TY - JOUR A1 - Bettge, Dirk A1 - Hinrichsen, Georg T1 - Continuous Manufacturing of Composites of High-Performance Polyethylene Fibres JF - Composites Science and Technology N2 - Unidirectional composites of high-strength polyethylene fibres and epoxy resin matrix were continuously produced by a die drawing process. In order to increase the adhesion between fibre and matrix, the fibre surface was treated with a low-pressure oxygen plasma. Composites with fibre volume fractions up to 0.69 were obtained, their density being about 1.03g/cm^3. Composites of oxygen-treated fibres achieved the theoretical tensile strength.
