T1 - Microstructure and wear behavior of improved NbC cermets for (BS-1452) grey cast iron machining N2 - Tungsten carbide (WC) and cobalt (Co) based cermets are the most successful commercial cermets beacuse of the good combination of physical, mechanical and behavioral properties. Niobium carbide (NbC) has good mechanical and physical properties, such as high hardness, very high melting point and low density. SPS refined the NbC grains and increased the hardness, while substitution of Co with Ni improved the fracture toughness. T2 - 19.
