This bay is also famous for many floating fishing villages where the people live together on the sea as a community. However, due to rapid population growth in the floating villages, the present situation shows lacks in urban planning, waste management and development of infrastructure. Ha Long Bay had suffered the pressure of environmental pollution and resource degradation. Since 2014, in order to protect the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the local authority has planned a project to demolish the floating villages and move these communities to the mainland. In fact, the demolition project has caused the loss of cultural heritage and a tourist attraction in Ha Long Bay. The goal of this study is to propose a sustainable concept of living space organization for Cua Van, the largest floating village in Ha Long Bay, in order to preserve, revive, and promote floating communities as a unique heritage culture and tourist attraction. Therefore, a detailed analysis of environment and socio-cultural, economic, architectural characteristics of Cua Van is provided in this study. The analysis does not only accumulate precious traditional values that need to be preserved and developed in the proposed concept but also illustrate its weakness that need to be addressed to optimally design the future sustainable floating village. Based on these studies, as well as on general principles of a sustainable floating community and promoting ecotourism, the study proposes a living space concept for Cua Van, including solutions to both a sustainable floating community adapting to climate change and ecotourism development. The proposed concept would ensure stable and permanent living on the water for water dwellers and reduce human-induced impacts on the environment as well as an increasing livelihood income by tourism development. This paper presents a robot-controlled fabrication of sprayed concrete elements as a cyber-physicalsystem. It utilizes the concept of Industry 4.0 and IoT-technology together with automatized fabrication methods and developed sophisticated software solutions for communication, planning, modeling and analyzing. This concept bases on a decentralized system of fabrication, analytic and path-planning services connected with a mqtt-communication protocol. Next to the system- and software development a special material based on concrete is developed, shotcrete, which is adapted to needs for the application of spraying. Since there is a lack of technical literature on this topic, most students working on projects or theses related to this topic send their inquiries. A time of general and quick changes results in a large number of daily publications. Therefore it is difficult to understand why there is a lack of lit-erature about floating structures. One has to consider that sea levels will continue to rise and consequently a larger number of people will have to live on the surface of the sea. Obviously, some expert knowledge is required which needs a longer period of time to be gained through scientific advancements and experience. The publishers, who have been dealing with the topic of floating houses for some years, are grateful to the authors for their agreement to allow the publication of their papers on floating architecture. These papers were mainly prepared for two conferences on floating architecture held in the study centre of the IBA building, Großräschen. Therefore, the reader should know that, along with the usual papers, only a selection of self-explaining transparencies is shown in order to meet the printing requirements. The included list of both the authors and their addresses makes it easy for interested people to send any inquiries to them. A short introduction as well as an outlook at the end of each paper is meant to draw attention to current events in order to be able to promptly identify opportunities and risks connected with living on the water. T1 - Towards artificial ossification for bone-inspired technical structures T2 - Structures and Architecture : A Viable Urban Perspective? N2 - Since its first description in 1892, the adaptation of internal bone structure to changing loading conditions over time, known as Wolff 's Law, has inspired a wide range of research and imitation. This investigation presents a new bone-inspired algorithm, intended for the structural design of technical structures and capable of optimizing the shape and size of three-dimensional lattice structures. Unlike conventional structural optimization methods, it uses interacting artificial agents that closely follow the cellular behaviour of the biological blueprint. Agents iteratively move, alter cross-sections, and reposition axes in the latticework. The efficacy of the algorithm is tested and evaluated in two case studies. This agent-based approach lays the theoretical foundation for an implementation of adaptive structural building components and provides a tool for further research into the spatial aspects of natural ossification.
