As a possible way to overcome this problem, the deposition of thin metal bonding layer (for example, Ti) on the surface of the ceramic particles by means of PVD-method was suggested. For this purpose, novel technical solutions for deposition of the PVD-coating on the loose ceramic particles have been elaborated. The cored wires with the diameter of 1.6 mm in low alloyed steel sheath have been fabricated utilizing the PVD-coated hard particles as filling powders. Arc-spraying was carried out with the optimized spraying parameters. The microstructure and worn surface morphologies of the coatings were observed by means of optical and scanning electron microscopy. The coatings demonstrated the excellent abrasive wear resistance. Wear mechanisms have been discussed as well.}, language = {en} }
