[Conclusion] Niniejsza monografi a dowodzi, że inspirowana myślą Ericha Fromma teoria i praktyka edukacji może znaleźć w niej reprezentującą orientację emancypacyjną w krytycznej teorii edukacji spojną i wartościową wykładnię.
In an era of environmental crises, geopolitical stresses, corporate misbehavior, and inequalities of wealth and power, a new moral vision for our world is vital. Klaus M. Leisinger, one of the world’s leading ethicists and experts in ethical business management offers an essential text for our times. This is a volume akin to Machiavelli’s The Prince, as it is a guidebook for leadership, but unlike Machiavelli, Leisinger teaches the leader how to find true purpose and value through leadership. Drawing upon his vast knowledge of philosophy and experience in global business, Leisinger offers an invaluable, persuasive, inspiring, and utterly practical guide for business with purpose in the 21st century. The timing is perfect. Leading CEOs in the U.S. Business Roundtable have finally acknowledged the social responsibility of the corporation. They will find no better roadmap to fulfilling that responsibility than Klaus Leisinger’s powerful text.
Personality: An introduction to the theories of psychology, London (Penguin Books, Inc) 1990, 193 p.
(1990)
Although no single theory has yet managed to explain the mystery of human personality, many different approaches can add depth to our common-sense views. In this very readable survey, Peter Morea starts by examining the insights (and omissions) of Freud, Skinner's Behaviourism and the Self Therapy of Carl Rogers. Later thinkers like Erich FROMM, G. H. Mead and George Kelly have developed these ideas, portraying human beings as lonely liberals, as role-players and as scientists trying to make sense of the world. All offer crucial insights and provide different ways of understanding the nature of freedom, good and evil, and the relationship between mind, brain and body. If none is adequate on its own, together they can teach us an astonishing amount about one of the most complex and fascinating issues in psychology. Skinner's behaviourism – Flower people: Carl Rogers's self theory – Lonely liberals: Erich FROMM's neo-Freudianism – Merely players: The social behaviourism of role theory and G. This book will first acquaint them (laypersons) with the major characteristics of the creative personality and the creative process. It will then critically discuss the theoretical ideas contributed by representatives of such traditions as psychoanalysis, existentialism, and scientific behaviorism. Thus it is intended first, for the >enlightened< lay person, be he or she a practicing professional in the arts or sciences, an interested observer, or an undergraduate student seeking that elusive diploma. It is also hoped, however, that trained philosophers and/or psychologists will find it informative (although they should be forewarned that at times the discussion may seem elementary), since these theoretical writings have not, to our knowledge, been previously brought together in this manner. In short, we unabashedly seek to provide what might pass for a >textbook< on the topic. – Index: Introduction – Part I: Problems and evidence – A problematic potpourri – Democracy and creativity – The >data< of creativity – The stages of the creative process – The data of creativity I: Some characteristics of creative persons – Methods of study – Personality characteristics – The data of creativity II: Complications – Fictional characteristics – Conceptual problems – he creative process I: Preparation and incubation – cubation/frustration – The creative process II: Inspiration and beyond – Verification/hypothesis testing – Part II: Theories of personal autonomy – Existential approaches I: Basic premises and Albert Camus – Existential approaches II: Jean-Paul Sartre – Part III: Theories of antecedent causation – Supernatural/theological approaches – Psychoanalytic approaches I: Sigmund Freud – Psychoanalytic approaches II: Jung and Rank – Psychoanalytic approaches III: Miscellaneous – Ernst Kris – Silvano Arieti – Phyllis Greenacre – Alfred Adler – Naturalistic views I: The passive subject – Hereditary/evolutionary views – Environmental views – Physiological views – Part IV: Theories of deterministic freedom – Naturalistic views II: The active subject – Philosophical antecedents: Kant – Gestalt psychology – Cognitive associationism – Other cognitive environmental views – Naturalistic views III: The active subject prolonged – Developmental approaches – Psychometric approaches: J. Carl Goldberg asks how malevolent transformation of personality takes place. In-spired by Fromm's work on the origin of destructiveness, Goldberg builds on Fromm's observation that an evil character tends to develop gradually by a succes-sion of innumerable acts of inhumanity that are often rationalized and dismissed. Goldberg has found that the road that leads to sadism and cruelty is often paved by a history of shame and humiliation. Goldberg proposes stages of the sequential transformations of shame, humiliation, and rage that eventually lead to malevo-lence. He illustrates the theory with a very interesting case study. Goldberg's stages provide the basis for rich clinical exploration that could lead to a research agenda into the various possible pathways for the development of the malevolent personal-ity.

To provide a better understanding of the diverse interpretations of human behavior and the dynamic forces within personality, this work explores the major theories of personality. It covers the theories of Freud, Jung, and Adler; of Pavlov, Hull, Skinner, Dollard and Miller, and Cattell; of Horney, Sullivan, FROMM, and Erickson; of Lewin and Allport, of Husserl, Combs and Snygg, Rogers, Maslow, Goldstein, and Frankl. Each chapter contains a study guide to review the salient points of the personality theory discussed and suggestions to apply these concepts to professional counseling practice. Lending a degree of concreteness to the abstract ideas are explanatory drawings used throughout the text--a feature particularly benefiting visually-oriented readers.
In this comprehensive volume, the first of a two-volume set, the development of ideas linking psychopathology, diagnosis, and personality is traced from the ancient Greeks and Romans through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance to the contemporary world. The understanding of personality structure throughout this broad historical context, including contributions of early pioneers, Freud, post-Freudians, typologists, ego psychologists, and object relations theorists, is reviewed and embedded in this historical perspective. / Volume I assesses each historical period in terms of its impact on the understanding of psychopathology. In addition, each period is identified in terms of its philosophical underpinnings. Convenient summaries and tables provide the reader with a basic view of the salient contributions of each era regarding the vicissitudes of personality and psychopathology. / A central concern in Volume I is the delineation of the two major competing themes regarding psychopathology which emerge throughout history. These competing themes are pointed out and their shifting emphasis explored from era to era. The first theme views the development of psychopathology in relation to both intrapersonal phenomena and interpersonal dynamics; the Secon theme relates psychopathology to biological and organic factors. The contributions, contrasts, and integration of these perspectives are presented and related to a broad spectrum of contemporary thinking regarding personality, psychopathology, and diagnosis. – Index: Preface Acknowledgments Part I: Antiquity – The historical roots of psychopathology and diagnosis – Hipprocrates: The first classifier – The later Greek philosophers – The Roman period Part II: The Middle Ages and the Renaissance – The Middle Ages – The Renaissance Part III: The modern world – The modern world and the study of psychopathology – The age of enlightenment: The eighteenth century – Nineteenth-century interest in the nature of psychopathology Part IV: Nosological systems and the appearance of Sigmund Freud – The reemergence of the physical approach and early classification schemes – Precursors to Freudian psychology and the dynamic understanding of psychopathology – Sigmund Freud Part V: Typologies and followers of Freud – Typologies – Freud's personality types – Followers of Freud: Horney, FROMM, and Erickson Adler and Sullivan Part VI: Contemporary views: Ego psychology and object relations – Ego psychology – Object relations – Object relations and ego psychology: Comparisons and combinations – Conclusion References and suggested readings.
