  • 美籍华人作家白先勇与意识流大师乔伊斯都是具有世界影响的文学奇才,在他们所创作的众多作品中,白先勇的《台北人》和乔伊斯的《都柏林人》表现出了极大的相似性,两部作品都以作家所生活过的一个城市为背景,生动地描绘了各自所处的时代与环境下特定城市群体的人生百态,光怪陆离的城市生活,形形色色的城市人物,以及每个人都难以忘怀且诉说不尽的城市记忆,进而表现了博大的人生与历史主题。两位作家站在历史的、哲学的、社会的高度,以敏锐的洞察力深刻地剖析了时代的、民族的精神状态与具有现代色彩的城市人物情感,尤其是《台北人》和《都柏林人》在描写这些城市群体以及他们复杂的人生与命运时俱都透视与观照了这些特殊的文化类群所特有的一种孤独感,揭示了形成他们这种孤独的历史的现实的精神根源。本文拟采用平行研究的方法,对白先勇和乔伊斯的孤独意识进行深度比较,从他们各自所表现的孤独的形态、孤独的变异和形成孤独的根源展开系列研究,揭示两位作家在社会转型过程中所持有的一种非理性视角以及他们笔下的人物在荒诞的现实和无情的时间中的无助感和异化感,从而反思传统、拷问当下、展望未来,以人道主义情怀关注>人<的感受、观照>人<的生存、体验>人<的孤独。本论一方面依托《台北人》和《都柏林人》两个文本对白先勇和乔伊斯的孤独意识进行了具体的观察与比较,同时也从社会学与文化学角度审视了中西文化的差异性,进而在人类学的层面以美国学者弗洛姆>爱的理论<讨论实现>孤独的救赎<,尽管白先勇与乔伊斯在《台北人》和《都柏林人》中没有给孤独的救赎指出一条明路,但他们在作品中都体现出了>爱<,白先勇对>台北人<是尊重的、理解的、关心的,他以人道主义和悲悯情怀爱着笔下那群在历史和命运中苦苦挣扎的>台北人<,同样,乔伊斯也深爱着爱尔兰,深爱着都柏林,并通过>都柏林人<最后的>精神顿悟<,唤起民族意识的苏醒并激起民族性情的释放。>青春短暂,艺术永恒<的创作理念使得两位作家在>民族<、>人性<和>文化<的层面在对孤独感进行展示时获得了艺术生命的永恒。
  • As a writer, Bai Xianyong was born in china but his nationality is America, Joyce did best in. stream of consciousness, both of them were the literary wonder in the world. In all of their works, Bai Xianyong's >Taipei People< and Joyce's >Dubliners< were similar, they both took a city which they had stayed as the background, vividly depicted the various phenomena of urban colony at one particular age, lustrous and dazzling urban life, all manner of man and memories which were special and hard to forget, displayed the profound theme of life and history. They analyzed the spirit of age and nation, emotion of people in the modern city in the sharp outlook at the high level of history and philosophy and society. >Taipei People< and >Dubliners< both perspectives the special felling of loneliness in particular cultural colony and reveal the historical and realistic roots when described the urban colony and their complicated life and destiny. This dissertation makes deeply parallel comparison between Bai Xianyong's sense of loneliness and Joyce's, launch a series of research from the formation and variation and roots of loneliness, reveal irrational angles of view they have in the transition of society and feelings of loneliness and alienation in fantastic reality and merciless time of figures in their novels, further rethink tradition and torture today and look ahead, pay close attention to people's feeling and existence and learn from their loneliness with humanitarianism.– For one thing, this dissertation concretely survey and compare Bai Xianyong's sense of loneliness and Joyce's based on the novels, for another it compare the cultural difference between Chinese and the Western in the angles of sociology and culture, then discuss the way to get rid of loneliness based on Fromm's >love theory< in the angle of anthropology, although Bai Xianyong and Joyce don't point a clear way to get rid of loneliness in their novels, they both give expression to >love<, Bai Xianyong takes pity on Taipei people with respect and understanding and concern, he loves Taipei people in his novel who struggle to get rid of history and destiny with concern of humanitarianism, as the same to Joyce, he loves Ireland and loves Dubliner deeply, by way of Dubliners' epiphany to arouse the nation consciousness and temperament come around. Ideas guiding creation in literature and art lead the two writers gain eternal life in art when they reveal the feeling of loneliness in the aspects of nation and humanity and culture. I154
