T1 - Multivalent grafting of hyperbranched oligo- and polyglycerols shielding rough membranes to mediate hemocompatibility N2 - Hemocompatible materials are needed for internal and extracorporeal biomedical applications, which should be realizable by reducing protein and thrombocyte adhesion to such materials. Polyethers have been demonstrated to be highly efficient in this respect on smooth surfaces. Here, we investigate the grafting of oligo- and polyglycerols to rough poly(ether imide) membranes as a polymer relevant to biomedical applications and show the reduction of protein and thrombocyte adhesion as well as thrombocyte activation. It could be demonstrated that, by performing surface grafting with oligo- and polyglycerols of relatively high polydispersity (>1.5) and several reactive groups for surface anchoring, full surface shielding can be reached, which leads to reduced protein adsorption of albumin and fibrinogen. In addition, adherent thrombocytes were not activated. This could be clearly shown by immunostaining adherent proteins and analyzing the thrombocyte covered area. The presented work provides an important strategy for the development of application relevant hemocompatible 3D structured materials. Ring-Opening Polycondensations of Tin-Containing Macrocycles with Bis(Thioarylester)s N2 - 2,2-Dibutyl-2-stanna-1,3-dioxepane (DSDOP) was polycondensed with bis(4-chlorothiophenyl) suberat under various reaction conditions, but only moderate molecular weights (Mn 10000) were obtained. The MALDI-TOF mass spectrosmetry revealed the formation of cyclic oligo- and polyesters in addition to linear species having OH, CO2H, and unreacted 4-chlorothiophenyl ester endgroups. Furthermore, -Caprolactone (-CL) was polymerized with DSDOP as the initiator at monomer/initiator (M/I) ratios of 20 and 50. The resulting tin-containing macrocyclic polylactones were reacted with sebacic acid bis(4-thiocresyl)ester at three different temperatures and with different reaction times. Analogous polycondensations were conducted with suberic acid bis(4-chlorothiophenyl) ester. The presence of thioarylester endgroups in the isolated polyesters was checked by 1H NMR spectroscopy. The highest conversions were found at long reaction times (24 or 72 hours), or after the addition of pyridine and N,N-dimethylaminopyridine as catalysts. Despite high conversions, the number average molecular weights (Mn's) did not exceed values around 20000. Even in the samples having the highest molecular weights, unreacted 4-chlorothiophenylester endgroups were detected by GPC measurements evaluated with a UV-detector. It is concluded that both factors, cyclization and incomplete conversion, contribute to the limitation of the chain growth. The measured temperature increase of a Ta2O5 film scales exponentially with the pulse fluence. A polarized luminescence signal is observed that depends quadratically on the pulse fluence and is attributed to twophoton excitation of self-trapped excitons that form after band-to-band excitation. The damage fluence decreases with increasing pulse number, but is independent of the repetition rate from 1 Hz to 1 kHz at a constant pulse number. The repetition rate dependence of the breakdown threshold is also measured for TiO2 , HfO2, Al2O3, and SiO2 films. A theoretical model is presented that explains these findings. Für die Optimierung der Brennstoffzellentechnik ist es erforderlich, die während des Zellbetriebs ablaufenden Prozesse zu verstehen und exakt zu charakterisieren. Ein ausbalanciertes Wassermanagement ist die Grundlage für die optimale Leistungsfähigkeit einer wasserstoffbetriebenen Zelle. Das während des Betriebs entstehende Wasser muss die Membran ausreichend befeuchten, um deren Protonenleitfähigkeit aufrechtzuerhalten. Andererseits behindern zu große Wasseransammlungen in der Zelle die Gaszufuhr durch die porösen Materialien sowie in den Kanälen der Gasverteilerstrukturen. Alterungsphänomene einzelner Zellkomponenten können die Verteilung der Wasseransammlungen und somit das Wassermanagement empfindlich stören und so die Leistungsfähigkeit der Brennstoffzelle herabsetzen. Zur Analyse der Wasserverteilung werden zerstörungsfreie, bildgebende Methoden, wie die Ex-situ-Neutronentomografie und die In-situ-Synchrotronradiografie, eingesetzt. Diese Methoden können während des Brennstoffzellenbetriebs mit weiteren Messverfahren, beispielsweise der ortsaufgelösten Stromdichtemessung, kombiniert werden. Alterungsphänomene der einzelnen Komponenten können dieses sensible Wassermanagement stören und so die Leistungsfähigkeit einer Brennstoffzelle herabsetzen. Zum tieferen Verständnis der Wasserverteilung werden zerstörungsfreie Methoden, wie zum Beispiel die ex situ Neutronentomografie oder die in situ Synchrotronradiografie eingesetzt. Letztere Methode kann während des Brennstoffzellenbetriebs in Kombination mit weiteren Messmethoden, wie der ortsaufgelösten Stromdichtemessung, eingesetzt werden. T1 - Production of marketable multi-nutrient fertilisers from different biomass ashes and industrial by-products N2 - Sewage sludge ashes (SSA) contain considerable mass fractions of phosphorus (5-10 w-% P) suitable for fertiliser production. Unfortunately, also most of the heavy metals remain in the ashes. A thermochemical process was developed for the treatment of SSA to i) remove heavy metals and ii) transform phosphates into bio-available mineral phases. The technology was already demonstrated in technical scale (capacity of 300 kg/h) and the company OUTOTEC is currently planning the first industrial plant. In order to manufacture a marketable multi-nutrient fertiliser from the thermochemically treated SSA further wastes and industrial by-products were taken into account. Ammonium sulphate occurs as a by-product of the caprolactam production and was chosen as N-carrier (21 w-% N). Straw ash was tested as potassium carrier (11-15 w-% K). Granulation campaigns were carried out with intensive mixers in lab-, medium-and technical scale. NPS-and NPKS-fertilisers were produced that were characterised by suitable particle size distributions and strength. T1 - Organisation Innovation in the Digital Layer: Exploring the Adoption of the Management System Standard ISO/IEC 27001 N2 - Despite the increasing relevance of cybersecurity for companies’ performance, there is limited research on the adoption of ISO/IEC 27001, an international information security management standard. The aim of our study is to expand this limited body of literature. First, we analyse the influence of companies’ networks on the adoption of ISO/IEC 27001 as an organisational innovation based on firm website data and their hyperlinks, using the entire population of ISO/IEC 27001 certified firms identified via web mining. Second, we validate the method of constructing and analysing companies’ “digital layer” following the call for new methodological approaches to study the organisational adoption of innovations. Our findings reveal that companies' decision to adopt ISO/IEC 27001 increases significantly with their number of linkages to other companies and to those having the same certificate. Finally, their cognitive and organisational distances to linked partners have the expected inverted u-shaped influence on their own adoption decision. Several of the input streams like mineral fertilizer produced from phosphate rock or sewage sludge are problematic due to contamination with heavy metals and organic pollutants and/or supply risks. Phosphorus recovery from the wastewater stream might help to diminish these problems. Several procedures have been developed to recover P from either sewage sludge ash (SSA) or wastewater via precipitation or crystallization as struvite. This study determined the elemental composition and trace metal mass fractions of 252 SSA samples and 17 struvite samples from wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) to see whether there are differences related to the source of the sludge (municipal/industrial) or the stage of the WWTP where the struvite is produced. Results indicated that there is no clear trend of the elemental mass fractions related to the source of the sludge. All struvite samples show very low heavy metal contents, even though the struvite precipitated from the sludge shows slightly elevated heavy metal mass fractions compared to struvite crystallized from sludge liquor. Struvite is a clean and plant available material for fertilizer production from wastewater streams and has some advantages for the wastewater treatment plant. However, since the P recovery rate of struvite processes is low (7–11%) compared to that from SSA processes (90%), recovery from SSA is necessary for a substantial P recovery from the wastewater stream. Thus we determined the PAH recoveries from various container materials (polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polytetraflourethylene (PTFE), stainless steel (ES), and perflouroalkoxy (PFA)) and compared them to selected PAH properties. We found the best recoveries for PFA (68%) and PTFE (65%) containers. Three different types of paper (pure-cellulose filter paper, rag paper, and wood-pulp paper) were mechanically soiled with pulverized charcoal in a standardized procedure to make model samples. These samples were characterized microscopically and by means of lightness measurements using a multi-spectral imaging system. A prototype laser workstation with Laser Class I conditions for the operator was used for the cleaning experiments. For 10-ns laser pulses at a wavelength of 532 nm, a set of laser parameters was established for a successful cleaning of the samples avoiding damage to the paper substrate. Single- and multi-pulse illumination conditions were tested. An extensive microscopic analysis after laser treatment of the cleaned parts of the samples provided insight into the remaining soiling on the surface and in the bulk of the paper material. T1 - Dependence of the optic nerve sheath diameter on acutely applied subarachnoidal pressure - an experimental ultrasound study N2 - Purpose: To determine the distensibility and elastic characteristics of the optic nerve sheath for development of a basic understanding of ultrasound studies aimed to measure optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) for detection of acutely elevated intracranial pressure (ICP). Methods: Isolated human optic nerves preparations obtained from autopsies were submitted to predefined pressure alterations, and consecutive changes in ONSD were measured by B-scan ultrasound under defined conditions. Results: Following submission to pressure, the diameter of the nerve sheath increased up to 140% of its baseline value. The increase (mean 1.97 mm, SD 0.52 mm) corresponded to the magnitude of pressure steps measured in the perineural subarachnoidal space (SAS). Similarly, the ONSD declined in each of the preparations within a few minutes after the optic nerve was decompressed. However, it did not reach its baseline value again when pressure loads of 45–55 mmHg or more had been applied. Conclusions: The elasticity of the anterior sheath of the optic nerve is sufficient for the detection of pressure changes in the SAS especially for upward pressure steps. This is basically important for the application of clinical monitoring of the sheath diameter to facilitate the identification of patients with elevated ICP non-invasively (screening). However, further implementation of this procedure in neurointensive care and emergency medicine has to consider that the sheath diameter reversibility may be impaired after episodes of prolonged intracranial hypertension and a model for hysteresis is proposed. The dynamics of the bubble formation and detachment of the bubbles from the position of formation is strongly correlated with the current density. Cracks and breaks in the catalyst layer which result from the preparation process are visible under operating conditions and a possible swelling of the catalyst layer does not reach a complete vanishing of the cracks. Several procedures have been developed to recovery these technological important elements. Nevertheless, actual REE recycling from fluorescence lamps is scarce so far (recovery rate of less than 1 %), with current recycling approaches concentrating on glass recovery. Since most recycling processes include several, also wet-chemical steps, a complete knowledge of the actual elemental composition of the respective mass flows is necessary for an efficient REE recovery. We tested seven different reagent mixtures for microwave-assisted digestion of fluorescent lamp shredder, including HF, HClO4, and H2O2. We determined the concentrations of 25 of the most relevant rare earth and other trace elements in the respective dilutions. Two independent digestions, one a mixture of perchlorid/nitric/hydrofluoric acid and the other aqua regia, showed the highest concentrations of 23 of these elements, excluding only Sn and Tb. The REE concentrations in the tested lamp shredder sample (stated in g/kg) were 10.2 (Y), 12.1 (La), 7.77 (Ce), 6.91 (Eu), 1.90 (Gd), and 4.11 (Tb). T1 - Freisetzung toxischer Gase bei der Verwendung von Grillgeräten in geschlossenen Räumen und deren frühzeitige Detektion N2 - Durch die Verwendung von Grillgeräten in geschlossenen Räumen, wie Gartenlauben, Wohnungen oder Garagen kam es in den vergangenen Jahren zu einer Vielzahl von Unfällen mit schweren Vergiftungen und Todesfällen. Seit 2008 scheint das Auftreten von Kohlenmonoxid (CO) Intoxikationen innerhalb Deutschland wieder zu zunehmen. Die Hauptursachen sind dabei der unsachgemäße Gebrauch von Holzkohlegrills, schlecht gewartete Gasthermen und Kamine. Zum Schutz der Bevölkerung ist deshalb eine Aufklärung über mögliche Gefahren wichtig. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wurden diese Gefahren bewertet. Es wurden verschiedene Brandszenarien mit Grillgeräten, mit unterschiedlichen Grillkohlearten und –mengen in geschlossenen Räumen realisiert und die entsprechenden Konzentrations-Zeit-Verläufe ermittelt. Bei den Brandversuchen wurden zudem notwendige Eingabeparameter für numerische Simulationen ermittelt, um die Verwendung von Holzkohlegrills in geschlossenen Räumen zu simulieren. Die Auswirkungen für Menschen beim Grillen in geschlossenen Räumen wurden quantifiziert, indem die Eintrittszeitpunkte der Handlungsunfähigkeit und des Todes mittels Fractional Effective Dose (FED)-Konzept bestimmt wurden. Die Ergebnisse zeigen deutlich, dass eine frühzeitige Detektion der toxischen Gase zur Warnung von Personen dringend notwendig ist. In den durchgeführten Brandversuchen zeigte sich, dass die gebräuchlichen Rauchmelder auf Streulichtbasis keine rechtzeitige Warnung ermöglichen. Deshalb sind für solche Brandszenarien andere Branddetektoren erforderlich. Entsprechende Versuche mit CO-Brandmeldern zeigten, dass das freigesetzte CO beim Grillen in geschlossenen Räumen frühzeitig detektiert werden kann und Personen somit rechtzeitig gewarnt werden können. Zur frühzeitigen Erkennung von Schwelbränden wurde weiterhin ein neuer Wasserstoffdetektor getestet. Die Entstehung von Wasserstoff in einer sehr frühen Brandphase kann zur frühzeitigen Erkennung von Schwelbränden genutzt werden. Bei ersten Schwelbrandexperimenten mit Holzproben konnte Wasserstoff in einer geschlossenen Kammer (0,5 m3) nachgewiesen werden, noch bevor es zu einer erhöhten CO-Emission kam. The spent fluorescent lamps were obtained at the collection yards of a public waste management company in Hamburg, Germany. An innovative systematic sampling method is utilized to collect six spent and eight corresponding new, off-the-shelf fluorescent lamp samples. The efficiency of several acid digestion methods for the determination of the elemental composition was studied and elemental mass fractions of K, Na, Y, Ca, Ba, Eu, Al, Pb, Mg, Hg, and P were measured. The study also finds aqua regia to be the best reagent for acid digestion. However, no significant difference in mercury distribution was found in the different phases of the new and spent fluorescent lamps. Durch die Entwicklung eines geeigneten Wasserstoffsensors ist es nicht nur möglich, sehr frühzeitig einen entstehenden Brand zu detektieren, sondern durch die Erkennung eines Entstehungsbrandes und frühzeitiger Löschmaßnahmen ergibt sich eine Vermeidung von Personen- und Sachschäden. Die sich in der Entwicklung befindlichen Wasserstoffsensoren wurden von der TLTS GmbH zur Verfügung gestellt. Im Rahmen dieses Projektes wurden diese Sensoren in verschiedenen Testbränden, d.h. sowohl im Labormaßstab, in der Rauchkammer, als auch in Realbrandszenarien in einer 2-Raum-Containerwohnung mit verschiedenen wohnungstypischen Materialien und Gebrauchsgegenständen getestet, insbesondere in Kombination mit anderen analytischen Methoden und im Vergleich mit anderen Detektionssystemen. Der Schwerpunkt lag in der Rauchgaskomponentendetektion in der frühen Brandphase, insbesondere der Wasserstoffgenerierung in Abhängigkeit des Brandszenarios. Es erfolgten umfangreiche Untersuchungen bezüglich der Korrelation von Brandmaterialien, thermischen Bedingungen, Strömungsverhältnissen und geometrischen Bedingungen zur Wasserstoffgenerierung, ihrem zeitlichen Verlauf und der Relation zu anderen entstehenden Gasen (z.B. Kohlenstoffmonoxid) und der Rauchentwicklung unter exakt definierten (reproduzierbaren) Brandentstehungsbedingungen. Dadurch wurde eine quantifizierbare Bewertung des Wasserstoffsensors gegenüber bestehenden Systemen erreicht. Aus den Untersuchungen sind ebenfalls Schlussfolgerungen zu den Vorteilen und Grenzen der Implementierung von Wasserstoffsensoren in Multisensor-Brandmelder ableitbar. Es konnte anhand der Testbrände gezeigt werden, dass der H2-Sensor bei Schwelbrandversuche von wohnungstypischen Materialien geeignet ist und ein sehr frühzeitiger Nachweis sehr geringer H2-Konzentrationen, noch bevor Rauch und CO detektiert werden können, möglich ist und diese somit eine Alternative oder Ergänzung zu traditionellen Rauch- und CO-Meldern für mehr Sicherheit sind. Femtosecond laser ablation of glass and a subsequent deposition of a molybdenum film or direct laser processing of the molybdenum film both allow the preferential nucleation and growth of indium islands at the predefined locations in a following indium-based physical vapor deposition (PVD) process. A proper choice of laser and deposition parameters ensures the controlled growth of indium islands exclusively at the laser ablated spots. Based on a statistical analysis, these results are compared to the non-structured molybdenum surface, leading to randomly grown indium islands after PVD. Knowledge of their bioavailability, including their sorption to soils and their impact on the soil–groundwater pathway, is crucial for their risk assessment. Laboratory batch and column leaching tests are important tools for determining the release potential of contaminants from soil or waste material. Batch and column tests were carried out with soils differing in physicochemical properties, each spiked with cyclophosphamide (CK) or ifosfamide (IF). Moreover, due to the fact that environmental pollutants may occur as coexisting compounds in the soil themobility evaluation for ACDs in the mixture with metoprolol (MET; β-blocker) as a co-contaminant was performed. In order to assess appropriateness, the batch and column tests were compared. The release depended on the properties of both the soil and the presence of co-contaminants. The faster release was observed for coarse-grained soil with the smallest organic matter content (MS soil: 90% decrease in concentration until liquid-to-solid ratio (L/S) of 0.3 L kg−1 for all tests' layout) than for loamy sand (LS soil: 90% decrease in concentration until ratio L/S of 0.75 L kg−1). ACDs are highly mobile in soil systems. Furthermore, the decrease of mobility of ifosfamide was observed with the presence of a co-contaminant (metoprolol) in both of the soils (in MS soil a decrease of 29%; in LS soil a decrease of 26%). The mobility of cyclophosphamide does not depend on the presence of a contaminant for MS soil, but also exhibits a decrease of 21% in LS soil. Several recycling procedures for REE recovery from spent lamps have been established. However, despite their economic importance, the respective recycling is scarce so far, with an REE recovery rate of less than 1%. A reliable analysis of REE and other relevant metals like Yttrium is crucial for a thorough and complete recovery process. This applies both to the solid matter and aqueous phase, since most of the recycling processes include wet-chemical steps. We tested seven different reagent mixtures for microwave-assisted digestion of fluorescent lamp shredder, including hydrofluoric acid, perchloric acid, and hydrogen peroxide. We determined the concentrations of 25 of the most relevant rare earth and other trace elements (Al, P, Ti, V, Cr, Fe, Ni, Cu, Ga, Ge, As, Y, Ag, Cd, Sn, Sb, La, Ce, Eu, Gd, Tb, W, Au, Hg, and Pb) in the respective dilutions. Two independent digestions, one a mixture of perchlorid/nitric/hydrofluoric acid and the other aqua regia, showed the highest concentrations of 23 of these elements, excluding only Sn and Tb. A systematic experimental study of the laser processing parameters (peak fluence, scan velocity, line overlap) allowed the identification of different regimes associated with characteristic surface morphologies (laser-induced periodic surface structures, grooves, spikes, etc.). Analyses of the surface using optical as well as scanning electron microscopy revealed morphologies providing the optimum similarity to the natural skin of lizards. The processing was performed by scanning the laser beam over the surface of polished flat sample surfaces. A systematic variation of the laser processing parameters (peak fluence and effective number of pulses per spot diameter) allowed the identification of different regimes associated with characteristic surface morphologies (laser-induced periodic surface structures, i.e., LIPSS, grooves, spikes, etc.). Moreover, different laser processing strategies, varying laser wavelength, pulse duration, angle of incidence, irradiation atmosphere, and repetition rates, allowed to achieve a range of morphologies that resemble specific structures found on bark bugs. For identifying the ideal combination of parameters for mimicking bug-like structures, the surfaces were inspected by scanning electron microscopy. In particular, tilted micrometre-sized spikes are the best match for the structure found on bark bugs. Complementary to the morphology study, the wetting behaviour of the surface structures for water and oil was examined in terms of philic/ phobic nature and fluid transport. These results point out a route towards reproducing complex surface structures inspired by nature and their functional response in technologically relevant materials. N2 - We analysed the hydrogen generation during the smouldering of polymeric materials, which are typically used in the household, in the Smoke Density Chamber coupled to a new developed hydrogen sensor to detect early stages of fires. The results of hydrogen generation were compared with the emission of carbon monoxide and smoke during the fire scenarios. Additionally, the results were compared with parameters used in traditional commercial detection systems. In this scenario, the hydrogen sensor showed encouraging results for the detection of fires in earlier phase compared to traditional detectors. Furthermore, we tested the new developed hydrogen sensor in a real room with different fire scenarios. We have also investigated interferences, e.g. steam and cigarette smoke. The hydrogen sensor could detect hydrogen generation in the earliest stage of fire, even before CO and smoke were developed in detectable amounts. Therefore, the hydrogen sensor can be applied for early fire detection in case of pyrolysis. The sensors are quite good for detecting pyrolysis gases. But when it comes to a fast ignition other techniques are more suitable for it. The sensors are best for combination with other techniques, such as smoke detectors. The nondestructive test methods used were the rebound hammer and ultrasonic pulse velocity measurement. Two types of geometries were investigated: drilled cores and cubes. The measurement procedure for each of these datasets is conditioned to the geometry and is therefore different. The first series consists of 20 drilled cores (approximately diameter/height = 10 cm/20 cm) from the 55-year-old Lahntal Viaduct near Limburg, Germany. After preparation in the first laboratory, the lateral surface of the drilled cores was tested with the rebound hammer using a given pattern. Every laboratory tested every drilled core at different locations. Ultrasonic measurements in transmission were performed repeatedly at predefined points on the flat surfaces of the specimen. The second series consisted of 25 newly manufactured concrete cubes of a mix with a target concrete strength class of C30/37. The edge length was 15 cm. Each laboratory received five specimens of this test series. Thus, contrary to the first series, each specimen was tested by only one laboratory. Two side faces of each cube were tested with the rebound hammer. In addition, ultrasonic measurements were performed by one laboratory. The time of flight was measured between the tested side faces of the rebound hammer at different positions. For both series, rebound hammers were used to determine the R-value as well as the Q-value. The rebound hammer models within the laboratories were always the same, while they differed between the laboratories. The ultrasonic measurements took place with different measurement systems and couplants. Finally, both specimen series were tested destructively for compressive strength. The dataset contains the raw data summarized in tabular form. In addition, relevant calculated data are included in some cases. For the ultrasonic measurements, the time of flight has already been converted into the ultrasonic velocity. Oligomer characterization was carried out by 1H NMR, SEC (GPC), MALDI-TOF MS, cryoscopy and Raman spectroscopy. From 1H NMR the nature and relative ratio of the double-bond end group is determined together with n if every oligomer molecule contains such a double-bond end group. Normally vinylidene double bonds (from -hydrogen elimination) are found. From 1H NMR and MALDI-TOF MS also vinyl end groups (from -methyl elimination) are observed in the case of oligopropenes with (C4Me4P)- (C5H5)ZrCl2 and with the symmetrical methyl containing Cp2ZrCl2 pre-catalysts. The vinylidene/vinyl ratio depends on the ligand and increases from C5HMe4 (65/35) over C4Me4P (61/39) to C5Me5 (9/91). A comparison of n from 1H NMR and SEC together with MALDI-TOF MS shows that the phospholyl-zirconocenes and (C5HMe4)2ZrCl2 also exhibit chain transfer to aluminium, thereby giving saturated oligomers. A Michelson interferometer is used to generate near-equal-energy double-pulse sequences with a temporal pulse delay from -20 to +20 ps between the cross-polarized individual fs-laser pulses (~0.2 ps resolution). The results of multiple double-pulse irradiation sequences are characterized by means of Scanning Electron and Scanning Force Microscopy. Specifically in the sub-ps delay domain striking differences in the surface morphologies can be observed, indicating the importance of the laser-induced free-electron plasma in the conduction band of the solids for the formation of LIPSS. Data on the hazards of gas emissions and released heat are related to each other and differentiated by cell properties such as, cell geometry, cathode type or state of charge. Quantitative information on the total heat release in the range of 2.0–112.0 kJ Wh−1, the peak heat release rate in the range of 0.006–2.8 kW Wh−1and the smoke gas emission were extracted, normalized in terms of cell energy (Wh), combined in a data library and compared graphically. The total amount of gas emitted (3–48 mmol Wh−1) as well as the released amount of carbon monoxide (1–161 mg Wh−1) and hydrogen fluoride (2–197 mg Wh−1) were investigated as a function of the state of charge and cell geometry. The analysis reveals that the measured values are significantly influenced by the types of calorimeters and smoke gas analyzers used as well as by the type of thermal runaway trigger. This meta-analysis can serve as an important basis for any risk assessment of lithium-ion batteries.
