Points out that the establishment of a >productive relatedness< is primary in E. FROMM's approach to psychoanalysis and that in FROMM's conception of psychoanalysis, the analyst's technique and his/her philosophy are indivisible. To develop as a psychoanalyst demands more than acquiring theoretical and technical expertise; a strong sense of purpose, uncompromising realism, daily self-analysis, and the enriching of one's personal life are also necessary.
