Floating architecture and structures – an answer to the global changes Currently a contradictory situation takes place. The climate and social change are going on. The sea level is rising by the smelting of ice and the extension of ocean owing to the temperature rise. This means: the building ground reduces above all things in costal and river districts. On the other hand the mankind and its claims with regard to living room is growing and more building sites are necessary. A smart solution for the conflict situation is the floating architecture. This means for example floating settlements and cities for South-East Asia or some places in Africa. In the consideration should be taken also so-called amphibious and floatable houses as a solution in case of floods in river destrics. For the moving building ground there must be investigated the following main points:
- The resistance of usual materials and development of new materials and constructions,
- Selfsufficency with regard to supply and disposal,
- Safty of users and construction, pontoon included with regard to fire, waterwaves, water chemistry and ice,
- adaptation of architecture and design to the regional and national conditions,
- environmental protection,
- economic aspects
For the problems some examples are demonstrated in the paper. As methods of the work are used the numerical simulation and experimental investigations in lab and in-situ.
The climate change is underway. The colonization of
water bodies will be a solution for the near future of some areas. The physics of the building must recognize and handle the risks and chances for building constructions and settlements by the new boundary conditions. In particular, there is specially environment surrounding and the direct contact with the water as well, as the movement, caused by water. The results will be discussed with regards to the
room climate, heat exchanger, autarchy and use of
pontoons as a living room. The paper presents an
overview of the currentituation regarding the floating architecture in the local region of the Lusatian lakeland and all over the world.
The climate change is underway and the rising of oceans and the frequency of destroying floods have gone on already in a considerable way. The level and the waves of the oceans threaten the coastlines. Especially in river districts of many countries we have to note the worst cases of floods. On the other side mankind is growing more and more and the right of adequate housing and sufficient space too. In this situation floating houses and floating settlements relatively in coastal regions and flood plains could be the basis for a sustainable city in future worldwide.
Floating Village Cua Van: Promoting Climate-Adaptive Ecotourism with Principles of Living Spaces
(2019)
Ha Long Bay—the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site on Vietnam’s northeastern seacoast—is often considered one of the world’s most beautiful bays. This bay is also famous for many floating fishing villages where the people live together on the sea as a community. However, due to rapid population growth in the floating villages, the present situation shows lacks in urban planning, waste management and development of infrastructure. Ha Long Bay had suffered the pressure of environmental pollution and resource degradation. Since 2014, in order to protect the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the local authority has planned a project to demolish the floating villages and move these communities to the mainland. In fact, the demolition project has caused the loss of cultural heritage and a tourist attraction in Ha Long Bay. The goal of this study is to propose a sustainable concept of living space organization for Cua Van, the largest floating village in Ha Long Bay, in order to preserve, revive, and promote floating communities as a unique heritage culture and tourist attraction. Therefore, a detailed analysis of environment and socio-cultural, economic, architectural characteristics of Cua Van is provided in this study. The analysis does not only accumulate precious traditional values that need to be preserved and developed in the proposed concept but also illustrate its weakness that need to be addressed to optimally design the future sustainable floating village. Based on these studies, as well as on general principles of a sustainable floating community and promoting ecotourism, the study proposes a living space concept for Cua Van, including solutions to both a sustainable floating community adapting to climate change and ecotourism development. The proposed concept would ensure stable and permanent living on the water for water dwellers and reduce human-induced impacts on the environment as well as an increasing livelihood income by tourism development.
Hygrothermal behavior of internal insulation systems with component integrated heating elements
(2021)
The practical example, which has been monitored for many years, clearly demonstrates that the wood moisture profile can only reflect the actual conditions in the beam heads by means of long-term measurements. The changing external climatic boundary conditions, in particular the effect of driving rain on barely visible cracks in the plaster or joints, are reflected with a phase shift and case dependent in the moisture evolution within individual beam heads. Built-in moisture usually takes several years until it has reached the quasi-steady state
under seasonal fluctuations. As a rule, moderate interior insulation measures do not endanger the wooden beam heads, if permanent convective moisture or driving-rain induced moisture are avoided.
Hierfür verantwortlich zeichnen u.a. spezifische Außenklimarandbedingungen.
