from one large set of spectroscopic measurements. We consider this a contribution to the metrological treatment of stratified and structured thin films in the optical range by polarisation-sensitive measurement methods. In this work we investigated the commercial product by liquid chromatography-solid phase extraction-nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy-mass spectrometry (LC-SPE-NMR/MS). The commercial product was separated into 17 fractions by liquid chromatography (LC). After chromatographic separation, 5% of the flow was split to a mass spectrometer (MS) while 95% was send to post-column solid phase extraction cartridges for enrichment of the analytes (LC-SPE). After elution from the SPE-cartridges a NMR-spectrometer equipped with a cryo-probe was used for the characterisation of the different LASs species. For the first time H-1-1D and H-H-COSY spectra for 14 LASs species out of 20 major isomers are presented, whereas the 6 remaining species are detected as mixtures in 3 H-1-1D and H-H-COSY spectra. We propose a combined thermodynamic approach for the estimation of preferential binding modes along with corresponding free energy differences using a linear interaction energy (LIE) ansatz. The LIE model is extended by a Monte Carlo approach for the computation of conformational entropies as recently developed by our group. Incorporating the entropy contribution substantially increased the correlation with experimental affinity values. Both squared coefficients for the fitted data as well as the more meaningful leave-one-out cross-validation of predicted energies were elevated up to rFit2 = 0.87 and qLOO2 = 0.82, respectively. All calculations have been performed on a set of 31 highly diverse ligands regarding their structural properties and affinities to the estrogen receptor alpha. Although high potentials and rate performance can be expected, only a few examples of p-type COFs have been reported for charge storage to date with even fewer examples on the use of COFs in multivalent ion batteries. Herein, we report the synthesis of a p-type highly porous and crystalline azatruxene-based COF and its application as a positive electrode material in Li- and Mg-based batteries. When this material is used in Li-based half cells as a COF/carbon nanotube (CNT) electrode, a discharge potential of 3.9 V is obtained with discharge capacities of up to 70 mAh g−1 at a 2 C rate. In Mg batteries using a tetrakis(hexafluoroisopropyloxy)borate electrolyte, cycling proceeds with an averge discharge voltage of 2.9 V. Even at a fast current rate of 5 C, the capacity retention amounts to 84% over 1000 cycles. Helical wrapping of the sensing fiber directly around the pipeline is used to increase the system sensitivity for detection of weak leak-induced vibrations. DAS measurements are supplemented with reference accelerometer data to facilitate analysis and interpretation of recorded vibration signals. The results reveal that a DAS system using direct fiber application approach is capable of detecting pipeline natural vibrations excited by the broadband noise generated by the leaking medium. In the performed experiment, pipeline vibration modes with acceleration magnitudes down to single ug were detected. Simple leak detection approach based on spectral integration of time-averaged DAS signals in frequency domain was proposed. Potential benefits and limitations of the presented monitoring Approach were discussed with respect to its practical applicability. We demonstrated that the approached is potentially capable of detection and localization of gas pipeline leaks with leak rates down to 0.1% of the pipeline flow volume and might be of interest for monitoring of short- and medium-length gas pipelines. A1 - Loechner, Derek A1 - Drousch, Björn T1 - Sicherheitstechnische Bewertung thermischer Betriebsbelastung auf sicherheitskritische Ausrüstung am Beispiel von Composite-Atemluftflaschen und Lithiumbatterien N2 - Ziel des Vorhabens war es, den Einfluss der realen Temperaturbelastung auf Atemschutzflaschen und Lithiumbatterien in Funkgeräten (FG) im Löscheinsatz von Rettungskräften zu ermitteln und deren Auswirkung auf die Alterung und Lebensdauer sowie die potenziellen Gesundheitsgefahren bei deren Nutzung besser beurteilen zu können und Handlungshilfen abzuleiten. Im Rahmen dieses Vorhabens wurden zum einen unterschiedlich thermisch gealterte Composite-Atemluftflaschen systematisch hinsichtlich ihrer Restfestigkeiten untersucht. Zum anderen wurden Lithiumbatterien aus FG hinsichtlich der Einwirkung von kritischen Temperaturen untersucht, ab denen es zu einem thermischen Durchgehen der Batterien kommen kann. Für diese beiden wichtigen Komponenten, Lithiumbatterien und Composite-Atemluftflaschen, wurden kritische Temperatur-Zeit-Profile ermittelt, die Auswirkungen durch geeignete Methodiken untersucht und die sich ergebenden Gefährdungen für den Träger bewertet. Als Methodische Vorgehensweise wurden durch Realversuche die tatsächlichen und zuvor durch Literatur-recherche ermittelten Temperaturprofile verifiziert und auf deren Grundlage die Laborbelastungen abgeleitet. Um den Eigenschaften der aus Faserverbundwerkstoffen hergestellten Composite-Atemluftflaschen Rechnung zu tragen, wurden an zwei repräsentativen Baumustern unterschiedlicher Hersteller Stichprobengruppen unterschiedlicher thermischer Belastung ausgesetzt und hinsichtlich ihrer verbleibenden Restfestigkeitsabnahme geprüft und mit thermisch unbelasteten Baumustern verglichen. Neben den statischen Berstversuchen wurden auch kombinierte Alterungs- und Restfestigkeitsuntersuchungen an zyklisch belasteten Behältern durchgeführt. Die FG wurden thermisch sowohl statischen als auch zyklischen Belastungen ausgesetzt und mit Kapazitätsmessungen begleitet. Die statischen Versuche dienten dem Zweck, die maximale thermische Belastbarkeit der Akkus zu ermitteln, bei der noch kein Versagen auftritt. Bei den zyklischen Versuchen wurde der Temperaturverlauf bei Löscheinsätzen so nah wie möglich im Labor nachgestellt. Hierbei wurden die Akkus wiederholt einem Belastungsprofil mit konstanter Temperatur ausgesetzt und nach einigen Intervallen die Restkapazitäten am Akku gemessen und so die Degradation bestimmt. Als Fazit der im Rahmen dieses Vorhabens durchgeführten Untersuchungen an zwei repräsentativen Baumustern von Atemschutzflaschen kann gefolgert werden, dass die thermischen Belastungen abhängig vom Baumuster einen z.T. deutlichen Einfluss auf die Restfestigkeiten der Atemschutzflaschen haben. Höhere thermische Exposition ist, zumindest an den untersuchten Atemschutzflaschen, deutlich zu erkennen und die Flaschen können durch die zuständigen Gerätewarte leicht ausgesondert und ersetzt werden. Die thermischen Belastungen, wie sie im Rettungseinsatz auftreten, waren für die untersuchten Atemschutzflaschen und die Rettungskräfte nicht kritisch sind. Die langjährige Erfahrung etablierter Hersteller dürfte hier aber nicht ohne Einfluss sein. Es ist somit kein Grund erkennbar, von der Verwendung der leichteren Typ 4 Atemschutzflaschen abzuraten, wenn Atemschutzflaschen, die visuell erkennbare thermische Einwirkungen (Farbänderungen, Materialschmelzungen o.ä.) aufweisen, unmittelbar ersetzt werden. Die Ergebnisse an den FG zeigen, dass trotz hoher Temperaturen keine Selbstentzündung der Lithiumbatterien ausgelöst wird. Der Kapazitätsverlust der Batterien infolge der Belastung führt ebenfalls nicht zu einem Funktionsausfall. Es konnte gezeigt werden, dass die Kapazitätsbestimmung als zuverlässiges und geeignetes Kriterium für die Sicherheitsbewertung der Akkus herangezogen werden kann, wenn die Kapazitätsmessung bei gleichbleibenden Bedingungen (gleiche Raumtemperaturen, gleiche Messgeräte, etc.) stattfindet. Es wird empfohlen, die Akkus ab einer Restkapazität von unter 80% zu tauschen. Als schnelle und sehr einfache Überprüfung kann eine Sichtprüfung an den FG stattfinden. Die im Projekt verwendeten FG zeigten eine Verformung der Kunststoffhülle bei zu hohen Belastungen. N2 - The aim of the project was to determine the influence of the real temperature load on breathing apparatus cylinders and Lithium batteries in radio devices in firefighting operations by rescue services and to be able to better assess their effect on ageing and service life time as well as the potential health hazards and to derive guidelines for action. As part of this project, composite breathing air cylinders that had undergone different thermal ageing processes were systematically analysed with regard to their residual strength. as a second use case, lithium batteries used in radio devices were analysed with regard to the effect of critical temperatures above which thermal runaway of the batteries can occur. Critical temperature-time profiles were determined for these two important components, lithium batteries and composite breathing air cylinders, the effects for the user were analysed using suitable methods and the resulting hazards for the wearer were assessed. As a methodical approach, the actual temperature profiles previously determined by literature research were first verified in real tests and the laboratory loads were derived on this basis. In order to take into account the properties of composite breathing air cylinders made of fibre composites, sample groups were subjected to different thermal loads and examined with regard to their residual strength reduction and in comparison to thermally unloaded samples from two representative samples from different manufacturers. In addition to the static burst tests, combined ageing and residual strength tests were also carried out on cyclic loaded cylinders. The radio devices were subjected to both static and cyclic thermal loads with accompanying capacity measurements. The purpose of the static tests was to determine the maximum thermal load capacity of the batteries at which no failure occurs. In the cyclic tests, practical conditions were simulated as closely as possible in the laboratory. For this purpose, the batteries were repeatedly subjected to a load profile at a constant temperature and the residual capacity of the battery was measured after several intervals to determine the degradation. As a conclusion of the tests carried out on two representative types of breathing apparatus cylinders as part of this project, it can be concluded that the thermal loads have a sometimes significant influence on the residual strength of the breathing apparatus cylinders, depending on the type. Higher thermal exposure is clearly recognizable, at least on the breathing apparatus cylinders tested, and the cylinders can be easily remove and replaced by the responsible equipment maintainers. The thermal loads that occur during rescue operations were not critical for the tested breathing protection cylinders and the rescue teams. However, the many years of experience of established manufacturers should not be without influence here. There is therefore no reason to advise against the use of the lighter Type 4 breathing protection breathing apparatus cylinders if cylinders with visually recognizable thermal effects (color changes, material melting, etc.) are replaced immediately. The results on the radio devices showed that determination of the capacity can serve as a suitable criterion for the safety assessment for the batteries. The loss of capacity of the batteries as a result of the load also does not lead to a functional failure. The capacity determination can be used as a reliable and suitable criterion for the safety assessment of the batteries if the capacity measurement is carried out under constant conditions (same room temperatures, same measuring devices, etc.). It is recommended to replace the batteries when the remaining capacity is below 80%. A visual inspection of the radio devices can be carried out as a quick and very simple check. The radio devices used in the project showed deformation of the plastic casing when subjected to excessive loads. Therefore, and to ensure the availability of infrastructure, an early detection and localization of potentially hazardous degradations to the walls (e.g. cracks, pittings, sedimentation, etc.) of the containments is necessary. However, in many cases it is not feasible to equip pipelines with a large number of point sensors at reasonable expense. The principle of distributed fibre optic sensing relies on one single optical fibre, which simultaneously acts as a spatially continuous sensor as well as the signal transducer. Therefore, extensive structures can be provided with this type of sensor with comparatively low efforts. As a consequence, monitoring oil and gas pipelines using distributed fibre optic sensors is on the upswing. Besides the established methods to measure temperature and strain, distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) has lately received considerable attention as a means to detect and localize third party threats to pipelines (approach of vehicles, digging, mechanical manipulation). The so far not utilized potential of DAS as a means for continuous condition monitoring of pipes by detecting and localizing acoustic signals that point to certain damage scenarios, is currently under investigation in an interdisciplinary research project at BAM (AGIFAMOR, Ageing Infrastructures – Fibre Optic Monitoring of Pipes). The aim of this investigation is to assess the suitability of optical spectroscopy and a dye-based optical probe to monitor early hydration of C⁠3A in the presence of gypsum and hemihydrate. Optical evaluation was performed using steady-state fluorescence and diffuses reflectance spectroscopy (UV-VisDR). Phase characterization during hydration was done with in-situ X-ray diffraction. UV-VisDR with a cyanine dye probe was used to monitor the formation of metastable phases and was employed together with fluorescence spectroscopy, to follow the Aggregation and disaggregation of the dye during hydration. In conclusion, for the first time, a cyanine dye was identified as a feasible and stable probe to monitor C⁠3A hydration changes in the presence of calcium sulfate.
