TY - CHAP A1 - Strangfeld, Peter A1 - Stopp, Horst A2 - Wakili, Karim Ghazi A2 - Stahl, Thomas T1 - Hygrothermal behavior of internal insulation systems with component integrated heating elements T2 - Energy-Efficient Retrofit of Buildings by Interior Insulation Materials, Methods, and Tools N2 - The practical example, which has been monitored for many years, clearly demonstrates that the wood moisture profile can only reflect the actual conditions in the beam heads by means of long-term measurements. The changing external climatic boundary conditions, in particular the effect of driving rain on barely visible cracks in the plaster or joints, are reflected with a phase shift and case dependent in the moisture evolution within individual beam heads. Built-in moisture usually takes several years until it has reached the quasi-steady state under seasonal fluctuations. As a rule, moderate interior insulation measures do not endanger the wooden beam heads, if permanent convective moisture or driving-rain induced moisture are avoided.
