  • Holden Caulfield in >The Catcher in the Rye< is a boy who was born in a wealthy middle-class family in the 1950s, who grows up in Manhattan, and attends the private school. Though a teenager, he lost in his world of solitude and suffering, hesitating to the world pervaded by corruption and alienation. It is the society and absence of parental love that shoulder the unshakeable responsibility for his psychosis. Holden becomes mature and sensible after the meditation to life and death, he eventually returns to the society with his love for this world.
