Using a simple model of individual labor market participation under uncertainty, we predict that high levels of perceived fairness cause higher levels of individual welfare, and lower support for income redistribution. Income inequality is predicted to have a more favorable impact on subjective well-being for individuals with high fairness perceptions. This relationship is predicted to be stronger in societies that are characterized by low actual fairness. Using data on subjective well-being and a broad set of fairness measures from a pseudo micro-panel from the WVS over the 1990-2008 period, we find strong support for the negative (positive) association between fairness perceptions and the demand for more equal incomes (subjective well-being). Conservative non-pharmacological interventions play a first-line role in the treatment and management of most NCDs. Systematic reviews (SRs) provide the highest level of evidence and significantly influence clinical decision-making. The primary aim of this study is to provide an overview of the evidence on the effectiveness of recommended conservative non-pharmacological interventions for highly burdensome NCDs. The secondary aim is to provide an overview of the evidence for guideline implementation. A literature search was performed in Medline (PubMed), EMBASE and Cochrane CENTRAL. Six reviewers will, in duplicate, independently screen and select studies following eligibility criteria. The population will include individuals with NCDs from disease categories chosen based on WHO burden of disease data and the importance of conservative rehabilitation for their management. Eligible interventions will encompass conservative non-pharmacological approaches recommended by clinical practice guidelines (ie, physical, psychological and education/advice). Eligible comparator will include no or minimal intervention and other competitive interventions. Outcomes will comprise proposed core outcomes for the respective diseases, including patient-reported (eg, pain) and performance-based (eg, physical functioning) outcomes. Virtual reality (VR) is a new treatment that provides an opportunity to narrow the gap between clinical practice and recommended care in the use of patient education and behavioral interventions in the outpatient physiotherapy setting. However, there is currently no implementation strategy to integrate VR treatments into this setting. Objective This protocol outlines a pilot implementation study that aims to (1) identify barriers and facilitators for implementing a VR intervention in outpatient physiotherapy care for people with chronic pain and (2) develop and pilot test an implementation strategy in 5 practices in Germany. Methods The study consists of 4 phases. The first phase involves adapting the treatment protocol of the VR intervention to the local context of outpatient physiotherapy practices in Germany. The second phase includes the collection of barriers and facilitators through semistructured interviews from physiotherapists and the development of a theory-driven implementation strategy based on the Theoretical Domains framework and the Behavior Change Wheel. This strategy will be applied in the third phase, which will also include a 6-month span of using VR interventions in practices, along with a process evaluation. The fourth phase consists of semistructured interviews to evaluate the developed implementation strategy. Results The recruitment process and phase 1, including the adaptation of the treatment protocol, have already been completed. We recruited 5 physiotherapy practices in Lower Saxony, Germany, where the VR intervention will be implemented. The collection of barriers and facilitators through semistructured interviews is scheduled to begin in February 2024. Conclusions This pilot implementation study aims to develop a theory-driven implementation strategy for integrating a VR intervention into outpatient physiotherapy care for people with chronic pain. Virtual reality (VR) may provide a way to improve this situation. A growing body of evidence indicates that VR therapy has positive effects on pain and physical function. However, there is limited knowledge about barriers and facilitators to the implementation of VR interventions for people with chronic pain in health care settings. Objective: The aim of this study was to identify and analyze the barriers and facilitators involved in implementing VR interventions for people with chronic pain. Methods: We conducted a scoping review of the German and English literature using the MEDLINE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, CINAHL, PEDro, LILACS, and Web of Science (inception to November 2023) databases, including quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods studies reporting barriers and facilitators to the implementation of VR interventions for people with chronic pain, as reported by patients or health care professionals. Two reviewers systematically screened the abstracts and full texts of retrieved articles according to the inclusion criteria. All mentioned barriers and facilitators were extracted and categorized according to the Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF). Results: The database search resulted in 1864 records after removal of duplicates. From the 14 included studies, 30 barriers and 33 facilitators from the patient perspective and 2 facilitators from the health care professional perspective were extracted. Barriers reported by people with chronic pain were most frequently assigned to the TDF domains environmental context (60\%) and skills (16.7\%). Most facilitators were found in three domains for both the patients and health care professionals: beliefs about consequences (30.3\%), emotions (18.2\%), and environmental context (18.2\%). Conclusions: The findings of this review can inform the development of strategies for future implementations of VR interventions for people with chronic pain. Guided by molecular docking and MM-GBSA calculations, we identified two artificial substrates, desaminotyrosine (DAT) and desaminotyrosyltyrosine (DATT), that were experimentally more efficiently converted by mushroom tyrosinase (mTyr) than the natural substrate tyrosine. These substrates were used to synthesize hydrogels from DAT/DATT-functionalized star-shaped oligoethylene glycol (sOEG). Model reactions elucidated the chemical nature and functionality of the hydrogel netpoints. Material properties were systematically investigated depending on sOEG molecular weight (5, 10, 20 kDa), substrate type, and mTyr concentration. Functional mesh sizes and controlled release functions were investigated with fluorescent dextrans (4-500 kDa) and heparin. Cell culture studies with L929 fibroblasts and THP-1 monocytes suggested inertness of the material. These findings provide fundamental insight into mTyr-catalyzed hydrogel formation and support further exploration for in situ hydrogel synthesis.}, language = {en} }
