    <abstract language="eng">In the following, an overview of possible career options for chemists is presented covering metrology institutes, departmental research institutes of ministries, Federal and state research institutes and options in areas such as Federal or state institutions in charge of occupational safety, the German armed forces, wastewater treatment plants and labs/institutes controlling water quality, and museums. Thereby also examples and personal insights of the daily work routine are provided for some employers.</abstract>
