    <abstract language="eng">Due to the increased demand for NDT investigations and assessment of energy and traffic infrastructure, a qualification and certification system for NDT personel is urgently needed. Up to now, only Italy, Malaysia and Germany have set up such systems. The talk gives an overview of the demand and current activities, including those of IAEA.</abstract>
