Welded joints of aluminum alloy 6082-T6 formed by the method of pulse friction stir welding are studied. The effect of the power and frequency of the pulses on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the welded joints is determined. Application of an additional pulse during the welding affects the surface quality and the shape of the weld, the distribution of the oxide layer and of particles of the hardening phase, and the grain size in the zone of dynamic recrystallization.
An influence of the arc welding and the laser welding on fatigue properties and destruction mechanisms of aluminum foam sandwich has been studied. It was found that specimens made by the arc welding had the best fatigue strength. Comparative results of four point bending fatigue tests of the non-welded specimens such as butt welded joints made by different welding methods are presented.
