The settlement of water will be a solution during the near future. We should recognize the risks for building envelops and settlements by the new boundary conditions, for instance, offered by the direct contact by the water and water moving. The moving building ground requires a manifold ad-aptation of the structure. In the paper are demonstrated the affects of water waves on floating houses installed on former open cast mines. The pictures of destroyed accesses to such subjects show the necessary of the investigations of affects of water waves to the floating houses. In order to reduce the experimental activities, it should be done by means of numerical simula-tion. It is carried out by means of modern computing equipment and the software ANSYS FLUENT, ANSYS MECHANICAL FSI and ANSYS AQWA. For the validation are available a hydraulic test channel with a dimension of 15m x 5m, a floating platform near the harbor of Großräschen Sea and floating houses in the environment of the Lusatian Lakeland. In the results are shown the determination of wave-forces that act on the structure of pontoons, de-velopment of new connecting elements, adapted material and structure versions, damping of the water wave movement and use of wave energy. Since there is a lack of technical literature on this topic, most students working on projects or theses related to this topic send their inquiries. A time of general and quick changes results in a large number of daily publications. Therefore it is difficult to understand why there is a lack of lit-erature about floating structures. One has to consider that sea levels will continue to rise and consequently a larger number of people will have to live on the surface of the sea. Obviously, some expert knowledge is required which needs a longer period of time to be gained through scientific advancements and experience. The publishers, who have been dealing with the topic of floating houses for some years, are grateful to the authors for their agreement to allow the publication of their papers on floating architecture. These papers were mainly prepared for two conferences on floating architecture held in the study centre of the IBA building, Großräschen. Therefore, the reader should know that, along with the usual papers, only a selection of self-explaining transparencies is shown in order to meet the printing requirements. The included list of both the authors and their addresses makes it easy for interested people to send any inquiries to them. A short introduction as well as an outlook at the end of each paper is meant to draw attention to current events in order to be able to promptly identify opportunities and risks connected with living on the water. The kinematics and the energetic setup underlying the phase transformation are briefly explained. Parameters are identified using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The kinetics of the phase field model are in good agreement with those of the MD simulations. Further, the effect of temperature on the microstructure evolution is studied for varying initial austenite contents. As an allotrope two crystal configurations are of interest: the softer austenitic parent phase and the martensitic phases. Here, the bain orientation relationship leads to distinct orientations for the martensitic variants with a different transformation strain [7]. A phase field approach is used to model the transformation, where a multi‐valued order parameter urn:x-wiley:16177061:media:PAMM201900465:pamm201900465-math-0001 identifies the austenitic parent phase and the martensitic variants. This allows to define bulk and surface energies as regularized functions in terms of the order parameter and its gradient. The kinetics of the martensitic transformation are temperature dependent. Temperatures below an equilibrium temperature favour the growth of the martensitic phase, whereas temperatures above the equilibrium favour the austenitic phase. Approaching the equilibrium temperature slows down the transformation [5]. In this work we consider a static crack under mode I and mode II loading.
