Coupled Optimization of Compressor Blade Roots and Rotor Grooves for Industrial Gas-Turbines
- Substituting an intuitive human design search by an automated design process for compressor blade roots and rotor grooves driven by numerical optimization. The design of industrial gas turbines is a highly complex task where the engineer typically run a lot of design cases intuitively and manually in order to find only acceptable design solution which is usually a time consuming procedure. Research project funded by Alstom, Switzerland. The research shows the benefit of applying optimization methods to an industrial design process.
