T1 - International comparison CCQM-K66: Impurity analysis of methane N2 - This key comparison was performed to demonstrate the capability of NMIs to analyse the purity of methane for use as a source gas in the preparation of standard gas mixtures. This capability is an essential requirement for the preparation of accurate standards of natural gas and some other fuels. Since it is difficult to carry out a comparison with individual samples of pure gas, the sample for this comparison was a synthetic mixture of high purity methane with selected added impurities of nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide and ethane. These mixtures were prepared by a gas company as a batch of 10 cylinders and their homogeneity and stability were evaluated by NMIJ. The KCRVs for the four different analytes in this key comparison are based on a consensus of values reported by participants. The uncertainties in the degrees of equivalence were calculated by combining the reported uncertainties with the homogeneity of the samples and the uncertainty of the KCRV. The results submitted are generally consistent with the KCRV within the estimated uncertainties. Finally, this comparison demonstrates that the analysis of nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide and ethane in methane at amount fractions of 1 µmol/mol to 5 µmol/mol is generally possible with an uncertainty of 5% to 10%. A1 - Tuma, Dirk A1 - Kohl, Anka A1 - Schulz, Gert T1 - Final report of the pilot study CCQM-P110-B1: A comparison of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in nitrogen standards at 10 µmol/mol by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) N2 - This pilot study compares the performance of participants in analyzing gas mixtures of nitrogen dioxide in nitrogen by comparison with in-house gravimetric standards using Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). In this study the same gas mixtures were used as in the key comparison CCQM-K74, which was designed to evaluate the level of comparability of National Metrology Institutes' measurement capabilities for nitrogen dioxide (NO2) at a nominal mole fraction of 10 µmol/mol. In the comparison CCQM-K74 most of the participants used chemiluminescence, with a small number using UV absorption or FT-IR spectroscopy, and thus it is of interest to improve understanding of the comparative performance of these techniques because they do not exhibit any cross-sensitivity to nitric acid (HNO3), which was known to be present in the mixtures used for the comparison. The results of this pilot study indicate good consistency and a level of agreement similar to that reported in the comparison CCQM-K74, demonstrating that FT-IR can be operated as a comparison method when calibrated with appropriate gas standards and can achieve similar measurement uncertainties to chemiluminescence and UV absorption techniques. An additional pilot study, CCQM-P110-B2, was conducted on the same gas mixtures in parallel with this pilot study. The second study addressed FT-IR spectroscopy when used to measure the gas mixtures with respect to reference spectra. The results of this second study will be reported elsewhere. Main text. T1 - Tribological properties of aluminium alloys in environmentally acceptable hydraulic fluids N2 - Umweltregularien schreiben, global gesehen, mehr und mehr umweltfreundliche Schmierstoffe (EAL – Environmental Acceptable Lubricants) auf Basis von Estern oder Polyglykolen vor. Die Kompatibilität von diesen Schmierstoffen mit den verwendeten Tribomaterialien in hydraulischen Systemen, wie beispielsweise gleitende Bauteile und Öldichtungen, sollte dabei genauer betrachtet werden. Im Leichtbau werden häufig Aluminium-Legierungen für Bauteile mit Gleitkontakten in Hydrauliksystemen eingesetzt. Dafür ist es notwendig, die Oberflächenbeschaffenheit der eingesetzten Materialen positiv zu beeinflussen, um die reduzierte Verschleißbeständigkeit im Misch- und Grenzreibungsbereich des Aluminiums zu verbessern. Die Legierung AA6061, sowohl unbeschichtet als auch mit Konversionsschichten versehen, und eine alternative AlFeXY Legierung (unbeschichtet) wurden im Misch- und Grenzreibungsbereich auf einem Laborprüfstand für kontinuierliches Gleiten (Zylinder-Ebene-Kontakt) unter der Verwendung von kommerziell erhältlichen EALs bei 80°C gegen 100Cr6 untersucht. Diese Testkampagne zeigte, daß geeignete Werkstoffkombinationen und kommerziell verfügbare EALs das Potential haben, sich mit dem konventionellen Werkstoff- und Schmierstoffpaarungen unter Misch- und Grenzreibungsbedingungen zu N2 - Environmental legislations prescribe globally more and more environmentally acceptable lubricants (EALs), based on esters and polyglycols. The compatibility of EALs with tribo-materials used in hydraulic System such sliding parts and oil seals needs to be considered. Aluminium alloys are widely used as lightweight material for sliding parts in many applications. It is necessary to provide optimized design on its surface because of the inferior wear resistance under mixed/ boundary lubrication. The AA6061 alloy (uncoated and coated by different conversion coatings) and an alternative AI-Fe-XY alloy (uncoated) were tested by a continuous sliding test (cylinder-on-disk) under mixed/boundary lubrication with commercially available EALs at 80°C against 100Cr6 Steel. Appropriate combinations of aluminium alloys (coated or uncoated) and commercially available EALs have the potential to compete with conventional tribo-system like steel/steel lubricated with mineral hydraulic fluids under mixed/boundary lubrication. A1 - Woydt, Mathias T1 - Friction reduction effect of alternative lubricants for plasma electrolytic oxidation coating on AA6061-T6 N2 - Drei verschiedene Grundöltypen (Poly-a-Olefin, Polypropylenglykol und ungesättigte TMP-Ester) und diese Grundöle additiviert mit 2 verschiedenen Additiven (1 Gew.-% ZnDTP oder 1 Gew.-% Dibenzyldisulfid (DBDS)) wurden als Schmiermittel verwendet, um die tribologischen Eigenschaften eines durch plasma-elektrolytische Oxidation behandeltes AA6061-T6 in einem SRV-Tribometer (Toi = 80 °C, Fn = 50N, v = 50 Hz, 2 mm Hub, 2 Stunden) zu bestimmen. Das PPG und die TMP-Ester mit und ohne Additive hatten bessere Schmierfähigkeiten als der PAO. ZnDTP reduziert zwar den Verschleiß, aber erhöht in PAO und PPG die Reibung. Die ungesättigten TMP-Ester + 1 Gew% DBDS zeigten eine um 45% geringere Reibung als PAO + ZnDTP (Referenz) und die Reibung PPG + DBDS war immerhin 30% niedriger. N2 - 3 different base-stocks (poly-a-olefin, polypropylene glycol and unsaturated TMP ester) and these blended with 2 different additives (1wt% ZnDTP or 1wt% dibenzyl disulfide(DBDS)) were used as lubricants to evaluate the tribological properties of AA6061-T6 treated by means of plasma electrolytic oxidation in a SRV tribometer (Toi|=80 °C, Fn = 50N, v= 50 Hz, 2mm stroke, 2hrs). The base oils of PPG and the TMP-ester had better lubricities than the PAO with/without the additives. ZnDTP tend to reduce wear, but when added to PAO and PPG increased the friction. The unsaturated TMP-ester +1wt%DBDS showed 45% lower friction than PAO + ZnDTP (reference), whereas PPG + DBDS had 30% lower friction. T2 - 55. Die DLC-Dünnschicht besteht aus einem bestimmten Verhältnis an sp2/sp3-hybridisiertem Kohlenstoff. Im Gegensatz zu artgleichen Gleitpaarungen aus MgO-.Zr02, AI2O3 oder SSiC mit Reibungszahlen oberhalb von 0,45, zeigt die Gleitpaarungen aus MgO-Zr02/DLC und alpha-A^OVDLC Festkörpergleitreibungszahlen zwischen 0,075 und 0,15, welche mit ansteigender Gleitgeschwindigkeit leicht abnahmen. Die Verschleißkoeffizienten der DLC-Dünnschichten lagen im Bereich von kleiner als 10~7 mm3/Nm bis herunter zu 10"9 mm3/Nm. N2 - This paper presents a dry sliding tribo-couple (DLC/monolithic oxide ceramics), where the tribological quantities are more or less in a wide ränge independent of the sliding speed. The DLC film is composed of a specific mixture of sp3 /sp2 hybridized carbon. Self-mated ceramic/ceramic couples of MgO-Zr02, alpha-AI203 or SSiC are with their coefficients of friction above 0.45 not so lubricious, whereas the coefficients of friction of the tribocouples MgO-Zr02/DLC and alpha-AbOVDLC ranged between 0.075 and 0.15 under dry sliding. The coefficients of friction for these tribo-couples tend to decrease with increase sliding speed from 0.03 m/s to 6 m/s. The dry wear rates of the thin film is low (<10‘7 mm3/Nm) and perfectly independent from sliding velocity. T2 - 55.
