Users and customers possessing needs and problems are major sources for innovative ideas. The idea generation can be supported by the use of specific methods and instruments. This study investigates internal and external sources of innovative ideas and the use of voice-of-customer (VoC) methods in the German automotive industry. A special focus is on the lead user method which involves users who are ahead of the market making them attractive sources for innovative ideas. The findings show that easy to use VoC methods are mostly used to gather customer wants and needs. Nevertheless, more complex methods such as the lead user method proved advantageous with regard to the quality and quantity of innovative ideas. Because negative aspects became less important with increasing usage frequency, their usage should be encouraged.}, language = {en} } @misc{SaennKrimmling, author = {S{\"a}nn, Alexander and Krimmling, Jana}, title = {Neue Wege f{\"u}r die IT-Sicherheit}, series = {Zeitschrift f{\"u}r Automation und Security : a + s}, volume = {3}, journal = {Zeitschrift f{\"u}r Automation und Security : a + s}, number = {1}, issn = {2193-8555}, pages = {27 -- 29}, language = {de} } @misc{BaierSaenn, author = {Baier, Daniel and S{\"a}nn, Alexander}, title = {Lead User bei der Entwicklung neuer Produkte}, series = {Das Wirtschaftsstudium : wisu}, volume = {42}, journal = {Das Wirtschaftsstudium : wisu}, number = {6}, issn = {0340-3084}, pages = {799 -- 805}, language = {de} } @misc{SaennKeilRogmansetal., author = {S{\"a}nn, Alexander and Keil, Michael and Rogmans, Wim and Krebs, Irene}, title = {Die prim{\"a}re Verletzungspr{\"a}vention beim Umgang mit Produkten: ein Paradigmenwechsel}, series = {Das Krankenhaus}, volume = {56}, journal = {Das Krankenhaus}, number = {2}, pages = {144 -- 148}, abstract = {Krankenh{\"a}user sind Ansprechpartner zur Behandlung und Pr{\"a}vention von Verletzungen. Since the lead user method was successfully applied in generating simple products for business-to-business environments, the contribution of lead users in a complex product environment is highly controversial. This research adopts this to generate future complex IT-security solutions for business-to-business environments in the energy sector. The combined approach of lead user intelligence and voice of the customer techniques is expected to lower the risk of an unreliable product development and to fasten the lead user method. The empirical findings show an appropriate lead user method fitting small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) restricted resources and requirements of effective research and development processes in a high-technology environment. It further enables SMEs to specify and parameterise future products according to reliable and user verified data within development processes.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{SaennBaierRese, author = {S{\"a}nn, Alexander and Baier, Daniel and Rese, Alexandra}, title = {The Presumer Effect: Implementing the Customer's Voice to radical new product developement for High-Tech SME}, series = {Proceedings of the 20th International Product Development Management Conference, Paris, 2013}, booktitle = {Proceedings of the 20th International Product Development Management Conference, Paris, 2013}, publisher = {EISAM}, address = {Paris}, pages = {227 -- 228}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{SaennNi, author = {S{\"a}nn, Alexander and Ni, Ming}, title = {Complex Product Development: Using a Combined VoC Lead User Approach for SMEs Requirements}, series = {Proceedings of the 15th General Online Research Conference, Mannheim, 2013}, booktitle = {Proceedings of the 15th General Online Research Conference, Mannheim, 2013}, publisher = {DGOF}, address = {H{\"u}rth}, isbn = {978-3-9815106-1-4}, language = {en} }
