A1 - Rethmeier, Michael T1 - Mechanical properties of weldbonded joints of advanced high strength steels N2 - In lightweight car body shell mass production, due to requirements on vehicle weight reduction and carbon dioxide emissions, joining of advanced high strength steels (AHSS) with different joining procedures and especially hybrid bonding techniques is becoming more and more important. One of these hybrid bonding techniques is the combination of resistance spot welding and adhesive bonding called weldbonding. One of the important advantages of weldbonded joints in comparison to resistance spot welded joints are the enhanced mechanical properties. To guarantee sufficiently high quality conditions regarding the strength of the weldbonded joints, the influences of the applied adhesive systems and of different base metal combinations are studied. This is carried out for both non-corrosive and corrosive environments and for the choice of different joining parameters settings. In particular, the mechanical behaviour of the weldbonded joints is investigated under quasi-static, impact and fatigue loads. Furthermore, the energy absorption of the weldbonded joints for both non-corrosive and corrosive environments is studied. It is shown that the weldbonded joints possess higher mechanical strengths in all load cases (quasi-static, impact and fatigue). Corrosive attack affects weldbonded joints, and the quasi-static strength is reduced. Resistance spot welded joints are not affected by the corrosive attack, but even after several weeks of corrosive attack, the quasi-static strength of weldbonded joints remains higher than that of resistance spot welded joints. The given results are based on the application of an epoxy PUR-based, an epoxy resin-based and a rubber-based adhesive system for joining a mild and some different advanced high strength steels (AHSS). It will be shown that both the process reliability of the weldbonding process and the mechanical behaviour of the weldbonded joints are influenced by the combinations of the base metals, the applied adhesive systems and the choice of the joining parameters. The behaviour of the weldbonded joints will be studied under quasi-static and impact loads. The discussion of the metallurgical structure of the weldbonded joints depending on the joining parameters will be given, too. Furthermore, the fatigue behaviour of the weldbonded joints will be studied. T1 - The use of multi-element aerosol particles for determining temporal variations in temperature and electron density in laser-induced plasmas in support of quantitative laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy N2 - Quantitative laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) analysis operates on the assumption that the sample is completely dissociated and diffused within the highly energetic plasma on time-scales of analyte analysis, resulting in analyte emission ideally at the bulk plasma temperature and a signal that is linear with analyte mass concentration. However, recent studies focusing on aerosol analysis have found the heat and mass diffusion rates within laser-induced plasmas to be finite, resulting in particle-rich, locally perturbed areas within the hot bulk plasma. The goal of this study is to observe any related plasma differences, by calculating the bulk and local (i.e. analyte rich regions) plasma temperatures and electron density, to better understand the time frame of equilibrium between the local and bulk plasma properties. This study also seeks to determine whether the presence of large quantities of a matrix element can significantly alter the local plasma conditions, thereby generating matrix effects. We report the temporal profiles of particle-derived species, adding additional insight into the effect of local perturbation of plasma properties, with the conclusion that significant plasma residence (tens of microseconds) is necessary to minimize such effects. Due to very high air tightness and very low air exchange rates in new buildings concentrations of these harmful substances can increase considerably. To minimize the risk, emissions from building products should be identified and quantified. With the common standard method, this means Tenax® sampling followed by thermal desorption and GC-MS analysis, these acids could not be detected sufficiently. The aim oft this study is the comparison of two different methods for the determination of acetic and formic acid. The sampling of method one, which is usually used for identification and quantification of VOCs, is done in accordance with ISO 16000-6 and ISO 16017-1 on Carbotrap® 202 multi-bed thermal desorption tube by subsequent identification and quantification with GC-MS. Method two is based on sampling on 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) cartridges, derivatisation, elution, identification and quantification of the derivatives with LC-MS/MS (liquid chromatography – mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry). N2 - Viele Konstruktions- und Baumaterialien, wie Holz, Kleber und Anstriche, sind mögliche Quellen für leicht flüchtige organische Verbindungen (VVOC) und flüchtige organische Verbindungen (VOC), wie Ameisen- und Essigsäure. Bedingt durch die hohe Dichtigkeit und den damit verbundenen niedrigen Luftwechsel in neuen Gebäuden können die Konzentrationen dieser gesundheitsgefährdenden Substanzen beträchtlich ansteigen. Um das Risiko zu minimieren, sollen Emissionen aus Bauprodukten identifiziert und quantifiziert werden. Mit der üblichen Standardmethode, die auf einer Luftprobenahme auf Tenax® und anschließender Analyse mittels GC-MS basiert, können diese Säuren nicht ausreichend detektiert werden. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist der Vergleich von zwei unterschiedlichen Methoden zur Bestimmung von Essig- und Ameisensäure. Die Luftprobenahme der ersten Methode, die üblicherweise zur Identifizierung und Quantifizierung von VOC genutzt wird, wurde gemäß ISO 16000-6 and ISO 16017-1 auf Carbotrap® 202, ein mit mehreren Adsorbentien gepacktes Thermodesorptionsrohr, mit anschließender Identifikation und Quantifizierung mittels GC-MS durchgeführt. Ergänzend hierzu wurden Parameter wie pH-Wert und Leitfähigkeit des Wassers im Befeuchter untersucht und die mikrobiellen flüchtigen organischen Verbindungen (MVOC, microbial volatile organic compounds) in der Modellvitrine bestimmt. Die Leitfähigkeitsmessung kann als Indikator für den Verunreinigungsgrad des Wassers dienen, weil sie mit der mikrobiologischen Belastung korreliert. T1 - Methoden zur Differenzierung von Tierarten in Lebensmitteln – Status quo N2 - Nicht zuletzt bedingt durch den Pferdefleischskandal im Jahr 2013 wurden in Deutschland die Aktivitäten bei der Methodenstandardisierung im Bereich der Tierarten-Differenzierung in den vergangenen Jahren intensiviert. Wenn auch positive Befunde bei dem Nachweis von Bestandteilen aus Pferd in Lebensmitteln wie Lasagne derzeit so gut wie nicht mehr anzutreffen sind, so hat die Tierartendifferenzierung insgesamt beim Nachweis von Verfälschungen in Lebensmitteln einen hohen Stellenwert. Diese Arbeit fasst daher den aktuellen Stand der Analytik in Deutschland mit Schwerpunkt bei der Standardisierung zusammen. Interactions of the endoprosthesis biomaterial with the body affect implantation time by wear processes, i.e. corrosion and abrasion. Previously, cobalt-chrome implants were shown to cause high levels of cobalt ions being deposited in the bone matrix. To determine a poten- tial functional role of these ions on bone homeostasis, we have developed a non-destructive dual analysis of highly sensitive elemental analysis by synchrotron XRF directly in undecalcified histological bone thin sections (4 μm). In this study, samples from 28 bone samples from hip endoprosthesis carriers (Surface Replacement Arthroplasty, metal-on-metal bearing) with an implant lifetime of 17–1750 days were used. Results were compared to age- matched control specimens. The histological analysis identified areas of bone cell activity and assigned them for XRF measurements. Co-Cr wear particles were identified in the bone marrow. In addition, Co ions were highly enriched in the mineralized bone matrix. The cobalt deposits were not homogeneously distributed, and areas of high signal intensity were identified. Co was distinctly deposited in the newly formed osteoid layer, but also within deeper layers of the bone matrix, whereby the Co concentration increased with higher degrees of bone matrix mineralization. In the current study, we determined cobalt accumulations in the bone matrix and showed for the first time via synchrotron XRF with a high spatial resolution direct on histological slides, that cobalt deposits in the mineralized bone matrix in a mineral-specific way that is dependent upon the implant lifetime.
