TY - GEN A1 - Müller, Ralf T1 - Sintering and Foaming of Silicate Glass Powders N2 - The lecture focuses on the mechanisms of non-desired gas bubble formation and foaming during the sintering of glass powder compacts. It is shown that foaming is driven by carbon gases and that carbonates, encapsulated in micropores or mechaniacally dissolved beneath the glass surface, provide the major foaming source.
