Optical surface digitization methods have been used to measure, analyze and evaluate permanent deformations of shock absorbers more systemati-cally. The measurement principle of the fringe projection technique used and its technical appli-cation to shock absorber research is explained in detail in this paper. Furthermore, examples of shock absorber testing results as well as final data visualization are presented.
