    <abstract language="deu">Fraktographischen Daten aus Schadensanalysen, Vergleichsversuchen und Vorhaben könnten der Fachöffentlichkeit im Bereich Fraktographie zur Verfügung gestellt werden, sofern das Urheberrecht es zulässt und außerdem ein geeignetes Medium existiert. Ein solches Medium könnte eine offene fraktographische online-Datenbank sein. Eine solche wird im Rahmen der AG Fraktographie im DVM-DGM Gemeinschaftsausschuss "Rasterelektronenmikroskopie in der Materialprüfung" zurzeit erarbeitet.</abstract>

    <title language="eng">Failure analysis and prevention - an interdisciplinary approach</title>
    <abstract language="eng">The advent of the Industrial Revolution was accompanied by several accidents of dramatic dimensions. The analysis of these events was the fundament for the continuous improvement in the reliability of technical systems. In the year 1871 the Prussian state created a technical institution dedicated for this task – the origin of BAM. Failure analysis and prevention is until today a central objective of our institute; due to its complex nature an interdisciplinary task. In our talk we will present an overview of the activities of BAM in the area of failure analysis; especial attention will be given to the corrosion aspects in the analysis of these cases.</abstract>

    <title language="eng">Non-destructive characterization methods for polymer matrix composites</title>
    <abstract language="eng">The mechanical behavior of fiber reinforced composites with polymer matrix is governed by several mechanisms operating at different length scales. In this contribution we describe first non-destructive techniques which are adequate for the characterization of the fiber-matrix interphase at a microscopic level. In a second step we describe on a mesoscopic level the influence of manufacturing related elements on the mechanical properties of rotor blades for wind turbines. We concentrate on thermography, laminography and ultrasound in connection with mechanical testing systems. Finally we present methods for monitoring rotor blades by using embedded optical fibers.</abstract>

    <abstract language="deu">In diesem Beitrag werden am Beispiel von Gasturbinen Verfahren zur Charakterisierung des werkstoff-mechanischen Verhaltens sowie der Gefügeentwicklung von Bauteilen für Anwendungen bei hohen Temperaturen aufgezeigt. Gasturbinen sind technisch gesehen sehr interessante Systeme, die in der Energietechnik und in der Luftfahrt von hoher wirtschaftlicher Relevanz sind. Seit Jahrzehnten gelten Gasturbinen als klassische Innovationstreiber, für ihre Entwicklung wurden bereits maßgebliche Erneuerungen im Bereich der Aerodynamik und der Werkstofftechnik hervorgebracht.</abstract>

    <abstract language="eng">In a general sense, data are the output of experimental research work. In this workshop we will present some basic ideas concerning the reliability of experimental data; this is a central issue both for individuals or labs producing results as well as for scientists working on theoretical models and engineers designing a machine. Digitalization accelerates enormously the data exchange between these communities; however, the required level of confidence on experimental results increases in the same way. We invite all the participants to reflect upon the value of materials data for their own work.</abstract>

    <title language="deu">Die Beiträge von Adolf Martens und Emil Heyn zur Werkstofftechnik (1880-1920)</title>
    <abstract language="deu">Die Grundlagen der Metallographie wurden in der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts von Henry Clifton Sorby in England und Adolf Martens in Deutschland gelegt. Den verfügbaren Quellen nach erfolgten diese Arbeiten unabhängig voneinander. In diesem Beitrag werden die Beiträge von Adolf Martens und Emil Heyn zur Etablierung der Metallographie als ein eigenständiges Fach im Rahmen der Metallkunde dargestellt. Dabei werden Aspekte der Werkstoffprüfung, der Fraktographie und der Schadensanalyse einbezogen. Abschließend wird die führende Rolle dieser Pioniere der Metallkunde bei der Gründung der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Materialkunde (DGM) sowie des Deutschen Verbands für Materialforschung und -prüfung (DVM) gewürdigt.</abstract>

    <title language="eng">Adolf Martens and his contribution to materials engineering</title>
    <abstract language="eng">Adolf Martens (18501914) was a pioneer of materials engineering. After his studies in Berlin he joined a railway company being responsible for the technical equipment. His interest for the basic mechanisms of mechanical strength and fracture of metallic materials led him to the development of the basic concepts for metallography; his papers published between 1878 and 1889 laid the fundament of this technique. In 1880 Martens changed to the Royal Industrial Academy in Berlin and by 1884 he was designated as director of the Materials Testing Laboratory at the Technical University Berlin. Under his guidance this institution acquired an excellent reputation in all relevant areas of the German industry, forming the nucleus of the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) – the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing. Martens developed equipment in many different areas as mechanical testing of metallic materials and of paper, characterization of the wear behavior of materials and viscosity of lubricants. His overwhelming contribution to materials engineering was recognized as early as 1895 by Floris Osmond, who denominated martensite a metallographical constituent resulting from quenching of steels. In 2000 ISO designated the value obtained from the instrumented indentation method as Martens Hardness – HM.</abstract>

    <title language="eng">Creep induced evolution of internal stresses and structure in a single crystal nickel-base superalloy</title>
    <abstract language="eng">Changes in the structure of single-crystal (SC) superalloy SRR99 during creep at 980 °C and 200 MPa were investigated. Geometrical parameters of the y/y'-microstructure, y/y'-misfit, stresses in the phases and local misorientation of the structure were determined at defined points of the dendritic structure by use of X-ray diffraction (XRD), wavelength dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (WDXS), scanning (SEM) and transmission (TEM) electron microscopy. Correlation of the microstructural period and local misorientation of the structure with creep strain were found.</abstract>

    <abstract language="eng">The influence of small rhenium additions on the lattice spacing of a nickel solid solution was investigated using a nickelrhenium single crystal with an axial macrosegregation of rhenium. The effect of rhenium on the lattice spacing of the nickel solid solution was found to be similar to that of tungsten.</abstract>

    <title language="eng">Biaxial path-dependence of low-cycle fatigue behaviour and microstructure of alloy 800 H at room temperature</title>
    <abstract language="eng">Low-cycle fatigue experiments under combined axial-torsional loading have been carried out on alloy 800 H tubular specimens at room temperature. In comparison with proportional loading, an extra cyclic hardening effect produced by nonproportional loading was observed. The microstructure study highlights the fact that the dislocation arrangement under proportional loading is significantly different from that under nonproportional loading. Mechanical twinning was found in specimens cycled under axial loading and nonproportional loading. It is suggested that mechanical twinning depends not only on shear stress but also on normal stress on the plane of maximum shearing. The extra hardening can be interpreted in terms of the deformation microstructure. Fatigue cracking was initiated generally at the specimen surfaces along the plane of maximum shearing, but under nonproportional loading cracks were found also in the bulk of the specimens. Transcrystalline crack propagation was observed in the specimens after proportional and nonproportional LCF tests.</abstract>

    <title language="por">Monitoramento da corrosao em estruturas de concreto: sensor galvânico</title>
    <abstract language="por">O monitoramento das estruturas de concreto possibilita que o risco de corrosão seja estimado ao longo dos anos de sua utilização. Com o conhecimento desse risco, intervenções de prevenção da corrosão ou de controle da corrosão já estabelecida podem ser programadas e realizadas em períodos adequados. Na prática, o risco de corrosão é avaliado por meio da verificação periódica do estado da armadura e das alterações nas propriedades do concreto. Isso pode ser feito por meio do embutimento no concreto de cobrimento de sensores de aquisição contínua de dados. Há diferentes tipos de sensores de aquisição contínua de dados. Um dos mais conhecidos é o sensor galvânico que consta de um conjunto de barras de aço-carbono, eletricamente isoladas. Com o embutimento do sensor, essas barras ficam posicionadas em diferentes e conhecidas profundidades do concreto de cobrimento da armadura. O risco de corrosão da armadura é monitorado com a periódica medição da corrente galvânica em cada uma das barras do sensor. Essa medição, dentre outras informações do sensor galvânico foram abordadas em artigo anterior. Além do sensor galvânico, destacam-se o sensor de umidade e o de taxa de corrosão, que monitoram parâmetros importantes relacionados ao estabelecimento e evolução de processo corrosivo das armaduras. A seguir esses sensores são apresentados, bem como o sensor de fibra óptica, o qual apresenta algumas vantagens em relação aos demais mencionados, embora ainda seja de uso restrito.</abstract>

    <title language="eng">The contribution of the Platform MaterialDigital (PMD) in building up a Materials Data Space - Application to glass design and manufacturing</title>
    <abstract language="eng">Suitable material solutions are of key importance in designing and producing components for engineering systems – either for functional or structural applications. Materials data are generated, transferred, and introduced at each step along the complete life cycle of a component. A reliable materials data space is therefore crucial in the digital transformation of an industrial branch.&#13;
&#13;
A great challenge in establishing a materials data space lies in the complexity and diversity of materials science and engineering. It must be able to handle data from different knowledge areas over several magnitudes of length scale.&#13;
&#13;
The Platform MaterialDigital (PMD) is expected to network a large number of repositories of materials data, allowing the direct contact of different stakeholders as materials producers, testing labs, designers and end users. Following the FAIR principles, it will promote the semantic interoperability across the frontiers of materials classes. In the frame of a large joint initiative, PMD&#13;
works intensively together with currently near 20 research consortia in promoting this exchange (www.material-digital.de).&#13;

In this presentation we will describe the status of our Platform MaterialDigital. We will also present in more detail the activities of GlasDigital, one of the joint projects mentioned above dealing with the digitalization of glass design and manufacturing.&#13;

    <title language="deu">Sphäroguß als Werkstoff für Behälter zur Beförderung, Zwischen- und Endlagerung radioaktiver Stoffe; Untersuchung zu alternativen Eignungsnachweisen - Fachband 3: Werkstoffuntersuchungen, 1989 - 1992</title>
    <abstract language="deu">Gußeisen mit Kugelgraphit und ferritischer bzw. ferritisch-perlitischer Matrix gehören zu einer Werkstoffgruppe, die ausreichende Festigkeiten mit hohen Duktilitäten verbindet. Mit der vorliegenden Arbeit wurden die Kenntnisse über die Zusammenhänge zwischen der chemischen Zusammensetzung, der Gefügeausbildung und den mechanischen Eigenschaften erweitert. Dabei wurden sowohl unterschiedliche Gießverfahren (Sand- und Kokillenguß) in der Herstellung, als auch die Auswirkungen von Umwandlungsprozessen im Gefüge infolge von Wärmebehandlungen diskutiert. Die statistische Auswertung von Einzelergebnissen aus der qualitätssichernden Begutachtung von Lager- und Transportbehältern für radioaktive Stoffe wurden durch mechanische und bruchmechanische Untersuchungen an 24 Werkstoffsorten aus Gußeisen mit Kugelgraphit ergänzt.</abstract>
