TY - GEN A1 - Herzel, Hannes T1 - Phosphorus recovery from sewage sludge ash - Phase reactions during thermochemical treatment N2 - Sewage sludge ashes contain high phosphorus (P) mass fractions and can be used as raw material for P-fertilizers. We developed a thermochemical treatment at 900-1000 °C, known as AshDec process. The phosphorus compounds in the ash react with alkali additives (e.g. Na2SO4, K2SO4) to highly plant available calcium alkali phosphates. We investigate the system CaNaPO4-CaKPO4 (e.g. thermodynamic data) and phase reaction mechanisms as well as the optimization of additive input and process parameters for a later use of the treated ashes as P-fertilizers.
