In der Literatur finden sich widersprüchliche Angaben zur Löslichkeit von TCP. Bedingt durch unterschiedliche Darstellungsverfahren ergeben sich verschiedenartige Materialbeschaffenheiten, die sich erst nach der Implantation durch ein differenziertes Resorptions-verhalten dokumentieren (partikulärer Abbau, chemischer Lösungsprozeß). Zur Klärung derartiger Zusammenhänge in vitro wurden 2 Methoden zur Bestimmung des Lösungsverhaltens untersucht. Dafür wurden TCP-Proben aus verschiedenen Rohstoffen dargestellt, nach unterschiedlichen Temperaturregimen behandelt und/oder einer Nachbehandlung mit Phosphorsäure unterzogen. Diese Materialien wurden vor allem mittels Röntgenpulverdiffraktometrie und Rasterelektronenmikroskopie charakterisiert. In anschließenden Löslichkeitsuntersuchungen wurden die optimalen Versuchsparameter (Lösungsmittel, Konzentration, Verhältnis Lösungsmittelmenge zur Lösungsoberfläche usw.) sowie geeignete Meßgrößen (Masseverlust, Ionenkonzentration) ermittelt. Die In-vitro-Löslichkeit erwies sich bei sorgfältiger Auswahl der Versuchsbedingungen als sehr wirkungsvolle Charakterisierungsmöglichkeit, die auf synthesebedingte chemische und morphologische Unterschiede sehr empfindlich reagiert. Translated Abstract Resorbable bone substitution on the basis of calcium phosphates Besides hydroxyapatite (HAp), tricalcium phosphate is increasingly being used as bone substitution material. In literature there are contradictory claims of the TCP solubility. As a result of are contradictory claims of the TCP solubility. As a result of different manufacturing processes there are altered material properties, which are documented by different resorption behaviour especielly after implantation (particle separation, chemical solvatation). To clarify of such in vitro connections two methods for determining the solubility were investigated. Especially for this case, TCP samples prepared from different raw materials were synthesized. These samples were given different heat treatments and/or posttreatments with phosphoric acid. The materials were characterized above all by using X-ray powder diffraction method and scanning electron microscopy. Following investigations of the solubility lead to optimized testing parameters (solvent, concentration, ratio of solvent's quantity to sample surface, etc.) as well as qualified test parameters (lost of weight, ion concentration). When the test conditions were carefully selected, the in vitro solubillity was proved to be a very effective possibility of materials characterisation which is also very sensitive regarding chemical differences caused by synthesizing or morphological differences. Im Zusammenhang mit der Novellierung der Bundes-Bodenschutzverordnung und der Einführung der Ersatzbaustoffverordnung sowie in Auswertung der Ergebnisse des BMBF-Verbundvorhabens „Sickerwasserprognose“ wurden vom DIN-Normenaus-schuss Wasserwesen, Unterausschuss „Eluierungsverfahren“ zwei Verfahren zur Elution von Fest-stoffen erarbeitet, die im Oktober 2007 als Entwürfe veröffentlicht wurden. Dabei handelt es sich um ein Säulenperkolationsverfahren zur gemeinsamen Untersuchung des Elutionsverhaltens von orga-nischen und anorganischen Stoffen (E DIN 19528) und ein Schüttelverfahren mit einem Wasser-/ Feststoff-Verhältnis (W/F) von 2 l/kg zur Untersuchung der Elution von anorganischen Stoffen (E DIN 19529). Beide Verfahren sind für Bodenmaterialien und mineralische Abfälle mit einer Korngröße bis 32 mm vorgesehen. Für Normen die in Verordnungen zitiert werden sollen, ist eine Verfahrensvalidierung erforderlich. Im Rahmen dieses Vorhabens waren die Verfahrenskenndaten auf der Grundlage von Ringversuchen zu ermitteln. Zunächst wurden vier für die Verordnungen relevante Materialien (Hausmüllverbrennungs-asche, Recyclingbaustoff, Bodenmaterial, Stahlwerksschlacke) als Referenzmaterialien (RM) aufberei-tet. Die zu analysierenden Parameter wurden unter Berücksichtigung der Regelungsrelevanz in Abstimmung mit dem Auftraggeber ausgewählt. Die RM wurden gemeinsam mit Referenzlösungen an die 53 Teilnehmer der Ringversuche ausgegeben. Die statistische Auswertung der Ringversuchsergebnisse erfolgte nach DIN 38402-42, wobei der Gesamtmittelwert aller Teilneh-mer als Sollwert herangezogen wurde. Es konnte gezeigt werden, dass akzeptable Reproduzierbarkeiten für organische und anorganische Schadstoffe durch geeignete Vorgaben sowohl für Schütteltests als auch für Säulenversuche erzielt werden können. Dies gilt insbesondere unter Berücksichtigung des breiten Korngrößenspektrums der RM, der relativ hohen zugelassenen Toleranzen für das W/F bei den Säulenversuchen und des kurzen Bekanntheitsgrades der Normenentwürfe. Die ermittelten Verfahrenskenndaten finden Eingang in die abschließende Bearbeitung der Normen. Waste materials should be tested under conditions equal to their actual application in re-use scenarios to achieve reliable results. Since the standards for leaching procedures available on international level so far are either not validated or considered inadequate in respect to coarse grained materials, new standards had to be developed. Therefore column percolation and batch test procedures have been standardized and validated to enable their introduction to new German regulations concerning waste management. Der Vergleich der Praktikabilität der beiden Elutionsverfahren soll zur Diskussion zu deren Einsatz im Rahmen der geplanten bundeseinheitlichen gesetzlichen Regelungen beitragen, welche gegenwärtig kontrovers geführt wird. In order to evaluate different leaching procedures, batch extraction tests and percolation tests were performed using three reference materials produced from contaminated soil, demolition waste and municipal solid waste incinerator bottom ash. Emphasis was placed on the investigation of the leachability of the heavy metals copper and chromium, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and the anions chloride and sulfate. Significant discrepancies between column experiments and batch/extraction tests were found for the release of PAHs and to a lesser extent for the heavy metals Cu and Cr. Additionally interlaboratory comparisons were conducted based on different leaching tests with the reference materials and evaluated using the criteria of comparability and reproducibility. The best reproducibility was achieved for all investigated substances in column tests. The reproducibility of batch tests was acceptable except for PAHs. The results from the experimental work will help establish standardized and feasible laboratory procedures as fundamental for substance specific risk assessment of contaminated sites. Experiments were carried out in the framework of standardization and validation of column percolation and batch test procedures, in particular concerning the stipulation of the experimental setup. The colloid release of column and batch experiments was compared and the influence of different column filling heights (12.5–50 cm) on the release of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) from soil was studied, as well as the effect of varying contact times (2.5–16 h) on the release of chromium from construction and demolition (C&D) waste and municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) bottom ash. The results indicate that filtration of the eluate, which is required for batch tests, does not always allow the simulation of the actual colloid amount in soil pore water. Medium column heights four times the inner diameter of the column seemed to provide reasonable equilibrium adjustment conditions and avoid major biodegradation. The release of chromium was only marginally affected by the contact time, varied between 0.115 and 0.150 mg/kg for demolition waste eluate at a liquid-to-solid ratio of approximately 5 L/kg. While column testing can provide a closer approximation to field percolation conditions than batch testing, there is still a need to develop column testing procedures that consider the requirements of practical testing time frames. This study evaluates the effect of different column contact times (2.5, 5, and 16 h) on the release of inorganic constituents from bottom ash and demolition waste, two commonly reused granular materials. Leaching data for representative constituents of concern, such as copper, chromium, sulfate and chloride, as well as pH and electrical conductivity was compared for all different contact times studied. Results for the materials investigated in this study showed that variations in contact time have no significant effect on the release of the selected constituents and leaching parameters at low liquid to solid ratios. However, after a liquid to solid ratio of 1 L/kg, the effect is more noticeable, and higher contact times show lower pH values as well as a reduction in the release of constituents of concern from bottom ash. In the case of demolition waste, the variation of contact time did not have a strong effect on the leaching behavior. Consequently, a highly bioactive silicon containing calcium alkali orthophosphate (Si-CAP) material was created, which previously was shown to induce greater bone cell maturation and bone neo-formation than β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) in vivo as well as in vitro. Our study tested the hypothesis that the enhanced effect on bone cell function in vitro and in sheep in vivo would lead to more copious bone neoformation in patients following sinus floor augmentation (SFA) employing Si-CAP when compared to β-TCP. (2) Methods: The effects of Si-CAP on osteogenesis and Si-CAP resorbability were evaluated in biopsies harvested from 38 patients six months after SFA in comparison to β-TCP employing undecalcified histology, histomorphometry, and immunohistochemical analysis of osteogenic marker expression. (3) Results: Si-CAP as well as β-TCP supported matrix mineralization and bone formation. Apically furthest away from the original bone tissue, Si-CAP induced significantly higher bone formation, bone-bonding (bone-bioceramic contact), and granule resorption than β-TCP. This was in conjunction with a higher expression of osteogenic markers. (4) Conclusions: Si-CAP induced higher and more advanced bone formation and resorbability than β-TCP, while β-TCP’s remarkable osteoconductivity has been widely demonstrated. Hence, Si-CAP constitutes a well-suited bioactive graft choice for SFA in the clinical arena. To fix the ceramic powder we used a femtosecond laser, which causes a thin surface melting of the metal. It is a requirement to prove that the laser irradiation would not reduce the lifetime of implants. Here we present the results of mechanical stability tests, determined by the rotating bending fatigue strength of sample rods. After describing the sample surfaces and their modifications caused by the laser treatment we give evidence for an unchanged mechanical stability. This applies not only to the ceramic fixation but also to a comparatively strong laser ablation. The main ceramic phase in all cases is Ca10[K/Na](PO4)7 hereinafter called 401545(100) consisting of 99,9% Q0 and 0,1% Q1-phase. The other phosphate ceramics i) 401545(40) consists of 75% Q0-phase, 22% Q1-phase and 4% Q2-phase ii) 401545(15) consists of 65% Q0-phase, 33% Q1-phase and 2% Q2-phase iii) 401545consists of 56% Q0-phase, 40% Q1-phase and 4% Q2-phase. The in-house produced ceramics where crushed and sieved to achieve particles of irregular shape in the range of 45-90µm. These powders show a quite good flowability and were used to generate cylindrical samples with a diameter of 5,5mm and a height of 11mm via 3-dimensional printing using a R1 printer from ProMetal company (USA). After drying the samples at T=125°C for 48 hours they were sintered at temperatures according to the thermal analysis results in the range of 900°C up to 1300°C. However, the prices for the rare materials indium and tellurium will continue to increase. With the expected strong rise of the demand for thin film PV odules, recycling of indium and tellurium will become more important in the future. T1 - A novel approach for the recycling of thin film photovoltaic modules N2 - A sustainable recycling of photovoltaic (PV) thin film modules gains in importance due to the considerable growing of the PV market and the increasing scarcity of the resources for semiconductor materials. The paper presents the development of two strategies for thin film PV recycling based on (wet) mechanical processing for broken modules, and combined thermal and mechanical methods for end-of-life modules. The feasibility of the processing steps was demonstrated in laboratory scale as well as in semi-technical scale using the example of CdTe and CIS modules. Pre-concentrated valuables In and Te from wet mechanical processing can be purified to the appropriate grade for the production of new modules. An advantage of the wet mechanical processing in comparison to the conventional procedure might be the usage of no or a small amount of chemicals during the several steps. Some measures are necessary in order to increase the efficiency of the wet mechanical processing regarding the improvement of the valuable yield and the related enrichment of the semiconductor material. The investigation of the environmental impacts of both recycling strategies indicates that the strategy, which includes wet mechanical separation, has clear advantages in comparison to the thermal treatment or disposal on landfills.
