Rotating parts such as shafts, gear wheels, ball bearings or idlers are subject to wear that limits their service life. Damage causes production downtime and consequential damage to the entire production plant. Based on the application in an idler roller, a system design is presented with which it is possible to record and wirelessly transmit relevant measured values in or on rotating machines without an additional voltage source. The system is largely maintenance-free and can be realised with components that are currently freely available on the market.
This edition includes selected articles presented at the 2nd International Scientific-Practical Conference "Machine Building and Energy: New Concepts and Technologies" (MBENCT 2023, December 4-5, 2023, AzTU, Baku, Azerbaijan). The purpose of the Conference was to formulate new challenges that create a scientific and technological basis that determines the increase in environmental safety and the economic efficiency of the infrastructure in connection with the development of production and energy fields. The publication will be useful to specialists in machine-building, energy and modern communication and information technologies.
In the following parts, a damage analysis of an extrusion line is presented. An important
point is the recording of the damage and the consideration of all facts around the operation and the history of the machine. The investigations in the laboratory confirmed the facts gathered in the hypothesis [1].
The main cause to be assumed is the age of the machine and the resulting load changes, in connection with the additional holes and the carbide concentration. By an unfavourable coincidence, a borehole was drilled in a place where there was a high concentration of carbides.
From the already partially corroded fracture edges, it can be assumed that it was a gradual process until the final fracture of the component occurred. The fracture of the component could be prevented in the future by a different maintenance strategy for machines of the same construction [2].
The Vibro Displacement Column (VDC) is one of the most widely-used techniques in
ground improvement. The present design of the column is exposed to high stresses from the soil during operation. There has been an increased fracture failure on basic parts of this VDC which has led to increase the downtime in construction projects. The major points of failures are identified and analyzed. Optimized design is presented after undergoing functionality experiments.
This paper examines the surface roughness and power consumption of the machine when
using different inserts and cutting parameters in rough turning. For this purpose, the surface quality of the parts, cutting parameters at different levels (cutting speed, feed rate, depth of cut) and optimal tools that influence the energy when machining S355JR steel material of different cutting tools were used in the turning process.
Belt conveyors are highly efficient systems used in mining and other industries to transport bulk materials, mainly brown coal and overburden, over distances ranging from short distances to several kilometres. For technical reasons, their operation is associated with noise emissions. During inspections and maintenance this can lead to increased noise exposure of employees. In the vicinity of residential buildings or in areas needing protection, exceeding the emission limits can lead to a temporary restriction of the operation of these high performance installations. Measures are required to reduce the noise impact primarily at the source or in the immediate vicinity. The acoustic and mechanical parameters are investigated on a test bench at the Technical University of Brandenburg (BTU) Cottbus-Senftenberg as part of the drive assembly tests in cooperation with LEAG. The stages of these tests are: Run-up test. In this test the supporting roller is accelerated under test load to a circumferential speed of 10 m/s and the sound pressure level is recorded. This makes it possible to calculate the sound emission as a function of the peripheral speed; Recording the geometry of the idler gear. An accurate description of the geometry of the idler housing allows conclusions to be drawn about the possible causes of excitation. The defined characteristics serve to quantify the acoustic effect of the driven rollers and derive specifications for use in belt conveyor systems. Based on the special requirements to the planned belt conveyor system, an adapted selection of low-noise idler rollers can be made at an early stage on the basis of specified parameters and confirmed test results.
Rotating parts such as shafts, gear wheels, ball bearings or rollers are subject to wear that limits their lifetime. Damage causes production downtime and consequential damage to the entire production plant. This system design makes it possible to record and wirelessly transmit measured values on rotating parts without an additional voltage source. The prototype is presented using the example of an application on a support roller and the economic efficiency of the system is
analysed.

Formation of Geometric Parameters of the Surfaces of Cylindrical Parts during Waterjet Cutting
(2023)
The article is devoted to the study of the technological process of water jet cutting of cylindrical parts on CNC machines. The results of experimental data on determining the accuracy of dimensional deviation, surface roughness, and taper of cylindrical parts depending on the circular milling of a water jet during water jet cutting are presented.
